    I am Japanese.
UBI appears to be displaying the suord of manga ONE PIECE character Roronoa Zoro as Yasuke's sword at the Japan Expo.
It was also discovered that one of the people who frequently rewrote on foreign Wikipedia that Yasuke was a samurai, "Tottori Tom", may be the author himself, Thomas Lockley.

Newsflash, in Gunshi Kanbei (Japanese historical drama) , Yasuke only appeared in one episode and in two scenes, his presentation to Nobunaga and him serving as a kosho (page) to Nobunaga during the presentation of Azuchi Castle. He was never seen after that, even in the same episode when Nobunaga was meeting with his generals.
Ghost of Tsushima was also criticized for anachronisms with regards to the katana and Sengoku period armor but unlike Ubisoft who called their critics names, Sucker Punch responded with civility and explained their choices. Hence, the latter is liked by the Japanese and AC Shadows is heavily criticized.

      I think so.
I think it was only about 20 years ago that it was generally recognized in Japan. In the Kansai region like Osaka, Toyotomi Hideyoshi is still respected and dramas and movies are made about him.
In that vein, Nobunaga, who originally discovered Hideyoshi, was mentioned many times, but on variety shows, as Nobunaga's maverick episode,
I remember that "Yasuke" was emphasized for a moment in a variety show.
Nobunaga was also popular and the subject of many creative works in movies and dramas in the 1980s, but I have never seen Yasuke. Mostly, I have only seen episodes in which Ranmaru Mori was by Nobunaga's side until the end.
They were fiction, too, and some of them were silly with science fiction elements, but there were no crazy people who wanted to make them factual and authentic history.
There is a Shiba historical view that wants to make old novels into official history.
The content glorifies Sakamoto Ryoma, glorifies Western influences, and denies the pre-Edo period.
However, this is a view of history that is ridiculed by serious history buffs.

He rewrote multiple times thought years. He seems gaining his popularity because of this fabrication. Then he published a book “ Yasuke : True Story” in 2019.

We Japanese want to protect Japanese history, culture, and the dignity of Yasuke from revisionists. If he was enjoyed as fiction or fantasy, Japanese people would not have said anything. Ubi's Copy-paste art that ignores copyrights would be problematic, but...If there was a Japanese person who said that it was historical fact, his family would take him to a mental hospital. He came to Japan as a slave and carried Nobunaga's luggage, but he is a historical figure recorded in Japanese history. However, historical revisionists persistently spread false information as historical fact and try to make him a fraud. Yasuke and Japanese history and culture are not the playthings of historical revisionists! The ones who do this are racists against Asians, including Japanese people, and black people, including Yasuke. Nobunaga is still popular in Japan, so there is a memorial monument and he is cherished like other Japanese warlords. In the same way, many Japanese want to cherish Yasuke and his history. and, Ubi has not apologized to its overseas customers. That was only for the Japanese Tourist Volunteer Rifle Corps. Ubi's unauthorized use of copyrighted images is not limited to that, but has committed more serious violations. The most recent case was the discovery that the artist had partially altered and used a painting of a national important cultural property. This is managed by a national ministry, and unauthorized use could be a crime. It appears that this case of falsification of Japanese history and cultural appropriation by Ubi and its supporters is beginning to be treated as a crime. It is said that an investigation has already been started by a Japanese member of parliament to confirm this. Also, there are too many kindergarteners editing Wiki to make Yasuke's delusions into historical fact. There are Yasuke anime and novels, but they are fiction based on Yasuke, and in Japanese history Yasuke was Nobunaga's baggage carrier. Falsifying Yasuke's history is like assaulting him, and falsifying Wiki is the same as broadcasting it to the world.
The Japanese would never forgive that.

The problem is that this game has content that pleases historical revisionists, and has a quality that makes Japanese people feel unconscious racism by white people against people of color (blacks and Asians), and copyright infringement of images and other things continues to be discovered.
Diet members have launched an investigation into the unauthorized use of important national cultural properties, but now it has been discovered that designs have been stolen from Japanese anime.
"Does Ubi want to go bankrupt in a lawsuit?" There are so many points to point out that Japanese people are confused.

