I went into sales at the start of my professional career. I didn't know what I was doing, so all I had in my toolkit was to be likable and respectful of the customer. Then I started reading books on selling, from closing techniques to mental toughness to counting No's. I got out of the trade because I was far too agreeable to be a scoundrel, but I can see that rookie me had it right all along.

The husband says “I got this”….. puts in an order for all White Vinyl Low-e with a mix of single hungs and picture windows…. Wife comes home and turns out she wants bronze aluminum with grey glass and a mixture of Horizontal rollers and Casements….DISASTER!!!….. There are too many options for one spouse to grab the reigns, or at least those homes will be few and far between. So I ask you…. If I’m going to spend my time, my gas, lug in a bunch of samples giving the homeowners as much time as they need with myself the expert to come up with a design that works for them, what’s so wrong with asking for the business?? Better I come back next week and drive out there AGAIN for more questions or even a sale when I was there a week before? What if 4-5 people end up doing the same thing and now I have to give up on sitting with 4-5 fresh couples ready to talk windows because I have to go back and see people AGAIN….. IF YOU’RE NOT READY TO BUY…..STOP INVITING SALSEPEOPLE TO YOUR HOME TO DISCUSS BIG TICKET ITEMS…

i just went to home depot and bought 10 new single hung double pane windows that they had in stock for about $2000 altogether.... it took me about a week to install them all working during spare time at about 4 hrs on each window... and the hardest part is just getting the orig old wooden ones out that were painted shut.

I was making a window appointment at my home to replace all windows, they did indeed ask “will your husband attend meeting”. I told them how offensive that question was, I was making the decision, I was paying for it, if they wanted the business they only need me.

    1. Your sales person came in and presented without issue that my spouse was not there. He did offer to return if needed. There never any pressure.
    2. I had one of your competitors tell me directly that they do not breakdown their charges or quotes. Hence why he didn't get my business.
    3. You offered a fair price that was transparent. When I did ask for a better price, you guys gave me more than one option to purchase my windows.
    4. My sales guy (Dan Arnold) never had to make a call to you Jeff. He let your product presentation speak for itself.
    5. My price quote was given with the disclaimer that pricing does change month to month.
With all that said, I had a great experience. I will use you again. Dan and your installer Raphael (and crew) were the best. Will call back for more replacements soon.
