    I was relieved to see that good looking oil come out of the water pump end! If a supercharger is dry the PTO gears need be inspected with a bore scope or by opening. The proper Eaton oil is available at SCOL.

    Why not degrease and wire brush everything before reassembly?

    Can you do this with the motor still in the car and what about the belts can you just take them off and put them back on or is there something I need to know about them

      You can do it with the motor still attached to the car. You just need to put it in frontend service mode

    Any tips getting that green gasket end of the intake tube back in? I’m having trouble getting it to seat properly.

      @aDIYCarGuy  6 лет назад +2

      put the gasket onto the supercharger first, then put the intake tube on, muscle it on a little bit, it's a tight fit, sorry for the late reply

    I am looking at a Mini Cooper S and was wondering how many miles before this service needs done?

    • @nelsonglover3963
      @nelsonglover3963 3 года назад

      People seem to say ~100k miles, BMW doesn't give a service interval as they believe the supercharger oil to last the lifetime of the car.

    @aDIYCarguy dose ANYBODY know where in the hell i can buy some of this oil?
    I mean, I know I can buy it off of Pelican parts, Amazon or Ebay online but does anybody happen to know if Napa, AutoZone, O'Reilly's ECT carries it?

      I found going straight to a GM dealership they have these bottles. And it was cheaper than ordering online.
      I believe around 10$ Canadian it cost me per bottle.

    Caramelly oil. Good is better than black or no oil. You didn't want to change the water pump all together?

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  7 лет назад +1

      for sure. nah no pump change, it was still tight and working, corrosion on the flange, but still good enough imo. would have been the easiest time to change it of course.

  • @miniworxx2016

    I can't work it out, the PTO end with the water pump was empty, no oil at all, why on earth did he just fill it up when the gears would have been driven dry causing all sorts of wear to the gear teeth, bearings etc. Same on the pulley end hardly any came out. You need to remove both chamber covers to fully inspect the gearing and see what actual debris is in there.....very poor service. That charger mast have been making one hell of a noise !

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  4 года назад +1

      There was oil that came out on the water pump side, did you stop watching the video before the oil actually poured out? I didn't show draining the other side so how do you know how much oil was in there? Very poor assumptions.

    • @miniworxx2016
      @miniworxx2016 4 года назад +1

      @@aDIYCarGuy Regardless there was no where near 40ml which will mean gear & bearing wear, both chamber caps need removing for inspection period. ruclips.net/video/97-7VTZLpv4/видео.html

    Need to turn the rotor to get all the oil out or half of the oil will stays inside the charger. This is half a job
