Me too, I have two of my three regular sized Mistis with those WaffleFlower sticky mats. And then I have the other regular Misti ready to go for rubber stamps. I also have one of their sticky mats for my mini Misti. I would love one for my scrapbook size Misti, but I probably couldn’t afford it.
And, of course, Waffle Flower is coming out with a bunch of photopolymer sticky mats in different sizes to fit the different sizes of Mistis and their stencil mats. They're also creating some grid mats to use with the sticky mats to help with alignment. I'm not sure when the official release date is for those, but they'd be less expensive than buying the full Stampwheel. But another use for the Stampwheel is being able to set up layering stamps or just multiple stamps for a card in different quadrants and on both sides. Useful for those who like to mass produce cards. You put the card in one corner, line up a stamp, then move to another corner and line up another stamp. You can line up to 8 stamps that way by using both sides of the wheel.

Hi Mary, this video was so helpful. I really appreciate your videos. I know it takes a ton of time with the accompanying video editing. I look forward to each and every one of your videos.
I don’t use the Stamp Wheel as much as I thought I would. Mostly because it’s awkward to use in my small craft space. If I had a large cleared off table, I’m pretty sure I would be using it a lot more. I have just ordered their 9 x 12 sticky mat and I’m hoping to be able to use that for stencils.

Hey Mary! Great Video, as usual! I didn't even think about the Crafter's Square mat to use in my stamping platforms! I bought a couple to use with the Joy. Great Idea. Wish I would have been told that before I bought the Waffle Flower one - but, supporting a small company with the options of it being see-thru and having additional grids is a plus. I really wanted the Stamp Wheel when I first saw it revealed, but the price point is a bit outta my budget. I could get so many supplies with that one cost. Thank you for everything you do for us!! ♥.
I have both the Waffleflower mat that fits in my Misti and the Altenew mat. Love them both! At this point I see no need to purchase the whole Wheel. Good demonstration! Thanks!
Think of the stamp wheel as a 3 for 1 tool: make wreaths, a plain stamp tool and a removable sticky mat for stenciling. Makes the price a bit easier to justify purchasing on a craft budget on?
The ONLY reason I would even consider the stamping wheel is for multi-step layering stamps. I thought it was much larger when they first presented it - it looked more 12x12 🤷♀️ I bet you could cut that mat down to fit “that other platform” (that I refuse to support) you’d just need to remove the foam pad 🤷♀️. Thanks Mary ❤️
You're totally right! I only really paid attention to the size after reading your comment. It's only about 8x8. I had assumed 12x12, too. Not that 8x8 is bad...it's just important to know. I also refuse to support that other company - outrageously priced for what it is and mostly because it is tooooooo litigious in a community that is generally so supportive of each other.
Tim Holtz had a gray grip mat roll. It didn't have any markings, but there was enough to cut several sizes. I cut one just a hair smaller than A2 and slimline and use it with my glass mat for ink blending and bigger for stenciling.
Thank you for your thorough explanation. I ended up purchasing the Waffle flower grip mats and also a large grip mat from another company. The advantage to the large one is that you put your inks on it and they don't shift around. I mostly use my 6X6 for stenciling though. It's just a handy size. I also keep the grip mat sized for Misti in my Misti all the time now. No more tape and no more shifting.
Thanks for the review. I do not see using the stamp wheel in my crafting. I will continue with my Misti, my Gina K wreath builder when I want a circular wreath, my Misti Sticky Mats, and my Make Art Station for stenciling. It holds the stencils down with magnets. It is nice to see the many products available for those needing or wanting the products.
LoL that sticky pun I'm actually laughing 😅 Ok well, smiling really big 😁 w/ a chuckle Does that count as laughing ...? & it was audible (but not really loud) I know, technicalities.
This was really helpful. I keep looking at that Stampwheel mat, but, like you said, it's kind of expensive. I tried the $ Tree sticky mat and it works pretty well, but I don't think the sticky lasted as long as I would've liked. Then I started to do the math and realized it was a better deal to get a pack of 3 12x12 Nicapa mats from Amazon and cut them down to fit my stamp positioner. I've also been using an old unbranded Silpat kind of mat for ink blending and smooshing. I think I got it on clearance at Walmart for $3. It holds my ink pads in place, too, which is a nice bonus. Thank you for all you do to help us save money!
I use those silicone mats you can buy for your hot glue gun and cut them to the size I need. It works pretty good for keeping ink pads from sliding around. I also use the same cutting mats from Amazon and cut them to fit my Misti.

