Learn how to create High Contrast Black & White Conversion in Photoshop CC 2022.
In this Photoshop CC tutorial I demonstrate how to change a regular photo into a high contrast black & white image with drama. This effect is done by using a variety of adjustment layers (gradient map, perceptual, levels, curves and Black & White) along with Camera Raw Filter (clarity and contrast) and some layer masking (spotlight effect).

Is there a difference between using a gradient map layer or a levels adjustment layer? They seem like they do the same thing in this situation.

Sorry, When you have made the last modify, have you join the levels? If the answer is yes, which metod have you used to join the levels? I'm not practise and i'm studying PS now and i have not understand how to save the file after this work with all the levels. Thanks!

When I try to “convert to smart object” it disappears instead. And it also says layer 3 instead of one. Can anyone help?
