Wow, I freaking love this. The way it's shot, the way it's told, the way it all connects together... it keeps you watching and wanting more, I was actually surprised when it finished. Your passion shows and it's contagious, it made me emotional. I'm no optimist, but this really feels like a candle being lit in a very dark and long corridor. Congrats on such an amazing job, can't wait to see more.
Amazing story so far! Well said, well put, and well made! Agreed! I'm connecting this with Daniel Quinn and Derrick Jensen and Indigenous ways like discussed here. The root of the world's problems is basically western civilization. And the story we tell is the heart of the root of our issues. Let's decolonize, learn from Indigenous communities and ways, and tell a new story!
THIS is my mission. As a writer, my ultimate goal is for the books I'm currently writing to help shape the future. Hopefully one day my stories will be part of our NEW stories
I despise the hidden algorithm that chooses what I am exposed to on RUclips. Except for today... Your passion is intoxicating, and contagious; a refreshing drink in this performative space. I'm in for the long haul, and am eagerly anticipating our journey together. 😊
This was SO BEAUTIFUL! You're such a fantastic story teller Claudia, I'm sooo inspired. And this is a story that desperately needs to be heard. So I'm commenting for the algorithm because HOW tf does this have
Thank you for the great video! As a student of Conservation biology and geography, I have looked at how western European conservation models have excluded indigenous peoples physically and culturally, and how the path forward must include and integrate relational associations with the Earth rather than systems thinking based on dominance. Your passion and optimism is contagious! Thank you
I am watching this at 10 pm, incredibly tired from learning about climate change. I'll watch this again tomorrow, because I can't grasp everything you and the interviewees are telling me. Yet I can't help feeling incredibly inspired
Great first video of the series, enjoyed it thoroughly! Love your passion, optimism and dedication! (moreover, it's contagious!) Thanks for your contribution to changing our collective story and re-wiring our brains! 😉Keep it up, looking forward to the next episode! P.S. Liked, shared and subscribed 😊🌎💙
woo, woo, and woo, rewrite our history... embrace the Indigenous philosophy that is so logical, noble and beautiful, what a wonder to be able to transform our history as humanity into a love story for everything that inhabits this very beautiful planet... I want to read the book... yes... Thank you young woman, you are an inspiration
One of your new inspired followers, watching this video after the blowup of the 2nd one. Love your editing, and the interviews and other perspectives you include in your video. I'm from South East Asia curious about a lot of things globally. Can't wait for more of your future content!
The Anishaanabe creation story was so beautiful and the way Cathy tells it made me genuinely cry. These days I feel like it's really easy to think that doing harm is the default nature of humanity and I often forget where we come from, what it means to be human beyond the destruction that we've made. Brilliant video! Thank you for making this!
I have this book on the indigenous worldview by my bedside and the poster by my mirror. Your interview is thought-provoking, mindful and heartful. It is a wonderful springboard to discussion in leadership classes. You touch the heart as well as the head. You make the mark. Mahalo
I love this so much! Thank you so much for educating us and telling us the stories that will lead to change in the world! You are a major source of inspiration in a world that can often times feel so dark! Let's change this world and our worldview for the better everyone!💕
I really loooooooooooved this video! I truly love the change you gave to your channel/communication and the message you are spreading and starting to share. Thank you so much ❤🎉
The only small thing id say is that i think it is definitely better sometimes to weigh your heart more heavily than your head, but other times you should definitely listen to your brain
thank you so much for posting this! there so much to think about here and im super excited to! its the way ive been feeling for so long but with a whole other level to it! Also ive just binged all your episodes and i love them so much! i cant wait for your next video!!!
Been a fan since 2014, you can clearly see how much time, thought and effort went into the pacing editing a storytelling for this vid, it Paid off! can't wait to see more vids like this
You know, when Damon first made the point about the graphs, I was a little bit apprehensive, but he's spot on. We're almost desenstised to graphs in a way because of how often we see them. Stories on the other hand provoke an emotional response, rather than a logical one. We humans are irrational creatures, and it's true that we don't always do things because we see them but because we feel that they're right. The way you put all this together illustrates that point brilliantly. We need to create stories to appeal to all people and to provoke a response in them. Easier said than done, but sure there's 8 billion of us who can pitch in with a vast wealth of knowledge and wisdom, how hard could it be?
I have recently read the books Human vs Nature by Headrick (recommendation if you do not know it) and Braiding Sweetgrass by Kimmerer (which also pops up in the videos here) so discovering your channel was a treat. There is also an Austrian Environmental-Historian called Verena Winiwarter who wrote some books about pretty much this content here. Unfortunately I believe they are only available in German, but I had the chance to speak to her once and can only imagine how informative and easy-going a conversation between her and Claudia would be. Claudia I am really impressed by the quality of your videos and even more so by your passionate and positive style, it feels like I could listen to and watch you for days. Please keep up with your work, the three videos so far have been fantastic and I wish you all the luck and viewers in the world, because I really believe that your content and ideas could change some people’s lives for the better.
Thank you for these videos! Such great work! Sharing it widely!! I feel you so much! Let’s rethink and reshape for our future generations and our beautiful planet! 💚 Ciao!
i dont remember the last time ive left a comment on a video, but i absolutely couldnt resist. im going to school to be an anthropologist, and i never seem to find other people with the same kind of enthusiasm i experience. learning about this subject fills me with so much excitement, and im so happy to have found a creator feels the same. youre absolutely incredible, and im so excited to continue watching this series. i couldnt stop smiling watching this video because this is exactly what i love learning about!!!!! part of me sometimes feels like i know a secret that the rest of society doesnt know bc it seems like no one is interested in learning about who we truly are as humans, so they dont get the opportunity learn about the ways in which we operate BECAUSE of our evolutionary history. maybe im side tracking a bit but im just so passionate about these kinds of things😁 wonderful video
