Those vinca are looking great. I still need to get some for a new container I have. That little mosaic table is so cute, I love doing trash to treasure. My pink jasmine died over the winter. I bought my first Crape Myrtle this past week. It is a lavender one. That arbor with a fountain in that corner will be wonderful and the sound of water will be so relaxing for you. The heat wave is pretty intense up here in the mountains too, I am keeping a close eye on the plants to make sure they don't get too stressed.
Good morning Pam and thank you for taking the time to stop by. Yes the heat wave is very intense. Had I know it got so hot out here in the valley I probably never would have gotten chickens. They suffer the most and I feel so bad for them. I do my best to keep them cool. 😅 I wonder if your lavender crêpe myrtle is a Muskogee??? I think those are the most beautiful crêpe myrtles of all. I wonder if your pink jasmine did not like the frost? It’s so crazy how we are only about an hour away from each other yet it makes such a big difference. The older I get the more I want to escape the heat! Hahaha moving up farther past the foothills is definitely a plan of mine for the future. Sonora, angels camp, Columbia, etc. but then of course I’m told that people are having a hard time getting fire insurance up there. Hi Ginger Thanks so much! 😊 I appreciate your kind words. This heat wave is the highest temperatures I’ve ever experienced. All of my vinca is starting to go to seed so I will definitely be pruning them all back. I have to water every single day. I don’t mind and I’m not complaining, it’s just really hot this year and very different from what I’ve ever experienced. Yes I hope you do get a lamb. The butterflies will appreciate it as well. Ο πατέρας σου έχει απόλυτο δίκιο όταν λέει οτι τα σκουπίδια του ενός είναι θησαυρός για τον άλλον! Προτείνω την σκουριασμένη καρέκλα να την βάψεις κίτρινη. Είναι από τα πιο αγαπημένα μου χρώματα! Δεν είχα σκεφτεί ποτέ οτι στα παλιά λάστιχα αυτοκινήτων δεν φυτεύουμε φυτά που τρώμε. Σ'ευχαριστώ γι αυτό, με βοήθησες πολύ, γιατί πρόσφατα αγοράσαμε ενα μικρό κτήμα και εχω αρχίσει να σχεδιάζω τον κήπο και τον λαχανόκηπο μου!☺️☺️☺️ Πολλά, πολλά φιλιά και προσοχή στη ζέστη!!!🥵🥵🥵❤❤❤

Yes, I’m hoping this heat wave passes soon. We actually reached 113°. Never in my life has it ever been this hot where I live. I’m so ready to move up into the mountains.!!! Haha 😅

About the dahlias, this is my first year growing dahlias, and I've done A LOT of research. Every single person says "dahlias need full sun" and "dahlias originated form Mexico". Yet out of the 10 different dahlias that I currently have (I may have gone overboard), the ones that are doing the best are the ones that are in part shade. Either sun in the morning and shade in the evening, or shade in the morning and sun in the evening. All of mine are in containers, which is convenient because I can move them around and see which light combination they'll prefer, but containers also mean that the roots will be exposed to more heat from the sun. So whether you've planted your dahlias in containers or in the ground will also make a difference. Dahlias in the ground do better with full sun than container-growing dahlias.
Good morning and thank you so much for taking the time to share this comment. Yes I too have read that dahlias prefer full sun. But just like you that is not the case in my garden. All of my dahlias are in the ground and every single one that I planted in full sun is dying or not even growing past 1 foot tall. The dahlias I have in my shade have grown very tall and multiplied. Crazy right? And no, I don’t think you went overboard at all. Now that I have my growing location down, I will be going overboard next year too !!! I'm in zone 4B in WI. I too have a claw foot bathtub, it is painted like a cow, and, has a cute wooden cow head attached. This is my 4th yr. and I've put a a spike in the middle and tall red flowers 3 on ea. side(I can't remember the name) and then I plant about 30 different kinds & colors of petunias It always turns out gorgeous and is my Showpiece. I have 8 separate gardens, ea. in a different theme. It has rained so much here I'm afraid my poor plants are getting too much water, as they really look stressed. I have a lot in pots also. Love your doors & benches & garden.

I can’t believe how long the neighbors lit off fireworks as well. I kept waking up to these giant bombs going off. Oh well, glad you got a good night sleep! 😆

I have 3 crepe myrtle, 1tree and 2 bushes, the small bush is blooming its salmon colored, the large bush is fushia, barely getting buds and the tree is doing nothing, hopes it blooms this year. Zone 9b Far northern CA.
Hi there, Barbara and thank you for taking the time to comment. What I have noticed about crêpe myrtle is the different colors bloom at different times. My white crêpe myrtle tree bloomed first, the red was second and now my purple one is blooming. So there is still hope for yours. Hey there! Could you please tell me what fertilizer you used on your vincas? I'm having the same problem with my vincas. It's 110 degrees where I'm at. I'm going to try your tips with my vincas.
Hey there, my friend and I am so sorry you’re experiencing the same problem as I am. I always use an organic fertilizer (because it does not burn any plants) called Espoma Rose Tone. Any of the Espoma fertilizers work GREAT! I also water my garden every morning before I know it’s going to be hot. Sometimes again in the evening. Let’s pray we make it through this heat wave!!! It was 113 for me today!!! Ahhhhhh 😂😂😂Liz
@@GardenHappy Thank you Liz! I bought some of that fertilizer for my roses after you said how well it worked on your roses. How should I apply it to the vincas? Mine are in pots too. I'm wondering how much to put in each pot, you just put a little bit in and scratch it into the soil right? I think before you just put a handful around the base of each rose but not sure how much to put for the vincas. I'm glad it won't burn my plants!! Thanks again friend!!
That’s so awesome that you bought that fertilizer. I think you will be very happy with it. That’s the same fertilizer that Laura from the RUclips channel Garden answer uses. That’s how I got turned onto it. I believe on the back of the package there is instructions on how much to use. However, I never read those instructions. LOL I would probably put a tablespoon of fertilizer in each potted vinca. You can scratch it in if you like then water. Repeat that every couple of weeks. That fertilizer is so good for your soil too, and it feeds all the microorganisms. The synthetic fertilizer, like miracle grow actually harms the microorganisms in the soil. But this rose tone fertilizer ( all the to e products) actually feeds the soil. So all around it’s just so much better to use. I hope you will enjoy it too. 🙏👍🥰❤️Liz