Hello Mary, excellant tutorial, very detailed , and precise. This helped me a lot. I’m on a very serious budget , but need something serious to hold my cards down while. cresting. Tyfs
I have most of those options, but my favorite is the Waffle Flower grip mat because I can put it in my Misti. They also have different sizes so I can use a larger one for stenciling. I make 5x7 cards, so the bigger size is awesome. The best part is it lasts a really long time. Using the Stamp Wheel mat outside of the Stamp Wheel is too distracting to have the grid showing lol
Great info. Whatever happened with the Tim Holtz Media Grip mats? It was popular on RUclips when it was released, then it was out of stock. And then no one ever showed it being used again. It was a gray mat, that many were cutting up to various sizes.
Yeah, Tim Holtz has one that is thin (and less expensive). It's designed to be cut up to use as you see fit. You can create different sizes for cardstock and to use as ink holders. He demoed it a few months ago. I think Jennifer McGuire also did a video on them. They recommended getting the Simon Says Stamp document holder to put your cut pieces in to store them.
I use my Tim Holtz grip mats for lots of different things: inside my stamping platforms to hold the paper without worrying that the paper will stick; under items I'm using on my glass mat (ink pads, other sticky mats) so they don't shift, for stenciling, mixed media projects. I cut them to fit the task - stamp positioner size, card stock size, stencil size, ink pad size, whatever it is I want to stay in place without using adhesive. So far the only issue I can see is they MUST be kept clean so if you have issues with animal hair or excessive dust, you need to wash them to maintain their grip. I have six so far. It may be enough for now.
I remember that one! What did happen to that? If I am completely honest I feel let down by TH products that are not his inks, stamps and stencils sometimes.
That is a clever tool but $99.00 is outrageous for a few pieces of plastic that probably are pretty inexpensive to produce. There may be a way to create your own wheel that would achieve the same thing for alot less. Those various sticky mats are nice to have. I have heard alot of good things about Sticky Grid by Ranger. They are fairly inexpensive and I think you get more than one sheet in a pack.
I’ve seen several videos on the stamp wheel. I cannot justify the cost. But that’s just me. I hate to say this, but I may wait for a knock off. And I hate doing that!!!!!
I feel like these expensive grip mats are just the same as a gel plate. And I want to use them to hold stencils. I can make my own large gel plate for under $15. What do you think?
Mary I bought the stampwheel mat and was using it on my lazy susan and I love it. I keep the gridded topper on it when not in use. I was on vacation for 6 weeks and apparently the topper grid stuck to my mat and when I peeled off the topper, bits of the grid stuck and the mat is no longer sticky. Do you know if anyone else has had this problem? I ordered the rombow tacky glue like you suggested to see if that will work. I washed the mat with dawn and dried, laid it in the sun, nothing worked.
Oh no! That is awful! I haven't heard about that although I know when I put the acetate to my stamps on incorrectly the ink from the acetate image sticks to my stamps causing that issue. I wonder if you placed the grid sheet on "backwards". I would recommend contacting the company to share this with them and see if they'll send you a new one.
Sry to Ms Barbara for all the headache & frustration!! I pray your situation will be resolved swiftly. Sending 🫂 hug **should be pinned as the top comment so everyone will know how to store stamp wheels. Thank you
Hello, thank you for all this information!! I appreciate it all. Can you link below your camera and shelves behind you? I am looking for a clear camera. I am new to RUclips and need storage cheaper for my stamps than stamp n storage.
I clicked the link & yes it works; However my phone went *black* It closed the window & I couldn't get RUclips back up... I was almost frantic for a few minutes... I clicked reset phone Held my breath It took longer than it should... my mind was racing oh no maybe virus or hackers?? We have subscriptions for all our devices & no warnings showed up. Then ahhh the phone was back on! Whew! That was a scare.... Just thought I'd let ya know my experience clicking the camera link was... Posted Nov 8.2024
So helpful Mary! Two questions please, which sticky mats are sticky on both front & back? Do you prefer the sticky mat vs the altenew mat to stamp & stencil on?
I think because of price and practicality I would go for a thinner sticky mat with stick on both sides but larger than these. I don't know actually which is sticky on both sides (the thin ones I mean). The photopolymer version like the one out of the stampwheel is sticky on both sides.
Pulling the grid off the Altenew Stampwheel mat seems such a pity ... I'm sure I saw people using it with the grid on and under the mat. And here's one other thing: When new products - "game changers" - come out, I always do a general search, either via google or on the website of one or more of those Asian platforms. Not because I want to buy a piracy copy, but because the blending brushes have definitely taught me that crafting items were not necessarily "born" as crafting items! In the case of sticky mats, I found some mats for the car that are supposed to stop small items or even mobiles from sliding around. Now those are smallish, but work great for most of my card panels. Mine is a little over 10.5"x5 3/4". It is the stickiest thing since chewing gum under a desk, but without the hassle of getting it off. I think I paid the whooping amount of 3 Euros for it. And I'm totally in love with it! It's a good idea to put the protective covers back on after use so you don't have to wash (and dry ... tick tock tick tock ...) it too often.
I have to have another look at the grid coming off because it was weird to me that it was removeable; seemed like a useful addition but couldn't figure out how to keep it.
Since the grid sheet for the Stamp Wheel was removed, what is it for? (The two-handedness of the Stamp wheel doesn’t thrill me.) And thanks for the info and for making me laugh, as usual! I have to go back and remember what you said. You laughed too so my laughing was with you, not at you!
@@marypolancodesigns right, I agree. But how is the grid sheet used? Maybe how I use a small Simon grid sheet in a stamp positioner? Put stamps on the cardstock and pick them up with the top of the positioner. Place the grid sheet on the cardstock and stamp to see if you’ve lined things up how you want. Then remove grid sheet and stamp. (Or reposition stamps and try again.)
You have to remove the photopolymer mat to use it with red rubber stamps. Maybe stick the red rubber stamp in the platform and tape your cardstock to the wheel? On the Altenew site, they said you may have to press a little harder to make up any difference in height.
Stamp wheel is way overpriced as is a lot of Altenew products. TH grip mat is nothing more than the silicone mats you can buy for hot gluing. Cut it up to whatever size you want. It holds ink pads in place but doesn’t hold cardstock all that well for stenciling.
I bought a roll of Contact paper at the Dollar Store and attached it with tape UPSIDE DOWN to my MISTI mat. It works great!
Yes.. it how long will it last

