I completely concur. I'm 80 and have hiked sought adventure since my Company sent me on a Outward Bound Course for a month in mid November in the very North of Scotland. Travelling and meeting people is the essence of a life well lived.
I’m 71 years old and just starting my dream of hiking the PCT. Worked 45 years as an ICU / ER Nurse, married 48 years, two sons and 5 grandchildren . Now it’s my time to do what I’ve always wanted to do. I am one year post two knee replacements. Last week I did my first 4 miles on the PCT. Next June, I will be 72 years old, hiking with my 71 yer old brother on the PCT. I am very excited to start my new journey.
@@Vggfdd-kj9kj It is NEVER too late to change. ive been homeless for most of my life due to my family. Unfortunately i had to cut them off and go out on my own. but you meet many great people on your journey. ive now built my house from the ground up. its 10x20 and by no means is it fancy, but its a long way from where i was just 5 years ago. sometimes the hardest thing to do is to start, but its always worth it in the longrun
courtney- i first came across this film as a 17-year-old, fresh out of high school and in the workforce, sad and disillusioned with life and wondering if this was all life would ever be. the magic that you captured in an hour of film caught hold of me and worked its way into my heart...and the dreaming started. two years later and...i cross the bridge into washington today. i came back to this video with a few friends, thinking to revisit the beginning of it all, just before the beginning of the end. thank you for being the first little window into such a beautiful life. thank you.
"And then it's done, your footprints washed away in the rain." When you're older young people will start to ask...what does it feel like to be 50? or 60? or 80? To me it feels like this, you're walking the trail and there are glorious moments and painful ones and the further along you get the more you want to see thru to the end but you feel the bittersweet longing for the excitement of when you started. The wisdom that comes was hard earned but worth the pain and you know as you watch loved ones cross over we were only ever meant to be passing thru.
As an Oregonian it’s been a lifelong dream to thru hike the PCT. I’ve made plans to do it for my 50th year on earth. These videos fuel that dream and the more I watch the more I want it. Thank you for making this for everyone to experience a small part of the trail with you.
Wow dude. This is incredible. I'd suggest you consider sending it into a film festival or two for consideration. They might need you to re-edit it to fit their criteria but this is so good I think you might have a decent chance at winning. I really enjoyed watching this.
@@courtneyevewhite awesome 👏 job both physically and creatively as well. To self document a hike of that magnitude is pure genius. Gorgeous landscapes! I am a native Californian. So, well traveled in this state. Thank you for taking such pains to get us the visuals of the west and PNW. Once again kudos to you.
Incredibly beautiful your film, especially your ending thoughts on reaching Canada. As a young person I also had a yearning to hike, unfortunately the closest I came was a month long ride across country on a motorcycle and a tent plus various artist in residence in various countries. Those memories are always with me at 61 years young. There is a saying in spanish that is “que me quiten lo bailado “ “take away from me the dances” Is a saying relating to the end of life as you look back and only have your memories, and you will definitely have amazing memories. Thank you from Miami for this beautiful film.
Young lady, I want to thank you for making and sharing your video. I’m sure it took a lot of time to put together. Last night I was stressed out. Bills, career, cars, wife, kids, clutter around the house, all the trappings of a western life had pushed and built up around me. I went for a 5 mile run, took a nice cool shower, cracked a cold beer and somehow stumbled across your video. I watched a bit, felt my mind drift off to my home state of California and faded to sleep. This morning I made my coffee and sat in the big chair to watch the rest. I could literally feel the stress continuing to drain out of my body as I watched the rest of your story. I’ve never done the PCT or any long distance hike like that, but it has tickled my imagination for years now. Someday, someday I will join you and the others to earn that hiker smell, look down at my worn down shoes, endure a sore body and the store away memories of sights and experiences that will travel with me for a lifetime, just as they do for you. Thank you again. All the best. Brian
"And into the forest I must go, to loose my mind and find my soul" my favorite quote, by John Muir. The older I get, the more it applies Lol. God bless you all
I had not idea that people were so generous on these hiking trails. Trail Angels!! Bless you all!! If I lived near one of these trail systems that is something I would totally get into!! Living vicariously through others and providing something small that is so huge. I love it!!!