But he must understand that we, Japanese who are currently living in the US, also are struggling with it. Black peoples are not only races getting racial profiling. Living in the US long enough, can you imagine how many time I got pull over without doing anything wrong? All I can defend myself is keeping my driving record clean, so cop can let me go. Sometimes other people have been bothering me out of blue, saying racial comments on me. But guess what, most of them are black because some reason they think we don’t talk back. Right after lockdown, there were incidents Japanese are beaten by other races in the street and most of them were black. Did we bring up haterism against black communities? No. Because race is nothing to do with it. Bad guys are bad regardless any races.
So it’s the same thing applying here. We don’t care main character in this game is black or Japanese not.
Japan create so many manga, anime and games. Fate, for example, King Arthur is a female “Saber .” Other anime, Nobunaga was a girl. But these are all fiction. Most of them even show disclaimer saying “This is a fiction…..”
The problem of UBI was they claimed “Story of Yasuke is historical facts” in the beginning. Why this guy doesn’t mention where this mess coming from? Why he brought his own narrative and attacking us? Did he follow this mess with timeline? How UBI and IGN change their narrative days goes by?

There are mobs who mock JPs, saying that AC franchise are fiction and therefore dont need to be historically accurate, so that this kind of criticism is off the mark. They are shifting the point.
Of course, ACS is also fiction, but Ubisoft has made the "history" part of their "fiction based on history" different from descriptions that can be confirmed from historical documents. And theyre helping to spread this weird view of history to the world.
Thats why we JPs are angry and say "Dont lie about history." Although now the issues have expanded to include cultural appropriation and the exclusion of JPs

A fan would wonder why ACS doesn't use the "race" (fictional character) of the country in which it is set, as it has done in the past. And it would be natural to feel sympathy for the Japanese who were not made the main character even though it was set in their own country. As far as I can see, he does not mention it.
*As you know, there may be Japanese gamers who are disappointed that the main character is not Japanese, but they are not upset that the main character is black.
The people signing the petition are not angry about the race of the protagonist, they are angry about Ubi's statement that ACS is faithful to historical fact and the insult to Japan that comes with it.
People like him do not even try to read the reason for the signature properly. And also they treating Japanese people like invisible.
I think that called racism isn't it?

Red flags in Assassins Creed Shadows:
    1. Using an historical person as a main character.
    2. Using a main character not from the culture and region.
    3. Use of Chinese building structure in Feudal Japan.
    4. Ubisoft stealing a flag for the army.
    5. Hip hop music playing when Yasuke fights.
    6. Ubisoft working with Sweet Baby Inc AGAIN.
    7. Yasuke not acting like a Samurai in battle.
    8. Yasuke being treated as a God when everyone is just bowing to him.
    9. Ubisoft being involved with the edits around Yasuke on Wikipedia.
    10. Ubisoft using Chinese Mandarin in the Kanji in a game set in Feudal Japan.
    11. The pushing of LGBT stuff into the game (which also makes no sense in the realm of the animus).
    12. Ubisoft working with a writer who main "prominent" work is about monks being in relationships with young boys.
Also the double standards media has to glorify Yasuke killing a bunch of Japanese people yet these same people attacked the likes of RE5. The double standards also continue with the people praising this game, a game that doesn't pay 100% correct tribute to Japan, were the ones attacking Ghost Of Tsushima, which did try to be as accurate as possible, simply because it was made an entirely European team.
Those devs did their research. Ubisoft did not.

AC Liberation, AC Freedom Cry (AC4 dlc), AC 3, AC Origins ... Why the "racist gamers" didn't complain abot those games choice of protagonist? Don't get me wrong there was criticism about the dept of the characters or the quality of the games, but never "why is X character not white". Imagine how bad you must have lost the plot, for the gamers (people that will buy and play the biggest dogshit game and still give it 5/10) to call you out.
AC Liberation was made by Ubisoft side studio in my country and was severely underfunded and they still managed to give historical accuracy to a project set on the other side of the world.
If Ubisoft wanted a black protagonist in Japan, just write an original one, why they had to make an precedent of having nonfictional protagonist?
Because they want to get that DEI paychecks BUT want to avoid the stigma of being a DEI project.