@@marypolancodesigns Thanks Mary I will do that.
Sry to Ms Barbara for all the headache & frustration!!
I pray your situation will be resolved swiftly.
Sending 🫂 hug

Thank you
Thank you for all the info!
My pleasure
Hello, thank you for all this information!! I appreciate it all. Can you link below your camera and shelves behind you? I am looking for a clear camera. I am new to RUclips and need storage cheaper for my stamps than stamp n storage.
Absolutely!
Here is the camera: amzn.to/3OCdyjy
And the shelves are from Ikea: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/billy-bookcase-white-30263844/
I clicked the link & yes it works;
However my phone went *black* It closed the window & I couldn't get RUclips back up...
I was almost frantic for a few minutes...
I clicked reset phone
Held my breath
It took longer than it should...
my mind was racing
oh no maybe virus or hackers??
We have subscriptions for all our devices & no warnings showed up.
Then ahhh the phone was back on! Whew! That was a scare....
Just thought I'd let ya know my experience clicking the camera link was...

@@marypolancodesigns thank you!
Why would the grid have to come off the stamping wheel mat? Surely it must have a reason to be there? Just wondering....
I really do not know! I probably did something wrong. If I don't remove it though, it doesn't hold still from the bottom.
I am guessing the tool is intended as a multi tool; stamp positioner, wreath builder and sticky mat.
Does the stamp wheel work with red rubber?
Really great question but I don't have any to try.😔
Yes, you can but you have to be mindful of their thickness and the thickness of the cardstock that you are using.
You have to remove the photopolymer mat to use it with red rubber stamps. Maybe stick the red rubber stamp in the platform and tape your cardstock to the wheel? On the Altenew site, they said you may have to press a little harder to make up any difference in height.
@@navoff1 wonder if a piece of craft foam would work after taking the photopolymer mat out?
Were the coffee stains Distress Oxide Antique Linen?
Yes they were
Wow, love that stamp wheel but 🤔🤑
I know right
Si può usare anche il Gelli plate....
Is the mat on the wheel like a gelli plate?
A Gelli plate is softer and not as sticky. They are not interchangeable, from what I have seen elsewhere on RUclips.
I would love to get the Stampwheel but the 💰 is too much!
Yeah its pricey. Watch out for sales around the holidays.
Stamp wheel is way overpriced as is a lot of Altenew products. TH grip mat is nothing more than the silicone mats you can buy for hot gluing. Cut it up to whatever size you want. It holds ink pads in place but doesn’t hold cardstock all that well for stenciling.
It's really good to use discernment when trying to find products for our room so this is very true.
T4s
You are one smart lady! However...this thing costs 100.00!!!!
Oh I know, that's why I stated it was a bit too expensive in the video. Yikes. lol
Let's face it, sticky mats are helpful, but we REALLY don't need them. Call me a party pooper, but I have torn cardstock on a sticky mat.
Facts...I can name about 42 things I don't need in my craft space...but I do love them. lol