This is perhaps the best PCT video I've seen yet. Thank you for sharing the magic with us. You mentioned that "the itching begins before the scratching is over". Listen to those itches and find your next adventure. We can't wait to see what you do next, and we can only hope that you'll share it again with us!
Thank you so much, what a huge compliment! Yes, planning the next thing already. I can’t wait to be on trail again and of course I hope to share it too 😊
Wow, somehow this got suggested to me on my homepage and I am very grateful to the algorithm that it did. Incredible film... And then I noticed it was your first video and you had under 2k subs... What a start to a channel Courtney. The visuals are stunning but it's the voice-over that keeps you engaged for the whole thing. Heartfelt, human and real. Had me teary-eyed multiple times. Can't wait to see your coming adventures! Much love and congrats!
Honestly when I saw the length of this video I was like no way but I ended up enjoying the whole thing. Thank you so much for sharing your delightful adventure. Please share more of your journey with us!

"The itching begins before the scratching is over." That's brilliant. What a great way of describing that ever present love to see what's new, and where the things we care about can take us.
"Forced me to get introduced to parts of myself I haven't met". Thank you, that may be the best sentence I've ever heard to explain endurance sports or physical adventures. And thank you for documenting and sharing your adventure!
The cinematography, soundtrack, and simple narration was exceptional! Your documentary was extraordinary and perhaps the best 53:37 I've ever spent. Thank you for contructing this film and sharing your experience-of-a-lifetime. You did'nt make this thru-hike about yourself, but rather the visual and emotional experience you took...step-by-step. You have a real obvious gift for videography and storytelling. Sending you tons of love and future happiness from Ohio!!
I met a woman who had walked , with a group, across the U.S. for a cause, just after she had completed the trip. She was glowing, beautiful in the realest possible way. I saw that in you as well, and feel so enriched by the adventure you've shared. May you have many more grand adventures! Thanks also for the amazing music.
I never comment on RUclips videos but I watched this and cried. This was the most beautiful hiking video/film I have ever watched and I can’t wait to see what else you upload! Thank you for making this masterpiece X

Thank you for sharing your inspiring and affecting journey (and yes, I also adore the content of Tip Tap 🤩) Hope we see you back on trail soon. Michel aka Crosshair
Having been a wildland fire fighter for nearly a decade I recognize so many of these places, feelings and pain. This is motivation to start living again..
I'm watching this after being incredible inspired by two hikers who came and stayed in my house in Ashland on their way to Canada. Here I am crying at the magnitude of your accomplishment and the beauty through which you captured the experience. Thank you.
Exceptional film ! Had a total 'Into the Wild' meets 'Walter Mitty' feel to it. Award worthy editing. It must have been hard to edit it into just 1hr. "The itching begins before the scratching is over", really hits home to the heart of adventure.
Well what can I say? That is the best documentary / Movie I've seen in a very long time. You my friend, are a true story teller. Thanks for sharing such an epic experience. I loved it.
I’m a full grown ass bearded construction working man and had a few times I caught myself tearing up watching this wonderful video. This is a dream. Fantastic video.
This just now popped up in my recommended section. Can't believe the impact it still has a year later!!! Can't wait to watch it. I am 3 minutes in and HOOKED.
Stunning 🥾Heartfelt 🥾 Magical 🥾 Breathtaking 🥾Emotional 🥾Sacred 🌎 you captured it all in such an Epic way, thank you for bringing me along with you on your Captivating Adventure Courtney!!! You possess a real gift for storytelling!!! ☀️
I have such a sadness watching a video like this that I never got to do adventures like these in my twenties. Thank you so much for letting me share this beautiful adventure with you
That sound at 42:47, only hikers know that sad song. Pitter patter let's get after it. After the AT, I all but completely stopped consuming hiking videos. I had my fill of climbing mountains. Unlike most people, it took me 5 years to START missing it. Life, really is better on a trail. I enjoyed this vid.