UBI has also come under fire for its previous film, Assassin's Creed Valhalla. They lied about unwanted restrictions by the Japanese regulatory body CERO. CERO, which does not usually send out messages on social networking sites, immediately denied it and said that they had also passed the review. UBI then said they would investigate the matter and lied again, saying that the bleeding was removed due to a bug.
UBI piles on lies that even a 5 year old wouldn't tell.
The days of silence after UBI lied and was immediately denied, by CERO, were hilarious and laughable.
It should be against the rules to submit for review something that was not originally regulated and release something else, but the Japanese organization, perhaps naive to foreigners, did not pursue the issue, and after UBI made childish excuses, they shut their mouths.

  • @IchiroSuzuki51
    @IchiroSuzuki51 3 месяца назад +3

Thank you for making a video about this issue.
Akechi Mitsuhide is a great figure in Japan. He rebelled against his lord, Oda Nobunaga, and even Japanese people have an image of him as a traitor, but in Fukuchiyama, where this game is set, he ruled well during that time and was loved by the people. If you think about it, this is only natural, because if he ruled badly, he would be pushed out of his position by other capable vassals of Oda Nobunaga.
Looking at the PV for the game in question, Yasuke is massacring people in front of the people of Fukuchiyama, who he should be protecting as a samurai, in a place probably far from the battlefield.
If Yasuke had actually caused such a problem, he would have been sentenced to death along with Akechi Mitsuhide.
Of course, beheadings were not common in this era. Cutting off the head of a low-ranking samurai would not have been considered a military feat.
Yasuke himself is only recorded as participating in the Honnoji Incident, but even though he was captured by Mitsuhide, he was not killed because he was not worth killing. That is what I mean.
In this era, samurai does not mean the same as warrior. A samurai was the top of warriors, and if he was captured in a losing battle, he would be the first to be killed.
The term samurai = warrior came to be much later than this era. So, as you may know, Yasuke, who UBI deceived, is a great samurai, but that is fiction. It is unclear whether he was actually a warrior or not.
In the past, IGN criticized Resident Evil 5, which is set in a fictional African land, as discriminatory and opposed the remake. Has IGN raised any issues about Yasuke's massacre in this work or the developer's statement that beheadings were common in this era?
I am Japanese and cannot read English sentences, so even if such articles were published, I would not be able to read them, but if they are not, it would be very strange.
I can't read or write English so I had to rely on Google Translate.

    • @AscendedGaming777

That's ok that's why we have Auto-Translate and can understand each other bc of it. IGN is not the same as it use to be either. I agree with what u are saying and it makes total sense. I played a lot of Dynasty Warriors and beat Nioh. Tons of Lore exist for people to see right here and read online if they want to be educated and realize how this is wrong. Lot of people need to listen to what Japanese have to say and not just call them racist without any education and knowledge from Japan. The history is there not anywhere else unless it was given. I want to hear as much as possible from Japan and not from ones doing wrong pushing a agenda for marketing and profit. I also do not want to hear from people like this man who just wants to defend a political agenda and not see the truth and victimization...

    • @IchiroSuzuki51
      @IchiroSuzuki51 3 месяца назад +1

@@AscendedGaming777 Yasuke, who was introduced by UBI as a great samurai, is acting in a way that tarnishes Mitsuhide's reputation, even if it's just a game presentation, and the local people of Fukuchiyama are actually saddened. Judging from Mitsuhide's power and governing power at the time, it was not a place where Yasuke could be violent. Even among Japanese people, Mitsuhide Akechi tends to be portrayed in a bad light, but I think it would be inappropriate to describe him as a work of fiction, even if it was based on historical research of that era.
Making Yasuke the main character because he was a great samurai is not a reason at all from a Japanese perspective, and in the end it can only be seen as an expedient for commercial use.

