    Wow what an adventure, what a video!! Love it. Can literally feel the heartbreak when you have to call it, hope now that some time has passed you realize how blessed you are to have experienced such a journey, and what a very very wise decision you made to get out before the storm hit. Great debrief at the end. Terrific video, thanks!!

    The hardest part about any adventure is deciding when it’s time to call it quits. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come close to death and wish I had the wisdom to turn back sooner. Nice video.

      Thanks! Yeah I get it. This wasn’t an easy decision, but I’m thankful I was able to think clearly about it since I’ve also been in many near death situations myself

    Thank you. Great filming and narration. I was saddened that you were forced off the trail by the hurricane. You were doing so well, with so much enthusiasm. You’re young and will hopefully have another chance. Don’t skip any trail. Keep trying for another permit. Good luck!

    The bridge over the San Joaquin was removed a couple of weeks ago. A trail maintenance crew had set up camp near it and I talked to a ranger about the replacement bridge. She had no timeline but was reassuring that the new bridge would be installed ASAP. I finished up that section on 9/19. Good video and thanks for posting.

    • @robbietreks
      @robbietreks  Год назад

      Yeah I heard! The crew was doing trail maintenance about 500 yards from the bridge the day I crossed. They were making their way toward it. I think they set up camp at the bridge a day or two after we crossed. I heard something like 2 years out for a new bridge but that’s all speculation haha

    Great job you two! Sorry to see that you had to cut it short because of the hurricane :( Such a gamble with the weather and fires when you're out there so long huh?! Amazing how fast the snow melts. We were out there just a couple of weeks later, and there was so much less snow than what ya'll had to deal with. Loved the review at the end!

    Best advice I did PCT in 2011 and swore if I ever did it again I would ware hiking boots in the JT . My ultras were awesome from Mexico to the JT and exiting the JT to Canada but in hindsight boots are a better choice for the JT note I have hiked over 40,000 mile not an amateurs.

    • @robbietreks
      @robbietreks  3 месяца назад

      I think it depends on the months you’re hiking. I had boots on here and it was miserable. Wish I had trail runners even through the snow 😅

    Hmm - on day 17, where you said you were at Lower Palisade Lakes, you show Evolution Creek and McClure meadow (11:48 in your video). I know that particular site very well (The Hermit is the rounded granite peak behind McClure meadow), but that is in Evolution Valley, on the north side of Muir Pass, so that clip is definitely out of order. Just FYI...

    • @robbietreks
      @robbietreks  10 месяцев назад

      Oh we didn’t. We carried 5-7 days at a time. We had three supply points along the way where we had shipped food ahead to ourselves. That was the biggest challenge when planning the whole trip!
