Hi friends! I hope you found this comparison super helpful. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. :) ✭ FULL supply list with PICTURES: ldli.co/e/3o0n2lx
Loved the comparison of the two brands of sticky mats. What I was surprised with was you didn’t compare these two along side the Tim Holtz grey media mat. The grey media mat sticks to glass, holds the card stock and stencils perfectly. Also with the grey media mat I don’t have to worry about any coating from stencils to come off. The ink, no matter what brand, wipes off with no staining. I also use mine for gluing and the glue washes off too. Hope you give it a try. Thank you.
Thanks very much for these tips on grip mats Simon. I’m just now deciding on a grip mat-so very timely. (Watching from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦 )
I had the Misti first, then recently purchases the Stampwheel from Scrapbook with $10.00 off. I love them both. I also purchased new sticky mats for the Misti..wow...super sticky...was hard to get the card stock off and it warped my card! The 100# and 110# cardstock did better. So, I may later purchase the waffle mat since it less sticky for 65# cardstock. Very awesome tips from you as always!! Beautiful card!! Thank you, Simon! Special as always!!
Thank you. Between you & Jennifer McGuire I feel well prepared. I have a Waffle Flower mat coming. I would love the Stamp Wheel, but I have 2 positioners already (not Misti).
I have bought the Altenew one a couple of weeks ago because of the ability to do circular stamped pattens with it. You can get alignment guides for it too, which I also got which makes it easy to place your card in the right place. Thanks for your review!
Great comparison Simon. I have the Altenew sticky mat (but not the stamp wheel) and really like it. I did just purchase two waffle flower grip mats for both my misti’s and hope I love them just as much in there. I also love the BM Stick and Stamp Mat but they lose the stickiness too quickly. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for all of the details on both companies grip mats. The Waffle Flower for my MISTI is calling my name. Love your poinsettia set of stamps. They are beautiful.
This is a product that I went and bought right away! So nice not to have to use the pixies spray or tape! Thank you so much for this review I got the large one by Alta new just to put down on my glass working surface. ❤
Thank you Simon. I love all the mats. I’m getting some waffle flower ones to use for the hundreds of wooden stamps I have that I have removed from the wood. Big hassle getting them to stick in the misty. These mats will work perfectly for getting them to stick. 👍😊
Hi Simon, thank you for the video - your comparisons and comments are a great help. I have the stamp wheel already and love it, and I have the Misti regular sized grip mat on order. One additional use I find is invaluable for my stamp wheel mat - I like to use it to hold card in place when folding it. The card doesn’t move as it’s gripped by the mat, so it’s very easy to align the corners correctly 😊. And just one more thing, if I’m aligning a layer on my base card, such as the red layer, and the stamped layer you put on your card, I place them in my Misti, and I quickly have the perfect alignment. Thanks again for the video - Anne 😊
Great demonstration of both mats! I have both and love them both. I do not have the wheel from Altenew and feel that I do not need it because of my Misti. I love that I do not need magnets or tape. Thanks again!
Simon, Thanks for this video! I recently got the largest Waffle Flower mat that fits inside my stamping tool. I was reluctant to use it, but with this excellent video, I'm excited to give it a try! Thank you for carefully explaining how to use it with stencils, stamps, die cuts and cleaning it. I've saved it so that I can refer to it again and again!
While I'm aware the grip mats are mostly for the American market, I wished Waffle Flower offered the alternative metric (centimetres, etc) measurements especially on their printed grid templates. We make standard A5 cards not A2.
Love the comparison of both. Really comes down to preference. I have the misti so I’m going to get the waffle flower mat. This is going to be great with holding down stencils and all those tiny die cuts. Another great video!
Thanks for the comparison video, Simon, because they are always helpful. I have the two sizes of the Waffle Flower grip mats that fit my Original Misti and my Mini Misti, and they are great! I did buy the sticky mat insert for the Stampwheel, but was disappointed the first and only time I used it because it didn't hold my die cuts at all. I thought I was ordering the extra sticky mat, but I guess I got the original one instead. I may pull it back out and try it with stencils as I think it would be ok for that.
I recently ordered the 6.5x8.5 for my MISTI & I bought the ultra sticky mat & alignment guides after your last Stampwheel video! Super excited to have them all in my craftroom!!
Thanks so much, Simon. I already have the stamp wheel and the 6.5”x8.5” Waffle Flower grip mats. I just ordered an extra sticky mat by Altenew to use on my glass craft surface. I enjoyed your comprehensive comparison of the two brands of this product.
Thanks for the info on these tools!!! I have never thought about card making until I recently came across some videos on RUclips and I am diving headfirst into this craft like…a lot…quickly…lol. 😂🤑 I don’t want to spend money unnessessarily so this helped a ton. I also just looked at the list you have on here. I can’t wait to get started. 💕
Hey Simon and fellow crafters. I thought about something. If the mat isn't sticky anymore (we don't know by now, when it will happened, but eventually it does some day), don't ever throw it away! It's the easiest way to make nice blended backgrounds. Just experiment a little bit. It's worth the price for just that...an easy to use background stamp 😊 no need for ink blending or buying colored paper anymore. Yeah 🎉 Maybe you could even cut a stamp with a nice lino tool. I don't know. TFS Simon 😁
Thanks for the review! Now I know I need one LOL! If gluing die cuts like that, and glue gets on the mat, how does the glue clean off? I always get glue everywhere.
Thanks for such a thorough comparison Simon! I've debated between these & the white waffle flower stencil mat with the 2 raised edges. I have a couple questions. 1. Does the white WF mat really grip the stencil? I'm thinking not, that you just line it up in the corner. I know that's great for layering stencils. 2. Does the WF photopolymer mat have the grid printed or is it Just slightly smaller that the mat do the mat still grips to your surface? 3. With one of these mats is there anything I'm not thinking of that you would still use the magnetic property of the glassboard for? I do want a white glass mat rather than the black TH one I have now but there are many non magnetic ones that are a lot more affordable. I appreciate you answering these if you have time. Ok one more question. Would my Gel press plate work just as well? I won't be using this in a stamping platform since I have a stamparatus from Stampin Up.
Really interesting because I have just brought the white with gold boarder ,on the right side.... sorry I forgot what it is called .... I have some stencils but I pageant used them
Hi Simon, I really enjoy your videos. Do you have a video for beginners? Or perhaps suggestions for someone who has never done any of this before but would like to try? Just a list a the basics to build on? Thank you.
A great video Simon! I will order the waffle flower one , the one who fits in the big misti. I love your products by the way. Bought some christmas stamps!! (-:
We are told (if you listen to Create and Craft) that the Stampwheel mat could be washed with water and dish soap and would just get sticky again. Wrong?
Correct! I washed it with water in the video and the stickyness comes right back once it dries. It’s because the photopolymer material is naturally sticky instead of it being an adhesive based product. :)
I enjoy your videos and have watched you for some time and if I could please make one suggestion…I don’t know if it is because I am older or from the south but it would be very much appreciated if you could speak a little slower. Thank you! Blessings!
Go into settings (the gear icon, typically in the upper right corner of the video)and you can adjust the speed to faster or slower. I hope this tip helps!
Great video. How do you think these compare to the Tim Holtz media grip mats? Everyone used it until they weren’t available. And then we never heard much more about them.
Hi friends! I hope you found this comparison super helpful. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. :)

