My wife has a older amazon seller account to sell of some old Boyd’s Bears. She has never “worked” the account and knows almost nothing about selling on Amazon but she clearly knows enough to make a few sales over the years. My business partner and I are committed to learning and launching an FBA business. We began in Nov 19. We plan to get our LLC this month and continue learning (from scratch!). We plan to build a brand for 3 and years then sell it. I learned Amazon only allows one account per IP or household. Should I close my wife’s old barely used account or just upgrade it to a professional account with all the new LC and business information. Bless you in advance for your counsel. Gary
If your wife wants to maintain her account in the status quo you'll need a new one. If she's willing to let it go you're better off using an older account that has history. However because it's not a pro account it'll almost be like a brand new account when you flip it to pro. Some benefit but not too much. New LLCs and new accounts struggle a lot with opening accounts. So I would give more net benefits to upgrading the account vs opening a new. When you switch it to pro it does all the tax questions at that stage. Anyway. Lastly partnerships fail all the time. I would get written contract that you will always own the account with your partner if you split without a company sale. Should be easier to stipulate that since it's your wife's. Does your store name have to exactly match your brand name? I made so many mistakes in setting up my listings by not using the exact brand name and now I am paying the price. I am starting to set up my store and I am spooked by getting it wrong!

You can but that would be a terrible idea. Customers don't want to buy from an "LLC" they want to buy from a brand.

The brand store must match your Trademark or you can't have a brand store. The vanity URL or pretty url can be customized somewhat.
