A friend of mine lived in the US for many years. One time he fell into a conversation with a guy in a bar and they talked.
After a while the guy says "You know, you speak pretty good English, for a foreigner, where are you from?"
And my friend said "Well..... England!"
And the guy said "Oh..... What language do they speak there?"
An American told me I was wrong when I speak English, apparently I speak the British language

Native speakers say some things differently, but that doesn't make it wrong. Regional differences and all.

@@ihatemotionblur_3255 While Americans refer to the United States 'of America' as "America", belonging to the North American continent, the entire group of Latin American countries, including Brazil, Venezuela, Chile, Peru, etc. (and probably the rest of the world) recognize "America" as an entire continent, and "North America", "Central America" and "South America", as its subcontinents.
I want to see them do one where they ask people where Rhode Island is on a map of the world. The confusion I’ve been met with when I say I’m from Rhode Island is unbelievable. I’ve had everything from people thinking RI is in New York, or Canada, or London, and all the way to people telling me it doesn’t exist 🥴 and yes most of those people were Americans… 🙃

Referring to the USA as “America” is an habit that started around 1900 when Roosevelt gave a speech after the victory of the Spanish-American War. Until then, most people in the US referred to the country simply as the United States or the Union.
In international contexts “the United States” is always used to refer to the country, while “American” is used as “demonym of last resort” because US-Americans wrongfuly think that demonyms such as “United Statesian”, “United Statian”, “United Stater”, or “Usonian” are grammatically incorrect.

Depends on the state you are from. The state governments give a list what public schools have to teach in each grade. For me, American and Canadian Geography was taught in 4th grade. In 6th grade the whole year focused on World Geography for Social Studies. But in all honesty, these videos are why Private Education is becoming more popular.
