- So I'm taking a break from the enclosure. Instead had a full day of wiring so I can finally get security and convenience out of my 350Z. I went with all Directed Electronics product. The brain is a Viper 5806V, the integration module is Directed Electronics' DBALL2 and I also added Directed's SmartStart module (coming up in the next video).
I pretty much have full control of the vehicle. I can arm and disarm the Viper system with the factory security, open everything from the windows (up and down), the trunk and even the fuel lid door. We've upgraded the security with a glass break sensor on top of the shock sensor and monitor the hood, doors and trunk.
And of course we can also remote start the vehicle. Warm it up in colder months and cool it down in those hot summer months.
Watch the whole video so you can see everything working. In the next security video I'll show you guys the SmartStart module.

Hi buddy, I just want to show appreciation to all your videos man, I own a 2005 g35 that I’ve owned for only about a year now. I’m only 18 years old but I’m all about quality work & upgrades & your channel has helped me 100% of the way. Keep making videos, go fast & have fun buddy!!
Thanks so much for watching! We really enjoy making videos to help people get ideas for their own vehicles. So happy to hear this message, it really gives motivation to keep making content!
Yes pls post the video on how to install the smart module when you have time great work .
+David Rodriguez the 3rd It's pretty simple but I'll go over it in the next video.
AnthonyJ350 thank you for the help
+David Rodriguez the 3rd Just posted the SmartStart video. ruclips.net/video/Xg_tV7w6XgA/видео.html
AnthonyJ350 yes sr that's all I needed to know going to add it to the remote start I did on my 2005 avalanche thank you so much bro
Nice video, thank for posting.
The 5806V doesn't have the (-) pulse horn honk option. Just curious how you wired the horn honk feature in the video?
MisterP Negative pulse horn lol
Any chance you could help?
MisterP Check the installation manual. Horn (-) should be listed in the schematic. I highly suggest bringing the vehicle to a Viper authorized dealer to add the option.
MisterP It does, I have the horn wired to negative trigger of the horn on the "horn honk output". Do you have your installation manual?
keep the awesome videos coming
+The Beige Wonder Glad you're liking the recent series of videos so far.
Love your vids! I added one to my neon srt4.
Nice! How are you liking it?
Love it! I have the Excalibur AL 1950 and have 2 minute turbo timer.
Nice, I haven't worked with Excalibur but I've heard good things.
Curious why are remote starts not recommended for convertibles?
Sorry just saw this comment. They're not recommended because there is a higher chance someone can reach in putting the vehicle into gear then someone remote starting it.
do you know an alternative for people living in Europe ? Do you sell the wiring harness for the 350z ?
Are there any car audio shops in your area?
Why not remote start with the convertible? I have the 5706V already (not installed). It was for a 1995 Honda Accord, but my son flipped that and picked up a 2005 350Z Touring Roadster in Yellow.
It's a liability thing because potentially someone can mire easily reach in and put the vehicle in gear. No credible shop will do the job unfortunately. I kind of explain it in this video ruclips.net/video/PUeKfOyndoI/видео.html
@@AnthonyJ350 asshats. I totally get it now. WTF i wrong with people?
@@alk3myst Well in today's society, you have to tell kids not to eat Tide Pods, owner's manuals tell you not to drink battery acid, we need hot coffee labels on hot coffee and I think one girl put Gorilla glue in her hair because the label didn't say she shouldn't....
So yaaaaaaa......
@@AnthonyJ350 lol. Sad truth though.
Anthony I love your videos! I am planing to do the clutch pedal upgrade and the short shift. Thanks you so much for the clear instructions. I wanted to ask you if you can recommend a good alarm installer in Los Angeles California area?
Please advice,
George
george sanchez Glad you like them! I think Soundman and Rafa are in California if I'm not mistaken.
Thank you Anthony!
george sanchez No problem! We also do live streams on Sundays if you ever want to hang out with other viewers and have a conversation.
Excellent idea. Count me in!
Very interesting, never done before but I'm still going to try to tackle myself. I've done many many wiring jobs like this and I think I have what it takes lol. how did you wire the auxiliary to the windows and gas cap? Sick idea btw!!
I guess you can, have you installed a security system before? There's room under a 350Z dash but not a ton of room. To wire to the windows I had to run wiring cleanly through the factory molex plug into the door to activate the factory window module, for the gas cap I'm wired to the switch.
So I’m currently in the process of installing it. I’m using a db3 module but I’m a little confused. It’s my first time needing to use a module and also my first time doing it on a manual car. I’ve been following the12volt diagrams but I have reached a spot where I’m not sure what to do. Do I have to hardwire the db3 to the remote starter or do I just use the d2d port and that’ll be fine?
D2D port is how I would let them interface.