I couldn't keep the tears from flowing watching this. It's been 3 years since my own PCT journey and watching this, so many feelings and experiences came flooding back. It's astounding really to think of how much that experience changed me and the path that I'm on today... and I think a part of me will always be homesick for that 2,650 mile ribbon of dirt that connected us all. Thanks for bringing me back!
Aw thank you for taking the time to watch Stephanie. I know that homesick feeling well. Congratulations on your hike and I hope to see you on trail some day :)
53minute of bravery and honesty,53 minutes to learn why not we should quit,53 minutes that sums up the months of dare and courage. My respect and praises for you.Way to go guys. The expressions and smiles at the end of this video worth everything.Inspired by your achievement.🙂
I dont know who you are Courtney, but when you touched the end point, i cried. i dont know why!!! this is by far the best video i ever watched in my life. thank you for uploading it. Quick couple questions: 1. how much of your 2.6k miles did you do it via shuttles/cars etc? and whats the purpose of doing that? is it coz there was no road for pedestrians or is it something else? 2. did you guys take days off along the journey? if so, how often?
Wow..... just FREAK'N WOW!!! What an epic journey Courtney. So glad I found this video. Absolutely had a few tears when you made the touch at the Terminus. Well done.
I've watched a lot of PCT videos, and this one captured my heart and soul. Wonderfully done, great narration and beautiful footage. What an amazing accomplishment. Liked and subscribed :)
This is absolutely the best film I have ever watched. So many emotions that I felt watching this. It has awakened some thing in me. And I’m truly feeling the most inspired I’ve ever felt thanks to you. Thank you for this extraordinary piece of art that you have shared with us
I enjoyed this so much, I was PCT class of ‘21. You captured it all so well thank you. I think of the PCT every day and it was the most fulfilling period of my life
Not enough words to describe this one. Courtney, this was simply amazing! Incredible job on the editing, narration, and music; i'm not a guy that typically gets emotional but this one stirred me a bit. I'm a dedicated backpacker and have done quite a bit of hikes - but most people just don't understand what you and the others accomplished.. what an undertaking that was for several months of your life. Well done and congrats to your tramily! 🏔🥾🥾👊
Absolutely beautiful, i feel this fire in my hearth, this energy on my soul, you even made my cry. im mexican, i love hiking, i did not know anything about PCT and now i just wanna try it. thank u for shareing this with us, i loved it. i hope i get to be there with my friends one day.
I watched this when it first came out which inspired me to commit to the PCT. Almost 2 years later I'm rewatching it in Vancouver after finishing the PCT yesterday. Happy to say my experience was just as magical as yours, it's funny watching it back now and being able to say 'I sat on that log'. Thank you for creating this masterpiece and hopefully many more people will be inspired, like me, to get out there and hike!
Courtney, this was by far one of the best PCT documentaries I've ever seen. I've been a fan of the hike from reading and watching videos and this film was incredible. Especially your unique way of describing the mental and emotional aspect that accompanies the physical demand fo the trek. Good on ya!
I dunno... I cried a bit. I went on a journey in 2009 when I was much younger. I hiked to 5000m over seven days with a small group in Sikkim India as part of a longer 3 months journey across the whole north. There were so many moments you had that brought it all back to me like it was yesterday. Thanks for sharing, this was great.
I started watching your vlog. And I quite enjoyed it, just happened to come across your video. And just glad it was an Aussie girl doing it well done, You are quite right when you say we are just passing through, and its life we only come this way once and you have to make the most of it.
Wow. Just wow. I had previously watched Elina's series as well as others. While the scenery is beautiful and part of why we watch, it is actually the writing that draws us in, just like every great book with no pictures always has. While you might have taken a similar journey as many others before and after will, this video is your own, uniquely you, and was truly a pleasure to enjoy.
