Yuri, I just bought few days ago 2008 Volvo xc70 3.2L only osiemdiesiat thousands km. Toronto Area excellent shaped. I'm glad watching your Videos, harosha robota, spasiba !!!
The beige gear shift knob on our '08 V70 was badly worn so I bought a used black knob from Erie VoVo and it took less than 5 min to install thanks to your video. I even used dental picks like in the video. Thanks!
This video was very helpful, thank you! However, my "button" is stuck in the in position internally, even though the button itself is stuck in the out position, so I therefore have no lockout of reverse or park. Is it just not pushed down enough, or is something internal not right? Thanks!
Also knob I believe has to be pressed when removing it too. You showed it has to be pressed the knob when installing, but also when being removed from what I read elsewhere with a diagram online. I read that screwdrivers can be used to remove tabs off indentation to release knob before pulling it off. Here you used picks that look similar to dental picks. I guess either is fine. Nice video.
Thanks for your video! I have a volvo xc60 2011 and have been trying to buy a gear shift knob that fits my vehicle but none of the ones I've seen look like mine. Coincidentally, yours looks like mine. Do you mind telling me the part number please?
If I were to buy and install a new gear lever, is this plug & play, are there any modifications (center console, electronics ...)? From xc70 MY12 to MY15
I really like the new style gear shifter and have been wondering if it can be retro fitted.....how much did the complete unit cost and did you make a video?
Hey Juri wanted to ask you since that is a long time question and I write on google and I dont get clear answers. But my question is , why did you choose an automatic transmission ? Are they better for the engine ??? I mean if you want to rich with a diesel car up to 700.000km its better an automatic transmission ? I just want to know if its the automatic better for the engine to last long or it doesnt matter if its automatic or manual. Im an owner of the V70 MY08 manual transimission I want to change my car to XC70 and most of them in the market are automatic.... I dont get it
+rebelaris Hey. Most cars are automatic today. Not many people plan on keeping their with high milage. Also not many people know how to drive manual including my wife. So I can't keep manual car in my family. Even semi trucks are more and more automatic today.
By the way I think prices went up like 25 percent from what I paid if not more. I replaced my gear shifter on my 2012 s80 like in 2014 or 2015. I think I paid like 75 U.S. dollars for it. I'll try to check my records. Now i see they are going for well over a 100 dollars.
hi, can you tel me, please, how much dose the knob cost where you live, because here in Spain it's like 170€ and I saw it in USA for like 53$. the bad thing is that to ship it they charge 70$. it's cheaper the EU but still... and do you know if they sell only the top/central part of knob. I saw it can be removed easily thanks
Are you planning to replace whole gear shift with housing for dacelift model ? it is possible to replace for facelift one. i think it is much more nicer. it is just plug n play. =) i want to replace it because from poland it is very cheap only about 80€ fits from v40 xc40 v60 xc60 xc70 s80 v70 ;)
Awesome love the way you work with directions and you’re talking clearly in the video I’ll give you 100% on that you are very good
Thanks for showing how to remove the shift knob. This worked on my 2012 XC60.

Looked like you twisted the collar clockwise; not counterclockwise.

Another great manual! I wonder if you can reupholster the shift knob? Have anyone done that?
Very good but you turned the lock ring CLOCK WISE to remove it & NOT anti clock wise 👌👍

In my opinion the newer style shifter does not fit the cars design. I have no plans on do it that update. It is though a direct fit.
Is there someone who can help me,how i have to remove the shiftknob from mij Volvo V70 2013/14 model?
and how in the manual?
+Rudy Ormowiec No idea.
I used two screw drivers instead of picks used in video. It works just as well.
What ever works for you. Good.
Yes, thank you. Nice video.

+Stefan Nylund It actually looks really cool! I have a manual, but I guess its pretty much the same Idea.
Great info.Thx. In my opinion the new style is not so great.
Are you Swedish?
Russian

You have to get the complete set from a -13 or newer, these are dirt cheap to buy.
