Thanks for the request Last Cowboy and we’ll reviewed Don! This song is full of truth and anyone who has lost there “true love” through deceit or philandering knows the pain. One can try but I think personally never fill the hole that is left when your heart has been torn out and broken…
Great song and great to hear Mark's voice again, one of the great ones from the '90s. I don't think you've reacted to Brother Jukebox, one of his early hits ... thanks again Don, and thanks Mike Barnett for the research on the song.
WoW! That song had it all... In respect to that love that got away. It gets you thinking back on that same event in your life. for me, over 30 years later and it is true, never recover from that one lost.. But what a song.
Great song. My first country music concert was Mark in 1990. My personal favorite of his is "She Was" because it's a wonderful tribute to the kind of mother and grandmother I had.
A Country tearjerker for sure! I've always liked these kind of songs of story telling. It evokes a lot of nostalgia of some sad yet better times. It's bittersweet for lack of a better word for me. Thanks for keeping it "real" Country, Don. 👍💘
Now that's real country music. This was written by Dean Dillon Hank Cochran and Keith Whitley. It was actually the last song that Keith Whitley wrote before his death. Don you should react to old country by Mark
Don hello there this is a great one from Mark I heard it just letting You Tube run while driving to Newport Virginia to see my daughter at Newport News Behavioral Center, and felt every word for sure this is true country music in my book 😭
Hi Don I like you were reacting to this song for the 1st time. There definitely was a lot of truth in it.I actually did do a little research to find out the writers before listening because who actually penned the words has always been as important to me as who's singing them This was written by Dean Dillon, Hank Cochran, and Keith Whitley and released originally by Mark in 2008, which I thought was after Keith had passed. So I'm slightly confused. Anyway a very good reaction and rating so thanks Don.
@Mike Barnett Good sleuthing work, and I understand being confused by some of what is found online. Much of it is useful, but occasionally the pieces don't fit. But I have to admit, that's part of the fun of dong reactions, that the boxes don't always neatly check out. Sometimes there's a mystery, not only to the song itself but to its history.
Mark is definitely old school country. You won't hear me say this very much. I like Mark's version over Keith's version. This was written by the legendary Hank Cochran

It takes a long damn time, but eventually A person gets used to the pain.

Mark has one of the best country voices ever. "I'll Think of Something" is my favorite, but he has a long list of great songs.
My favorite is too cold at home.
@@Country_boy-sz3bn Almost Goodbye is a great one too!
@larrywright6214 better at goodbyes

I really like the sad songs too, but it is kinda hard to explain because you enjoy it in a different way, bittersweet is a good word for it.

Does Keith have a version of this, maybe from a demo or something?
@@mikebarnett9012 yes I listened to it earlier. Just put in in the search engine
As much as I love M. Chestnutt’s version, Kieth Whitley has a way of bringing emotions to a song

Dean Dillon wrote great songs for George Strait, Pam Tillis (Spilled Perfume) and others. He had a few albums of his own, too.