Wow is about right. She’s basically ripped off Elina. Nothing original about any of this. Total rip right down to the thumbnail and voiceovers. Shameful
Wow. This is the most moving video I've ever seen. I feel inspired to hike the PCT. You showed the good moments but didn't forget to show where it went wrong and the tough times. Incredible Narration, music choice, and the scenes were breathtaking. Congrats on this huge accomplishment Courtney.
I was going to binge watch thru-hike docs today. After seeing yours, I have to change my plans; nothing else can match this one. Congratulations on your thru-hike, and thank you so much for sharing the beauty and the beast of such a hike. Bravo!
That's just beyond words Courtney. A beautiful film of a journey of a lifetime. You captured the joy, the pain, the beauty, and the emotional experience of it all. Having been to Washington State and BC a few times I could feel the build up to the ecstasy and the sadness awaiting your triumph at the end. Just beautiful!!
I work a 10 hour day 6 days a week...I needed to see this amazing film with photoequ views... thank you from northeast Texas I'm trying to hike the A.P. in a few years
Amazing. What a beautiful journey... I feel like an adventure like this is a metaphor for life. All the excitement at the beginning, the ups and downs in the middle, and the gratitude at the end that the Universe gave you a chance to experience it. Thank you for sharing this.
I walk nearly daily in the local cemetery, and sometimes I go over to the corner where all the babies are interred, and when you start reading the accounts of one day lives, and one month lives, and one year lives, it makes me think of everything you just wrote about the gratitude and the incredible gift of years that those of us around to Muse about it have been given .. I usually can’t spend very much time there because it’s so overwhelming that so many never had a chance to experience all of the things that the rest of us who get decades do…
I dont know why but this video has already made me tear up a few times and im barely 15 minutes in. Something about it is just, so pure and emotional even though its a very happy tone. The music, the narration, the journey; all of it combined has made me cry!
After finishing with lots of fire flopping my partner and I stayed at Dougs. He is such a kind soul, it gives me so much joy to hear his name in your video. Thank you for posting such a beautiful summary of your hike, creators like you really help with the post trail depression and loneliness.
Thanks Sophia! How good is Doug?! Dog snuggles and river swims, what more could a girl want? I hope the post trail depression isn’t treating you too poorly 😊
Who else is now in love with Courtney Queen of the Trail? Thank you for making this. I'm in awe of your vulnerability and your strength, your wonderful perspective and your ability to articulate your experiences so graciously.
I’m watching this now. Very well put together. This is the type of quality I’d go to a theater to see. Thank you for your efforts and sharing, it’s beautiful.
Congratulations on finishing the PCT.... I love peoples own stories and adventure channels better than professional television. Great job with narration and editing. I was actually sad at the end....Hope to see more adventures from you in the future.....
best video of a thru-hike I've ever seen. Appreciate all the views of the beauty! I'm 71, used to hike a lot, hoping to get back out there after a knee replacement (used to hike a LOT . . .). Every hike I've ever done remains a treasured memory - you never lose that.
This has brought me so many tears throughout the entire video. This was an absolutely beautiful documentary, and words can’t describe how it made me feel. Now, I am more thrilled and excited for the day I get to hike the PCT myself. Thank you again for this beautiful video. ❤
I really like your style of storytelling. After rewatching Tip Tap's series for so many times, it is enjoyable to see, how different people experienced the trail, how they interpret the PCT, show it in their stories. PS. As I noticed, you filmed a lot on DJI Osmo Pocket (beautiful cam). I got it after watching Elina's videos and, as for me, it is probably the best camera for such kind of filming.
Thank you so much! I love Elina’s work and was definitely very inspired by her 😊 yes, the DJI pocket is great, and so easy to just load all your footage into the cloud when you get to town or watch it back on your phone!
