Being 52, I totally remember the original 50cc Monkey bike and loved them then. I've already placed my order for the new Monkey in the same Red with no ABS. Excited to add it to the other 6 Honda's in the stable. Cheers Mate! Zip~

I’m 52 as well,just bought a 74 Honda ct70 a couple months ago and now I want the new monkey bike,just have to wait until they’re sold in Canada,hopefully it’s soon. Greetings from British Columbia

Before Honda reintroduced the Monkey bike concept, I never heard of the Grom. But I definitely knew about the Honda Trail 50/70 series of mini bikes back in the 60's and 70's. Had one of each back in the day, and they were rock solid reliable and completely kid proof.
I just wonder why this is $1,000 more than the Grom. I think they justify it because of all the nostalgia this creates with guys who wanted a little Honda mini-bike back in the day. $4,000 is just such a steep price to pay. I can get a LOT of real motorcycles for that price.

Not really. I get about 100 MPG. So it costs less than other bikes right there. And it;s 500-700 more not 1k.
If you need a "real" motorcycle then move along.

i had never seen one of these until yesterday...so i looked on youtube. i was VERY impressed by its look and the whole concept. VERY NICE bike!!!

Beautiful. Looks way cooler than a Grom. In fact very very similar to the Z50J I had as a 12 year old in 1976 when living in Dubai.

Hi from the U.K. I’m 47 and live in a coastal town in the south. Just bought one of these in red. Originally was going for a Grom but when I saw this I just had to have it. Love the looks! Can’t wait to pick it up next weekend. I don’t want or need anything bigger or faster, this will be something I can just cruise around town on with a big grin on my face!

I really like this motorcycle. I own a 1973 Suzuki RV-125 Enduro in Suzuki Green. I haven't had it running in years. Seeing this bike wants me to get it running again. My wife would like me to sell it someday but I want to hold on to it. It was my grandpa's bike in Chicago. I live in Central Florida. Great video. This would be a very fun bike.

Do a video installing a forged crank and rod! The videos are great and you guys do an awesome job. We really need a video on the install of the forged crank and I’m sure you would sell a ton more as well! The community would love it!

Don't get a yoshi exhaust!!! Get a Akropovic. they sound better and actually give you more power. It lets you use the original chrome from honda.
Love the HR sticker placement haha.
The Air box just screams for our HR Stickers.
You confused me about the slip-on. Did you mean to say that removing the cat for the slip-on would lighten the bike and give you more horsepower?
There is a water bottle canteen size sroage under the seat. Great place to keep some extra gasoline for the bike.
Yellow has Extra Storage under the seat.
Red has the ABS in the storage space location.

We dont have these in canada yet. 9 or so more months till we get them.. But the 4000 price and the exchange rate makes this bike 5300 for us up here.. Another 200 if we want abs...Plus tax. Pdi. And what ever else they charge

When i order one, i expect to pay around 6000 to 6500 out the door
But driving around like i was a kid again reliving all those old memories..making new ones with the kids. and this time i can take it where ever i want.. Its gonna be worth every penny of that 6000..
thegreatwhitenorth I don’t think it’ll be that much, the grom is 3500 cad. and it’s over 3000$ US so if this is 4000$ US it’s going to be 4600 cad.
@@Whateva67 i just called honda powersports here in vancouver and another dealer in a city we call langley.. and i asked the sales guys if they know how much the new monkey is gonna be. And they both said honda hasnt released any offical price yet..
But they both said that they figure its gonna be between 5 and 6 thousand..
So we shall see what the price is when honda decides closer to when we get them..
(We dont get them till december)

thegreatwhitenorth I know about the older z50s costing that much but it’s like the classic car biz, a brand new camaro in 69 cost around 4 grand but they run up to 100 grand now because they were restored or kept in mint shape,old z50 restoration cost a few grand to do it right so they cost that when they sell em.I’m wishful thinking here on the price of the new monkeys because I want one too so hopefully they will sell them in Canada soon. I live in Nanaimo btw so I hear ya about everything costing more in this country

You can always get the Suzuki Van Van 200. It has the same style, but it’s a bigger bike.
Where does it get the speed info from? I assumed it uses the abs signal, but some have no abs!
Red has from abs brakes.
Yellow does has disc breaks.
Blue. Not sure...

I keep seeing comments people complaining this bike costs $1k more than a grom? I just purchased a brand new 2019 Monkey for $3300? Idk if the dealers are desperate for sales with corona virus? Maybe they just wanted to get rid of it?

Honda monkey ve the Yamaha tw 200. About the same price.
That airbox and exhaust has to go those 2 things are the first I would get rid of. You can tell by looking at those it is power robbing that engine big time.
You were "bummed" about the adjusters....I was not...the old school adjusters for dirt bikes worked and worked well. Everything about the monkey seems to be a step above the Grom. Probably why they are charging more for the monkey....pleated and piped seats. Chrome everywhere...I love the bike. I bought one of the first ones in the US. It seems a little faster than their grom....I not sure, maybe it's the higher profile tires?
By the way, the amount of horsepower you get from deleting the cat is almost nothing...maybe .2 horsepower. Not worth it!!!!! Mine max out at 65 mph. Comfortable at 50.
Chuck Bowen, Actually the Yoshimura Full System makes a ton more HP and a ton more Torque above 4000 RPM over the Slip-on. We have the Dyno Graphs to support that. It's pretty impressive how much getting rid of that Cat and increasing the Header Diameter improves the performance.
If you max out at 65 then it’s definitely not faster than a grom
But it’s basically the same we’re talking single cylinder bikes they are all almost the same.
Faster is not solely equivalent to top speed.
It can be faster in every single gear, but just top-out sooner.
@@killbill2208 the tire for the monkey has a larger outside diameter.....its faster than the grom. It looks better too. Look at the aspect ratio of the tires Grom vs. the Monkey. If the engines are the same, the monkey WILL be faster. The only way a Grom would be faster is if you throw it out of an aircraft at ten thousand feet. Upon impact....about 200 miles an hour.
Paint and chrome is kinda reminiscent of like a Royal Enfield

Great presentation. But the bikes build by HSM (Hot Shot Monkeys, "Toro Rosso" etc.) or "Tech Team's Garage" are more "cool" 🤓 than all this mass production stuff!
Customer built generally is in a different league to OEM.

Some Honda monkeys have a little bit of storage under the seat. Its just complicated to lift the seat
Correct. We made some knurled end bolts that can be HAND Turned to access the under seat storage without tools.
Why do you think only "guys" like and own these??? There's lots of us women that love our monkeys, too. Don't be a dinosaur!

@@ok-jl7qo Yea I took care of it. Wire harness melted but I think animals might have got in there. I have mice in my garage and chipmunks can get in there too. But the spark plug electrode arm broke off and that is really bad and destroyed the valves. The honda mechanic at the dealer seems to strip anything he touches. Plus it should not be possible for this to happen. CRappy design.
Then you talk about adding another 2-3k, For 8k you can buy a Real bike that goes faster than 60mph
Of course, there's always another bike a step above. That's the beauty of it, everyone can find the bike that's right for them, and that they enjoy. At the end of that the day that's all that matters.

Nah, Once you ride it you will be glad you bought it. I have the original and this is way better for all day rides. Exhaust and Air Box removal are the mod's I'm looking forward to.

Honda really messed up the brake light and turn signals on the US model... fugly looking compared to the European model... same thing with the Super Cub...
I don't think it was by Choice. Normally that's a U.S. DOT law that requires them to change those.