I need this alarm you gotta show me how you do it
I suggest bringing it to a professional shop who is an authorized Viper dealer.
is the dball needed if I dont have a remote key? I do want the remote start. Thanks
Yes you need it to integrate with the factory immobiliser so the motor will run without the key during the remote start sequence.
can anyone let me know how to bypass the clutch only for remote starting. but still need to depress it when using key...do you tap the remote starters start" wire to the positive clutch wire and the cars start wire or just the clutch wire ??? thanks in advance
around how much would i cost to get this installed?
700
700-1,000 depending on the vehicle and features.
Do you gotta do this every time to start it or I just a one time thing for the remote
The procedure is just for remote starting. You can start the vehicle like normal otherwise.
@@AnthonyJ350 so once you do it the first time you dont have to repeat and do it again anymore you can start your car all the time with the remote
@@luissaavedra5689 You have to do the procedure every time you park the vehicle so the system knows it's in neutral.
Why didn't you link aux 1 to arm so the windows will roll up?
Because I didn't want the window motors to try to close every time I lock the vehicle.
Hey! Quick question. I noticed that you had a silver emblem thing next to your shifter. I thought that only nismo models had that, unless yours is a nismo? Thinking of picking up a Z, however not sure how to physically tell the difference between the nismo and base model besides the nismo # emblem, body kit, seats, sticking.
No it was just a piece the previous owner cut out. I made a new black ABS panel for that now. My car is an enthusiast. NISMO's are unique cause I think they have different bumpers and they stitch weld the car.
Alright, thanks for the quick reply! Orginally, the plate or hole was not there correct?
Hengiepoops Exactly.
I have a problem with my viper 5706v i was moving the alarm box out of the way and the problem i have is that when the alarm is triggered and notification pop up on the control when unlocked but when u start it it clears the notifications and it does not do that and the blue light from the antena keep flashing when car is running and not in valet mode when i have my car on with the key and hit the remote star it grind the starter is there a wire that tell the alarm the car is on its a 1998 volvo s70 t5 thx?
Juan Hernandez Check all the plugs in the Viper brain or bring to an authorized Installer. Possibly one of the plugs is partially unplugged.
Can you park the car in first gear and still remote start it? @AnthonyJ350
No, the system will not all that. When putting it into "ready mode" if you put it into first, it will just stall.
This video demonstrates "ready mode" ruclips.net/video/PUeKfOyndoI/видео.html
nice video
Thanks!
yo i got a 2003 automatic z how much u think it would be, and if it works
Depends on what features you want. $700 - $1,200 product and labour if we're doing it.
@@AnthonyJ350 you guys do it? Im in florida miami
description says you've also got it working with the factory security system, does that also mean the factory remote still works for basic lock and unlock? i've read about some viper alarms (mostly smart start) allowing factory keyfob to work, but if remote started, unlocking with factory keyfob was killing the remote start and shutting the car down.
Some cars you'll get factory remote control. I didn't even bother trying on my car though, didn't see the point because you can't really do anything but arm and disarm.
+AnthonyJ350 oh yeah definitely understandable, I have a 2013 mustang gt and the key is built into the fob which is what most cars are like these days and all I REALLY want is remote start :/. I have it on my 03 truck which key is separate from fob because it's old lol
you can get another key made with an older fob. as long as it has the same trasnsponder within it. @@TJJasso
I had this system installed on my 2004 Yukon Denali, for some reason my remote start will not work. The remote lights up and the light on my truck start up...but it does not crank. Do you have an idea of what it could be? Thanks
Chris Ancrum Check to see if diesel timer was activated. Or if the integration module is not activating bypassing the factory immobilizer.
AnthonyJ350 how do I check that for that?
Chris Ancrum Your installer will have to check. Need a bit writer to heck settings.
AnthonyJ350 ok thanks a lot for your help and info bro! Keep up the good work.
hey my car wont start, everytime i put in the key, the key will NOT de activate the alarm.. it will crank but not start. i CHANGED and got a brand new key and still have the problem. if i get this VIPER security system, will it fix my problem?? I believe my car has the OEM factory alarm btw..thanks
The alarm won't correct the issue. It sounds like the factory immobilizer isn't reading the chipped key. I would make sure all the fuses are good. I've had a couple people message me with similar issues.
The alarm won't correct the issue. It sounds like the factory immobilizer isn't reading the chipped key. I would make sure all the fuses are good. I've had a couple people message me with similar issues.
Do i need to re program the key if i replace the immobilizer?
Depends on what part of the anti theft system isn't working properly.
Let's say it was just the immobilizer, (the black thing that connects to the ignition cylinder), do i need to re program the key?
