You need to rotate a lot more in FM than squads actually do in real life, there are top squads who play their first 11 most games and still manage to be successful.

Always aim for a squad of 33. 3 players for every position.
First 22 (2 players for every position) 1st teamers.
Then 11 u23 players to fill in when player 1 or 2 aren’t available.
Always try and find players who can play more than one role.

Create two teams, play each in every next match. This will help players in each team has better chemistry and also less fatigue. If they want to start more games talk to them and say to sell them. They will tell it is not necessary.

Very interesting. I always tried to have only 18 outfield players + 3 outfield youngsters in my first team squad, so that is two less than what is suggested here. I think this video is correct. I often struggle with team depth, having enough fit first teamers. I think I will take this advice and switch from 18 to 20 senior outfield first team players.

Hi. I don't play fm anymore. But always a subject iv found interesting. When I was younger I always went for the 2 players in every position rule, and over time it would end up 17-19 out field players heavily involved over time, then you have your 13 or 14 under 21 players on the fringes.

For MLS the desired size is 22 to 25 with 2 of each position in the formation you are using. If using 4-4-2 get 4 strikers, 4 CM, 2 LM, 2 RM, 2 RB, 2 LB, 4 CB, and 2 GK. Remaining slots should be saved for emergency goalkeeper and 5 youth players.

Have 2 in every position and have a strong and weak team so whoever I come up against can rotate the squad so seems to be working so far,you will always have that 1 player that no matter what you do they will always complain.

    Question Jake.
Do you keep the same 11,unless you have an injury.. Or do you go for who has the highest star rating etc.
And then change for cups etc?

    • @fmscout
      @fmscout  4 года назад +3

I play what i consider to be my best 11 and I don't really consider star rating, if there is an injury then I rotate them out with a backup player who will play in the main 11 for the time being and as for cups I rotate the full 11 with backups in early rounds! - Jake

i always went for two players in every postion but found it difficult to keep to everybodys agreed playing time.
now i aim for a main core of 13 players.
Captain and vice captain will be important players..
    Star player/Important player/Regular starter
    1 Goalkeeper
    2 Fullback
    3 Centre back
    2 Winger
    3 Central midfielder
    2 Striker
    Squad player/Impact sub/Fringe player
    2 Backup goalkeeper
    2 Fullback
    2 Centre back
    2 Central midfielder
    2 winger
    2 Striker
25 player squad including 3 goalkeepers. That would be my aim in building a first team squad.

Not really related to the video but I have a question about goalkeeper training:
If I were to place only goalkeepers on the reserves squad (assuming they don't get mad) and only schedule special goalkeeping training, will they develop faster? I have a lot of coaches so it wouldn't be so inconvenient to put more players into my senior/under20s squads and I mostly use my reserves for trialists or building up match fitness.
Just developing goalkeepers until they are good enough to loan and make a profit.

Is all good until your DOF bids for a player as back up defender which would make him 8th choice. Of course I reject them unless he uncovers a gem. It gets harder as you go up leagues as you are constantly improving while getting rid of deadwood. After a couple of years in the top league you can control. Just don't get to many wonderkids. Lol.

Yeah, this is the way to win. However, all star squads like this tend to break the immersion for me which in turn kills the fun. Kovacic as an emergency reserve when he’s a world class midfielder in the game? Chilwell as a second choice LB while on 180k etc.