IF ANYONE IS BEING RACIST HERE IS UBISOFT AND IT'S DEFENDERS!!! so hypocritical, his character design has to be the most stereotypically racist design ever, oh he's a black man with long hair so dreadlocks are a must, uuuum, so yeah dreadlocks do have some traces to african cultures HOWEVER "white" civilizations have them too and they were not the norm for african slaves, I recall someone defending this saying oh maybe because long hair in japan was considered manly for a samurai they wanted to implement that to yasuke, that makes it worse!!! they're literally saying the only way for a black man to have long hair is to have dreadlocks, cherry on top, there's only 2 known paintings of yasuke (one of them is even debated) and he's depicted to have short hair almost shaven, so they're not using his historically accurate look right, this character is pure fiction.

I have been arguing this point for over a week and will stand by it despite being attacked by the “woke” community. In my opinion not only should the Asian community be upset but so too should the black and LGBTQ communities be as well. Ubisoft is using these demographics to exploit for sales and as a shield when they are called out on their behavior. The fact that they feel the need to make both characters gay in Feudal Japan shows it was shoved in there for “inclusivity” not reality. They used Yasuke solely because he was black, not because he was an accomplished historical figure. They gave him a hip hop beat in the game that is associated with African Americans. Yasuke is African. Ubisoft sees all black people as being the same. They also see all Asians as the same, proof is using Chinese Kanji in a Japanese trailer. They couldn’t be bothered to hire actual researches, messed up culture, beliefs, and even daily manners of Japanese people while claiming to be historically accurate. Ubisoft has done nothing but be disrespectful and I am happy that Japan is standing up for their culture and heritage.

In the Shincho-Koki (Lord Nobunaga Chronicle), there are two Oda Samurai whose first names are Yasuke, and both of them have surnames (Shichizo and Iwanari). Their entry was recorded years before Yasuke worked for Nobunaga. The Kanji used for their first names is different from Yasuke's (whom was never given a name in those records), as theirs were used for Samurai whereas those for Yasuke is that for peasants. Nobunaga calls Yasuke Hachigo-Yasuke (Yasuke no 8) as there was a Nanakura-Yasuke (Yasuke no 7) among his other servants with the same name. Yasuke is a very common name that time, almost an equivalent to John in English. Yasuke is not even included in the official list of Oda Pages (servants who held the same rank as Ranmaru Mori)

Not everyone was gay, just that some were, and that image was also emphasized, as in Ranmaru Mori's second creation.
The character Ranmaru Mori is also a secondary character and is said to be modeled on Narutoshi Mori.
He was an excellent retainer who tried to protect Nobunaga at Honnoji until the end.
He is in a state of being made gay by posterity on his own.
Like ukiyoe, like kabuki influence, it is distorted by funny experts and adjusted by decent scholars, but in the past, by TV, now by the Internet, the impact is more prominent.
Be wary of suspicious Japanese and Asians who pose as experts abroad.
When you see Westerners overemphasizing Japanese yakuza, erotica, and anime, you can see how inaccurate the information is.

Seriously there are much more better samurai games out there and I recommend playing those over that junk heap Ubisoft is promoting. I highly recommend Ghost of Tsushima when Sucker Punch was developing that game they actually went to the actual island, did their research, spoke to the locals, and most of all they had Japanese consultants and historians involved.

    ruclips.net/video/QSRaaVIxR7E/видео.htmlsi=SNKjXJfZ6zzt8lSQ
Based on folk tales such as Momotaro, there is no doubt that when all Japanese people see a club, we imagine a ONI (villain like demon). Especially for Japanese children, a club is a weapon associated with a villain. It is uncomfortable for Japanese people to see Yasuke like a ONI brandishing a club-like weapon not normally used by Japanese samurai and crushing the head of us. UBI's depiction of Yasuke in this way is an insult to both Japanese and black Yasuke. I'm really scared of the racism that people at UBi, IGN, and SB are doing with their smiling faces.