I'm really interested in this subject, and I'm more than willing to learn more and try to include these stories in my way of thinking. I grew up in an area surrounded by indigenous communities, so I have a basic knowledge and a great interest in the stories and patterns of life of that culture. I'd love to learn and understand so much more. Great video, and very interesting. The Norval Morisseau Estate newsletter included the link to you, and I'm grateful for it. Many thanks to you, and I'm looking forward to the next lesson 😊
Brilliant episode, I stumble upon your channel accidently a week or two ago with the video about the borders. Sometimes RUclips algorithm gods does lead us to pleasant and bright path. I loved your presenting style, charming personality and storytelling. Had nostalgia of feeling like watching good old Discovery or BBC earth series. I miss those simple days, now-a-days we are buried in non sensical barrage of videos so you really made my day. About this video, the neuroplasty thingy I had to believe it works since I am desperately trying to change lots of self sabotaging behaviours. Its been rough time for last couple up years, just started to see ray of sunshine and I must on right path since (once again on risk of repeating my self) stumbling upon your channel is a proof of it. P.S. subscribed to your substack as well. Thanks for making world a better place, cheers.
Claudia if you haven’t read it already I would highly recommend reading “Ishmael” by Daniel Quinn. It is a fictional story that weaves in a lot of what you have in this video. I have used it in my Environmental Sociology courses and it is an amazing story I think you will really get a lot out of. I love your passion and your energy! Keep up the great work!
I loved it when you got confused about being angry or being passionate. I'm usually labelled as a very angry person and most times people will tag that as bad, but what I was able to understand with my therapist some time ago was that passion (for certain topics in this case) often translates into anger and that mechanism shouldn't be shut down, but understood. Which is funny when you think about what Dr. Tara Swart said about one of the two things involved in embeding new logical pathways into our brain being "emotional intensity". It all comes full circle. Great opener, great channel; I'm in for the ride. Got get 'em gurl [EDIT] And may I add, yes we do get angry, yes we are passionate, pretty much proportionately!
So interesting! I recently spoke with Neanderthal researcher who made the case that Neanderthals are important because they force us to see that there were other ways of being human ... its so easy to think of the way we (or a subset of we) do things as the default that we never question it or even realize it can be changed.
This is such a well-made, insightful video ! I'm not often one to leave comments but I felt very compelled to - so glad I had episode 2 in my recommendations and can't wait to see the next episode 💖
So inspiring and refreshing - I’m manifesting change and I have hopes for this. For the future. I’m so delighted I came across your channel. It’s wonderful ❤
Love this! Been following you for ages now and I’m so happy to see you’re invested in science now ❤ I’m a biologist myself and trying to drive my career through nature conservation now, so this channel and all the interviews are so useful and exciting! Best of luck xxx
I have experienced a glimpse of what four arrows said about not seeing but feeling the world and i think it is what all of us are missing deep in our souls. No dopamine is better than that glimpse of natures light. Thank you for this first episode, i hope it reaches far and wide (:
What a great initiative!!!! Thanks a lot Claudia... We need more people like you to encourage more young and not that young people to RE-start our HISTORY!
Homework for humanity, not just non-indigenous folks - healing the traumas in their lineages. Because even indigenous folks walk around with separation in their hearts while touting their indigenous ways. We must look at and experience each other as kin because our ancient ancestors did and still do see each other as kin. As someone of mixed ancestry, I was raised with ancestral dream knowledge. I see the unity, and I understand the separation created by trauma. My dissertation project is a documentary about the calls and requests of three ancient ancestral Mothers. I spent a month in Hawaii following their guidance and was saddened to see and listen to how deep the wounding is from the traumas that are evident and ever present in the people of the Pacific Islands. Now, amplify that to the global collective. According to the ancestral dreams I've documented over the past 23 years, HUMANITY has to evolve, or it will no longer be welcomed on the planet. The earth is just fine without humans; humans, on the other hand, are not able to survive without a healthy planet (healthy for ALL sentient beings).
We are mortal animals, it's obvious but we try to hide it. When we forget that we tend to believe that we are in a pyramid where we are above other living beings... then shit happens. I love that idea of "rewiring our brains", neighbors instead of threats. Changing that is not so easy... but not impossible. 😉 Cheers! and thanks for creating this channel, so refreshing!🎉
It's nice to see you again and with this really important mission.
Loved it. Thank you for sharing it. I specially enjoyed the different worldviews and it explains a lot about society and the way things are going. Thank you, thank you !
Hi Claudia! Your video really inspired me. It’s clear that we should change our global narrative to achieve the change we need! Keep up with the good content :)))
First video has a giveaway? Well you’re obviously doing something right because I got recommended your second video and am enjoying the content. I look forward to more.
I'm fascinated and enlivened by your perspective on humanity. Just subscribed because I'm Interested to see what else you have to say and to see where this all this leads.
Woooow!
OH wow, I really enjoyed this espisode and I'm already waiting for the next one, it's really interesting and I loved it! An amazing job! Thank you for it!
Wow, its a great work you are doing, you gave me hope, thank you for this. You have all of my support for the path you are following. And as an artist, I will try to give hints of the new story that we need to build.
Great video, and I agree and will add the book to my want to read list :) I've been telling anyone who wants to listen (and those who don't) for years that we can accomplish more working together than we ever could competing. Simple example: if one group of people can strategise and work together, and the other group is not just competing against one another but also against the other group, it's a no-brainer that the teamwork group would get more done. But that's alas not how we're currently organising the world.
Yeah, I got to that point in the video and realised: Ah, it’s an anti-Bible narrative. Bible=european-colonialism=industrialism=pollution=bad. Instead we must embrace the far superior and beautiful “natural” cultural beliefs of the pre-Christians, which in most cases includes such wonderful practices as human sacrifice and cannibalism. Hey, if we’re just another type of animal, might as well behave like them. As we know, animals are always kind to one another and seek to cooperate for the greatest benefit to every species.
Me encanto!, Bravo!