Made my own sticky mat by cutting up a light grip cricut mat. Works so far.
Thank you.
I have the TH grey mat and it doesn’t stick near as well as these clear photopolymer ones!
I also found the TH grey mats don’t hold the cardstock well. I was disappointed and will buy the sticky mats Simon compared.
Thanks very much for these tips on grip mats Simon. I’m just now deciding on a grip mat-so very timely. (Watching from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦 )
When I got the Waffel Flower mat I wasn’t sure why it came with 2 grid sheets. So I put one under the Stampwheel mat to give it the grid it needs.
I had the Misti first, then recently purchases the Stampwheel from Scrapbook with $10.00 off. I love them both. I also purchased new sticky mats for the Misti..wow...super sticky...was hard to get the card stock off and it warped my card! The 100# and 110# cardstock did better. Thank you. Between you & Jennifer McGuire I feel well prepared. I have a Waffle Flower mat coming. I would love the Stamp Wheel, but I have 2 positioners already (not Misti).
Thanks for this comparison! I bought the 6x6 and it fits perfectly in my We R precision press! Works great!
Thank you for the tips on the sticky mats. I have the stamp wheel, so now I can use that mat more. Blessing to you.
I have bought the Altenew one a couple of weeks ago because of the ability to do circular stamped pattens with it. You can get alignment guides for it too, which I also got which makes it easy to place your card in the right place. Thanks for your review!

Yay! You are going to love it. The way it grips the stencils is just perfection. :)

I learned so much for your video, especially that tip about how to put down your stencils. Thanks so much for all the great information.