Why is it considered sexist if there are no female or LGBTQ main protagonists in a game and racist if there are no black MAIN protagonists, but acceptable if there are no ASIAN main protagonist, especially in a game situated in Asia? Is it not racist to perpetuate Asian stereotypes as just Sidekicks and victims?
What if you have a game featuring a white, Englishman, like Tarzan, lording it out over Africans in Africa, and just assassinating Africans in the most brutal method? Is that acceptable? Should no one call it for being racist? Colonialist? Imperialist?

There is no description that Yasuke was a samurai, but there is no description that Yasuke was not a samurai in what is called a more accurate historical fact book that we Japanese know. That's for sure.
But, by the same reasoning, there is no statement that Yasuke was a man or that he was not a woman.
He said he took a bath to check if the color of his skin was true. However, there is no record of whether it was male or female. Well, just around the corner.
I think if Yasuke wanted to be a samurai for the sake of diversity in the game, he didn't have to be a man.
They could have had Yasuke in the setting that he was a female black man who became a samurai.
If Ubisoft had made such a challenge in the first place, I think the Japanese would have been very tolerant and said, "It's a game, so there's no need to make a fuss."
Because we Japanese often create fictional stories about Nobunaga as a woman. In addition, a long-form historical fantasy in which a woman held the real power of the world by switching men and women and making them samurai became a big hit in Japanese comics, so I don't think it's a bad idea.

I don't want to defend Ubi but I think the reaction of the Japanese is being too exaggerated, I mean they are offended by putting a black samurai but they turn every historical character both inside and outside of Japan into sexualized anime girls and when they are not historical figures are warships xD and I can't be offended by this? Not to mention the thousand misinterpretations they have about foreigners when creating stories from outside Japan. Besides, they themselves brought out the Obsidian samurai in Nioh and in the description, if my memory serves me right, they called him Yasuke, but no one said anything? In short, hypocrisy

    • @みかえ-h5z
      @みかえ-h5z 3 месяца назад +1

As you say, Yasuke appeared as a black samurai in "Nioh" and the Japanese did not have a problem with that. This fact is evidence that the problem with "Assassin's Creed Shadows" has nothing to do with Yasuke being black.
You should consider why it was not an issue in "Nioh" and was an issue in "Assassin's Creed Shadows".
Niou: Koei Tecmo says it is a fantasy game. So any content is allowed.
ACS: Ubisoft says it is a game based on historical fact. But in reality, they are fabricating historical facts. That is why they are criticized.

    • @krausserfox1772
      @krausserfox1772 3 месяца назад +1

@@みかえ-h5z First, they say inspired by facts, not based, they are two totally different things, Assassin's Creed is also fiction, everything is very far from reality and it has been like this in all of its sagas, I think it became clear when some characters began to have "powers" and that Historical characters appear in historical events does not mean that it stops being fiction, they say it themselves every time you open the game "inspired" and "fiction", it is a game not a documentary and yes Nioh was fantasy, but historical figures also appeared in historical moments like nobunaga or leyasu. And if the problem is not that he is black, then tell me why are these people being "offended"? Because the whole problem lies in the existence of Yasuke.

I am sure it exist bro but this was not about making it black. It's about Japan's history and how rude these ppl are insulting them and not including them in their own damn history and then calling them racist. Altering their history and for the first time ever make a main line not having the right protagonist fitting the region and even the game itself. A Ninja female was not the way. The Japanese Male has pride and he has no place in this game to represent his history. It's very wrong when it comes to WAR. What's more annoying is wokes trying to ignore all this and make it seem like it suppose to be about blacks which is Ubi using them in the wrong manner to insult Japan's masculine nature, Pride and history. This is why i focus on defending Japan. It is wrong and u know how many blacks love Japanese culture and watch anime? Grew up on their Video games? So many. They made amazing worlds for ppl and there is no problem against Japan and Colored people.
