Hi all. I know this video is long. I decided to make it into one long video because that's what felt right to me. Don't forget you can watch faster. If you click into the settings icon on the video, you can change playback speed. I like to watch videos at 1.25x speed. But 1.5x is also not a bad option! Hope you enjoy this video. We had a great time on this trip.

I loved this! At 74 with 2 hip replacements I no longer backpack although I still get out for hikes and take lots of van camping trips. I live in Washington State now but grew up hiking and backpacking in the Sierras when I lived in California. My dad and brother hiked the JMT but I had children to raise and could not go but earlier trips had taken me to Thousand Island and Garnet Lakes and I did Mt. Whitney as a day hike from the other side after my children were grown. Lots of Yosemite trips and hikes and even a snowshoe trip in Winter. (I have bear stories too). Anyway thank you for these beautiful videos. Just the right amount of "story", just the right length, and awesome photography.

Thanks for the comment of bumping the speed ,, have never done that before and it had it's moments of gained humor but really fit nicely.. ( put a little extra pep in your step ,,not that you guy's needed it but put you in beast mode )... I’m heading out of Cottonwood Lakes at the end of June. Just a section up to Kearsarge. Then I’ll head home for a week, then back for another section. I’ll do that for July and part of August. It’s a bit of a nuisance coming and going from each trailhead, but I don’t want to take 20-ish days off work.
For the rest of the summer I’ll be popping up to that area for three-day trips. Pretty darn nice.
I’ll probably watch your video another time or two while I walk on the treadmill for an hour at a time with my backpack on. Got to keep my brain happy while I exercise. Thanks for your reply!

Wow. Finally able to see what the two of your went through. Great video because I felt as though I was THERE, excellent job. I did not realize you guys got that much rain. The moving tent incident was funny, not funny. Every time you walked by Carson, I really felt you would boop him a time or two-LOL! People don't realize altitude can make you sick but you pulled through it like a boss! Thank you for the pretty streams and waterfall footage - I "awww"ed at them each time. Don't think I missed seeing those Llamas-I saw them. All of it was great but I really liked Guitar Lake and seeing the Muir hut-that's amazing its still standing! Now you know how I felt when there was the whole damn desert and someone would camp 30ft from us and party all night. Well I have to tell you, I cried at the end of this video, just like the day I cried when you told us you were out! Amazing country, amazing views and amazing video. Thank you Amy and Carson for putting this video together so other people can enjoy or learn from it. Pretty damm good for a girl with the Lupes! I get a little sad every time I see the new suspension bridge over Woods Creek. The old bridge with individual wood slats - some broken - had a fond place in my heart. It looked like a back country bridge. Sorry to say, but, yes, not swimming at Lower Palisade Lake was a mistake. Best lake for swimming on the entire trail IMO. Great video by two great people. Great Video! I appreciate your adding location information throughout as it helps me place what I am seeing in the video with what I recall from my hike from Tuolumne Meadows to the exit over Kearsarge Pass a year ago in September. When I am finally able to finish the southern part of the JMT I will make a point of camping at that lake just north of Forester Pass per the recommendations from both of you. I had plans to finish that part in 2020 but the virus changed my plans; at 72, I thought I it wise to wait a while. I also found it hard to eat as much as I should and ended up losing more than a few pounds (a good thing). The one time I was actually famished was just at that Rock Monster's lair where I lounged and stuffed myself while sitting amongst the Rock Monster's half-formed brethren which were just to its left if you recall. And how brave of you to swim in that cold cold water! I longed to do that at Thousand Islands Lake and even more so at beautiful Rae Lakes but the water was just freezing cold even in September; a good long soak at the hot springs near MTR was a real treat however. It was a wonderful hike, my longest so far. I especially remember the people I encountered every day; funny with all the incredible views, it still is the people you remember most vividly. Happy Trails, I hope to meet you hiking one day!

Awesome JMT NOBO video. I plan on doing it with a backpacking buddy of mine around the end of Aug. next year. We are in our 50s so won’t be doing any 24+ mile days. We plan on doing it in around 19, hopefully that works out. I really like the video style of the after hike recap/thoughts for the day. Great mix of scenery, campsites, commentary, etc. on the trail. I think it’s the best one I’ve watched and I’ve watched a lot. Thanks for sharing!!

Incredible scenery!! And the pit toilet near the start had me chuckling quite a bit, as that's what most backcountry toilets are like up here, but they're usually a green plastic barrel looking thing. (we call them green thrones)
And 100% truth on struggling to get the ring on with swollen fingers! I proposed to Lindsay on a summit in Jasper, and the ring barely got on her finger.
Great video Amy, this is a bucket list trip!

Yay! I've been waiting for this! Thanks for the shout out - I'm glad you were able to use the Expedition - that thing is a beast, but so much lighter than other options. It makes a great seat too! Funny - I have the exact same view/video @33:43 - that lone tree up on the mountainside reminded me of a chicken. I'm bummed you had so much wind at Lake Helen - that had to be some of the clearest water I've ever seen in a lake. And it tasted so good too! I totally agree with you about Evolution Basin. It was the most epic of all the areas I have been to (so far). We camped near the spot you showed on your video @37:28 on the south-east side of the Evolution Lake. The pikas were plentiful in the area and made a ton of noise while we camped there. It was very cool. You and Carson did an amazing job documenting your journey - thanks for taking us along!