So I’m driving a 02 integra and it do not have any immobilizer but it require me to push the clutch in to start the car. So do I need a dball2 or the newer db3 to bypass the clutch pushing when remote start. I try to find this everywhere but all they said is it bypass the immobilizer not clutch. Thanks
If your vehicle does not have an immobilizer you'll just have to bypass the clutch engagement switch with a relay during the remote start sequence. You'll still need to push the clutch when you start with the key but when you remote start the car will think it's being pushed in. There is a safety sequence you have to do so the car knows it's in neutral.
Could you recommend a specific relay that I need to buy or the dball2 or db3 will do the job. Sorry I have no knowledge in electrical.
Korntawat Poupart You'll need a 5 pin 30 amp relay. I would highly recommend you have a pro install it for you. It's worth it to make the job clean and reliable.
AnthonyJ350 Thank you very much. I live in Thailand and these stuff doesn't have any authorized dealer or shop for it so I'll have to figure it out on my own but thanks for the advice. Helped me a lot.
But if i buy a dball2 or db3, would it do the job of bypassing the clutch on my non immobilized honda integra?
What do I need in order to allow it to do the window roll through the remote?
A remote starter and/ or security with auxiliary outputs that can be programmed and feed wires into the door.
So if I were to get this remote starter in specific, what else would I need?
Hey there, do you still have the pictures from this remote start install that you could share?
No sorry I don't have any pictures. It's just black harnessing, can't really tell there's something in there.
AnthonyJ350 alright, thanks anyways. Your videos are really helpful, and I appreciate what you do here. So thank you.
@@jaredmckinon282 Thanks so much for watching our videos!
When I remote start the led keeps flashing green until I put the key in. Is there any way to disable the flashing green light
Jose G On the remote?
AnthonyJ350 yes I have the 5807v the green led on the left of the remote start button flashes green
Jose G Ya that's how it gives the confirmation letting you know it's running.
AnthonyJ350 oh okay so that’s normal, good. Is there a way to disable it though? It’s just annoying when my keys flashing over and over lol
How would I control my air suspension using the viper?,. Would I have to buy some kind of repay to wire it into? I have them hook up to my stereo so when the car turns in it turns in, could I use that with viper to turn control the bags?
uhZeny Yup is has 4 negative aux outputs you can time, latch whatever you want.
Thanks for the response, but how would I wire the viper to know when the car is bagged out or to air up? I have airlift v2 so I dont know how I would wire it in. Its very confusing to me how to control it but if you say its possible I believe you!
uhZeny There are several auxiliaries that put out a 200miiliamp ground that can be wired to a relay. You can program them to be timed for your application.
AnthonyJ350 ok that makes a but more sense I'm just confused how to get it to work with my management system since it's adjusted digitally, but thanks for the input! Definitely helped knowing I could doit and I've seen videos on it so I know it's possible!
Where can I get the wire kit
Your local authorized Viper retailer will have it.
I want my 350z like this. give me the links to where you purchased the stuff that's installed in your 350z that's mentioned in this video. and how much time did it take you to install this or who did you go to to install it?
+trenton mackey I'm an installer so I did the whole job. I spent 8 hours doing this particular one because I wanted everything done a particular way. The link for the product is in the description.
+AnthonyJ350 can this be done on an automatic transmission 350z? and ok lol how much would it approximately be to pay someone to install this?
trenton mackey Yes for sure this can be done on an automatic. I highly recommend you have a professional with experience do the install. There is no way I could teach you how to do this install in a couple hours and do it to my specifications. Wiring like this is not easy.
If you like your car, take it to a good shop and pay the labour, it's worth it.
This particular setup will be just over a grand with all the features and product you see here.
+AnthonyJ350 yeah my 350z I LOVE it. yeah I want my setup to be done exactly like this and whoever i pay to install this im going to show them this video. yeah I don't wanna risk messing up my 350z lol I'm going to leave it to the professionals.
trenton mackey Good to hear you want it done by a pro. Tell them the guy in the video told me to get it done by a professional then show them the video.
Anyone know what button activates the panic mode ?
Press and hold lock
@@AnthonyJ350 Thanks for your help. Just got it installed today. Forgot to ask the Technician.
@@1_Bad_Z No worries, how do you like it?
@@AnthonyJ350 I like it. I wasn't able to get Compustar which is in my other car and my first choice in alarms due to current shortage with Compustar. However; the 2 way page 1/4 mile works just as as good. Car honks and added siren was set to single tone as I can't stand the 5 tone siren. I will say; its loud... car horn pierces. I added a radar sensor similar to perimeter sensor along with additional add ons. Technician who is an authorized dealer did a good job and over all price was worth it. Good warranty on alarm and labor.
@@1_Bad_Z Glad it worked out well for you 🙂
Hey does this work with automatic zs
Yes it will.