Finishing this with tears welling up in my eyes....... This was so beautifully put together.... I can feel the longing you speak of as I want to do a thru hike so badly and life and time will not allow me right now... Thank you for this :)
I’ve been dying to get into thru hiking like this after months of watching videos, training for distance runs and weightlifting for years. I have a 2 year old and I wonder if I’d be able to do this with her. Either way, how do I get into something like this? Where do you even meet people who enjoy stuff like this? I’m too afraid to go alone. I have plenty of friends, just we are all “city people” lol. They don’t like to do stuff like this. But what an inspiring video!!!
Sameeee I’ve been camping and doing backpack and style stuff, my whole life but none of my friends are into it and I don’t know if I could do this alone either - it’s definitely a dream trip to say the least!!!
Just finished watching this with my six year old daughter and it brought me to tears several times. Thank you for sharing this with us. Headed to the PCT someday. I think I was the 10,000th like too!
This was such a wonderful film. It made me emotional just watching you get to the end. I can’t imagine the feelings you were having of accomplishment and conclusion. Thank you for sharing such an amazing film and experience.
You are such a beautiful writer. I felt your words, your pain, and your yearning of missing the friends you made on the path. What a wonderfully captured video. I am truly moved.
I love watching these documentaries.. After many years of physical problems, I'm struggling to get strong enough just to go a few short miles on a hilly dirt road in my carribean country. When I'm out in the sun, sweating and getting tired, I like to pretend I'm on a hike like one in these videos and I've gone hundreds of miles. Somehow it makes me feel stronger and have a crumb more endurance. Thank you.
So many competing thoughts in my head as I type. Courtney - thank you for sharing your journey. I feel like you’ve given all of us who have watch (and those who will watch) a gift! Thank you. What an incredible journey, and while I don’t know you, I’m so proud of you. Gratitude…. Vince - Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I didn't want this to end and felt some sadness when it did. I join with everyone else who commented in saluting your bravery, determination, inspiration and joy in completing such a life affirming journey. Oh and this wasn't a vlog it's a documentary. Thank you for sharing. Simon of Suffolk (England).
This is so powerful. It’s so enlightening and strengthening knowing you are doing something that almost every animal and human has done since the beginning of time. It’s beautiful. I’m also a potter and it’s a similar feeling. Thanks for sharing this ❤️

Thank you so much for letting me share this beautiful adventure with you
you don't have to be in your 20s to go on adventures!
I'm 40 next year. I've only just begun mine..
This is incredible !
53minute of bravery and honesty,53 minutes to learn why not we should quit,53 minutes that sums up the months of dare and courage. My respect and praises for you.Way to go guys. The expressions and smiles at the end of this video worth everything.Inspired by your achievement.🙂
Thank you so so much!
I dont know who you are Courtney, but when you touched the end point, i cried. i dont know why!!!
this is by far the best video i ever watched in my life. thank you for uploading it.
Quick couple questions:
1. how much of your 2.6k miles did you do it via shuttles/cars etc? and whats the purpose of doing that? is it coz there was no road for pedestrians or is it something else?
2. did you guys take days off along the journey? if so, how often?
Wow..... just FREAK'N WOW!!! What an epic journey Courtney. So glad I found this video. Absolutely had a few tears when you made the touch at the Terminus. Well done.
Thank you so much Greg!
without the music
I’m sobbing! This was so beautiful.
Bout two minutes in and I can tell this is gonna be a banger. Really like the editing it’s fast paced but relaxing at the same time
I've watched a lot of PCT videos, and this one captured my heart and soul. Wonderfully done, great narration and beautiful footage. What an amazing accomplishment. Liked and subscribed :)
I have watched A LOT of PCT videos and this is one of the best. WELL DONE!
Super good film. I almost cried at the ending. I'm nearly 62 and am section hiking Oregon, then Washington, then California. You are an inspiration.
Courtney your journey was epic, and you told the story so well. Thank you for sharing it with us.
When you went to Stehekin you have to had visited Carls Garden right next to the bakery! I was there a couple days ago and it is a must!