Got get 'em gurl
[EDIT] And may I add, yes we do get angry, yes we are passionate, pretty much proportionately!
So interesting! I recently spoke with Neanderthal researcher who made the case that Neanderthals are important because they force us to see that there were other ways of being human ... its so easy to think of the way we (or a subset of we) do things as the default that we never question it or even realize it can be changed.
Wow, yes!!! This whole topic is fascinating!! What other ways are out there that are better but we don't know?
Ayyy so happy to have you here Irene! Thank youu! That’s exciting, can’t wait for you to watch, you’re gonna LOVE what’s coming then!!

I wanna share it so passionately 👏
So glad you liked it Alvaro!! Thank youuu
I have experienced a glimpse of what four arrows said about not seeing but feeling the world and i think it is what all of us are missing deep in our souls. No dopamine is better than that glimpse of natures light. Thank you for this first episode, i hope it reaches far and wide (:
This is so interesting. Thank you for sharing. And thank you! So glad you liked it
New favorite show!!
What a great initiative!!!! Thanks a lot Claudia... We need more people like you to encourage more young and not that young people to RE-start our HISTORY!
Love this!! Thank you!!!
Great show, great idea, beautifully done!!! Want more, please
what a wonderful story
Thank you for these great Origin Story episodes!
oh wow gracias por este bello comentario!
Seeing Damon, i was like : Hey that's the guy from Sugarland !!
We are mortal animals, it's obvious but we try to hide it. When we forget that we tend to believe that we are in a pyramid where we are above other living beings... then shit happens.
I love that idea of "rewiring our brains", neighbors instead of threats. Changing that is not so easy... but not impossible. 😉
Cheers! and thanks for creating this channel, so refreshing!🎉
It's nice to see you again and with this really important mission.

Woooow!

Hey! These are fun interesting and I think really well done. It’s cool to see you put so much into your creativity. Cascadia forever!!
Great video, and I agree and will add the book to my want to read list :)
I've been telling anyone who wants to listen (and those who don't) for years that we can accomplish more working together than we ever could competing. Simple example: if one group of people can strategise and work together, and the other group is not just competing against one another but also against the other group, it's a no-brainer that the teamwork group would get more done. But that's alas not how we're currently organising the world.
The biblical creation story says that all humans were created to steward the garden, not just some. So I’m not sure what you mean by “certain humans”.
A Short History of Progress by Ronald Wright first introduced me to the ideas in this video. Highly recommended

Me encanto!, Bravo!