I have previously ordered my Waffle Flower sticky mat for my stamping tool. It is set to be delivered coming Monday. Thank you for the review! 👍
Love the comparison on both plus the amazing tips and tricks on the way through the video.
Great demonstration of both mats! I have both and love them both. I do not have the wheel from Altenew and feel that I do not need it because of my Misti. I love that I do not need magnets or tape. Thanks again!
Thanks Simon, great of you to demo all the different uses of these mats.
Thank you for the comparison. I don’t have either yet but I am considering them for sure.
I really believe you were put on this earth to take all of my money :) Thank you for this fantastic comparison, I can't wait to order mine.
You are answering my questions that I have been trying to find. Thanks Simon.
Thanks, Simon!

Thanks, Simon. I like the different sizes of the Waffle Flower grip mats.

Good comparison. I'll probably will end up with both.

Thanks, Simon, I have the waffle flower sticky mats and am loving them. I appreciate the tips for using them.
Thanks Simon, this demo was very good and I plan on ordering both. Seems to really work well with both tools.Enjoyed so much!

Thank you for sharing your opinions of experience on these sticky mats! You did a fantastic job. ❤❤❤
Your flower die cuts are gorgeous. The dies cuts are big enough to color with inks.
I recently ordered the 6.5x8.5 for my MISTI & I bought the ultra sticky mat & alignment guides after your last Stampwheel video! Super excited to have them all in my craftroom!!
Thanks for the comparison Simon, it was super informative. It was helpful in answering all my wonderings. Have an amazing weekend Cheers Donna Z 😊

Enjoyed all of the comparisons of the mats. But loved your cards more of course. I do have the glassboard studio which I like for stenciling.
Thanks so much for this video. Great comparisons. I ordered the waffle flower mat that fits in my Misti. ❤

A very good comparison. Thank you.
I’ve been hoping to see a comparison of sticky mats. Thx😊
very informative video. Love how you explain everything so well.

If it loses it's stickiness then shouldn't you just wash it with soap & water, like we do with clear stamps?
Thank you for both of your grip mat videos, The tips are really helpful. Great videos
Thank you for this video Simon. Quite helpful for my next purchase!
Simon, your videos are always so helpful. Thanks so much.
Really appreciate this comparison. Thank you so much!
Thank you for a wonderful product comparison and super techniques! I am loving my WF mats! 🧑🏼🎨😀👏🏻👏🏻
Altenew does offer alignment guides for card sizes for the Stampwheel
Loving my new grip mat! Thanks for your video❤️😀

Thanks for the review! Now I know I need one LOL! If gluing die cuts like that, and glue gets on the mat, how does the glue clean off? I always get glue everywhere.
Such a good video with lots of great useful information.
Thank you Simon I love the grid that you are use they look very good could you till how much are they.

Awesome video Simon-Thanks!
Thx so much…great comparisons…very informative!!
Very helpful and clear.
thanks for all the information....I really appreciate it. pat
Hi Simon! Thanks for the comparison. How do these compare to the SSS/Brutus Monroe Stamp & Stick mat?
A great video Simon! I will order the waffle flower one , the one who fits in the big misti. I love your products by the way. Bought some christmas stamps!! (-:
Great video Simon! ❤
When you peeled off the acetate of the super sticky mat, it had a grid on it. Couldn’t you use that underneath?
After your sticky mat loses its stickiness all you need to do is wash it under running water and let it dry. The stickiness returns.
Do any of the mats fit into the Tim Holtz stamp positioner???
Thank you😊😊😊
I enjoy your videos and have watched you for some time and if I could please make one suggestion…I don’t know if it is because I am older or from the south but it would be very much appreciated if you could speak a little slower. Thank you! Blessings!
Go into settings (the gear icon, typically in the upper right corner of the video)and you can adjust the speed to faster or slower. I hope this tip helps!
Thank you
Any idea if the Waffle Flower mat will work in a TH stamp platform as it doesn’t have the spring door like the Misti?
Which size would fit in the Tim Hold stamp platform??😊
Great video. How do you think these compare to the Tim Holtz media grip mats? Everyone used it until they weren’t available. And then we never heard much more about them.
Could he have been sued for copyright? Sounds similar to stamp positioners disappearing.
Love from Holland!
I wonder if u could use these mats in die cut machines to hold the diecuts and paper? Just wondering
@simon.hurley, do you suggest using press and seal under the cap of your pastes in between uses????
I have the Tonic stamp platform but am unsure if it works for that. I can’t s em to figure it out.
Simon where did you get your stamp pressure tool
Can I ask you would you till me if the map works with Tim Holt stamping press.
What I the size for the sticky mat for the stamp wheel..I have a tonic tim Holtz stamp
So does the stamp wheel come with the sticky Matt or is that separate.
you can rinse them under water and even use some soap and they will get sticky again.