Thank you so much! It’s no small feat for sure, and there are people out there doing even far crazier than us. Thank you for watching and happy trails
Girrrrl, the smile at the end is describing all the happines you had through this journey! amazing shots and congrats! love it, stay safe
Hahah yes, I was feeling all the feelings at that point. Thank you for watching 😊
What a beautiful person and soul you are. Keep on walking, you’ll come into my place. BC. Cheers
Beautifully shot, beautifully written, and a wonderful journey to follow you on. Thanks, Courtney, for keeping this account. Well done indeed.
Thank you for taking the time to watch Matt!
This brought me to tears. The telling of your journey was exceptional, Courtney, and is what's pushing me to get on the PCT.
I hope you get out there! Happy trails x
Courtney, I'd watch this video over and over. Thanks for your work on it, it's inspiring!
I usually don't like watching films created by other hikers, but damn, this one is good! Great storystelling. Thanks!
And you outta know!!!
Whyyyy dont you watch other hikers work because you feel you are tooo good
What an amazing piece of videography. I could'nt imagine how many people this video must've motivated to complete the PCT. Great job.
Courtney, this was by far one of the best PCT documentaries I've ever seen. I've been a fan of the hike from reading and watching videos and this film was incredible. Especially your unique way of describing the mental and emotional aspect that accompanies the physical demand fo the trek. Good on ya!
Idk why but the opening scene where your friend holds up the Canadian flag made me tear up. Congratulations
And just glad it was an Aussie girl doing it well done, You are quite right when you say we are
just passing through, and its life we only come this way once and you have to make the most of it.
Wow.
Shameful
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch :)
@@tbc543 You sound like fun!
Amazing vid! Watched it from beginning to end!
I work a 10 hour day 6 days a week...I needed to see this amazing film with photoequ views... thank you from northeast Texas I'm trying to hike the A.P. in a few years
What a wonderful journey, thank you for sharing! Happy trails to you always!
Great accomplishment,congratulations! Fantastic film.
Amazing. What a beautiful journey... I feel like an adventure like this is a metaphor for life. All the excitement at the beginning, the ups and downs in the middle, and the gratitude at the end that the Universe gave you a chance to experience it. Thank you for sharing this.
What a lovely way of describing it! Thank you for taking the time to watch 😊
Beautiful and heartfelt, loved it!
GREAT VIDEO! VERY WELL DONE. "And then it's done, your footprints washed away in the rain." I LOVE THIS QUOTE. CONGRATS ON FINISHING THE JOURNEY
Amazing and so inspiring! I can’t wait until I can hike the PCT someday !!
Thank you so much! Definitely more to come :)
best video of a thru-hike I've ever seen. Appreciate all the views of the beauty! I'm 71, used to hike a lot, hoping to get back out there after a knee replacement (used to hike a LOT . . .). Every hike I've ever done remains a treasured memory - you never lose that.
That was a fantastic film 🔥 thanks for sharing your journey in such a compelling way.
Thank you so much Alex 😊
this documentary defenitely made me cry a few times, its very beautiful!
This stirred my soul, thank you for all the work you poured into creating this and sharing it with the world💛
This is simply Beautiful. I never had any desires tondo anything like this although I love the outdoors, camping etc. Thank you.
The best PCT film I’ve ever seen! I’ve hiked half of the trail and hosted over 100 MeetUp section hikes. This is inspiring 😎🔨 “Hammer”
Wow thanks so much Hammer!
Wow... I am speechless.. this was incredibly well done. What a tremendous experience, such a gift. Congratulations and thank you for sharing ❤
WOW. What an unbelievable journey! I was laughing and crying with you for the last 53 minutes. 👏
Me too! Except I’m trying to get pregnant again so it will be some time, but I’m itching to try it
Just finished watching this with my six year old daughter and it brought me to tears several times.
Hands down the best docu drama of the PCT I've seen. I can't wait for my journey to begin!! Campo, California April 2023.
Absolutely loved this! What an adventure, and an amazing soundtrack to accompany it!
:') So happy that you are here in my lifetime sharing your story with us
You are such a beautiful writer.
Thank you.
What an adventure! Loved the highs and lows. Thank you for sharing
