      Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror official live video
      Now a curiosity.
      This show I think was the biggest show Iron Maiden ever played in the amount of people. At the time they played for 250,000 people. Today the Rock in Rio event is held in a maximum audience of approximately 80,000 people.
      Well, I'm Brazilian and I hope my English was enough to convey this curiosity.

    Juliette brought up a really great point. There will always be what is considered “mainstream” for its day and then artists that deviate from that like metal or rap. Twenty years from now, she’ll probably be having the same sort of conversation with her children about popular music and what she was listening to “back in her day.”

    • @jazumon72
      @jazumon72 4 года назад

      Rap is the most popular genre right now. It is mainstream today.

    • @DenverStarkey
      @DenverStarkey 4 года назад

      actually with the internet , I find people of her generation listen to a whole shit ton of things , no one genre was "made" by or for this generation of kids , they just sort of sample all genres from various periods. sure you can say "well rap is what they listen to mostly" but rap itself DOES NOT originate with this generation. this generation (of kids) has no defining music genre to call their own really. but they have the itnerent and can access every piece of music that has been written in the last 2000 years.

    There are four songs that nearly every fan wants to hear at a Maiden concert. The Trooper, Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills, and ofc, Fear of the Dark. I got to experience the last three as the encore during the 'Dance of Death' tour and it was mind blowingly fantastic how the fans reacted. Everyone was standing and singing along, it was beautiful to see such a well respected and love band having fun with their fans and an experience every lover of Maiden should have sometime in their life.

    1st of all, bruce has a history as theater actor from his education along with educated in music, the theatrical side is much more noticeable on like fear of the dark, powerslave and hallowed be thy name.
    2ndly, when adrian smith left the band in 1990, janick gers replaced him in the band, then adrian rejoined the band in 1999 along with bruce, they still have their 3 guitarists (dave, adrian and janick) to this day and they have very different tunes to their guitars, you can hear who is playing what if you know what to listen for

    i love the lyrics of this song. it really encapsulates the idea of a fear of the dark. some parts of it that we all have felt.
    my favorite part is the 3rd verse:
    "Have you ever been alone at night
    Thought you heard footsteps behind
    And turned around and no-one's there?
    And as you quicken up your pace
    You find it hard to look again
    Because you're sure there's someone there"
    who hasnt experienced that at some point?

    Many fans complain about Maiden playing this song every concert and I used to feel on same way. Then some time later I've started to understand why. And this is my theory. By the time FOD was released, the Grunge wave was dominating the musical scene and many new rock fans fell in love with it. The media was crushed by that new type of sound and Heavy Metal was put aside by the same media. However FOD kept Maiden on the map and kind "saved" their career during the 90's (Blaze in, Bruce out). Also many kids got in touch with Maiden because of this song which led to create a new fan base. In summary, FOD is still important for playing a role to continuing attract younger fans. And you have to agree: FOD is awesome live.

    whenever doing an Iron Maiden reaction, live versions are usually the way to go. They are one of best live rock acts out there, and their singer, Bruce Dickinson, is second only to Freddy Mercury when it comes to getting the crowd going If you guys get back to them any time soon, I'd suggest Rime of the Ancient Mariner from Flight 666, 2 Minutes 2 Midnight from El Vivo, or, for their post 2000 era material, Passendale from Death on the Road.

    If you want to hear the crowd, you should listen to Blind Guardian - The Bards Song.. there is a nice live video of Wacken with The Bards Song and Valhalla... you should react to this :D

    Unless you've been to an Iron Maiden concert, you cannot truly appreciate just how loud audience is singing along to every word, and every note of the guitar solos of every song.

    I loved that song Thin Line between Love and Hate off Brave New World. Matter of Life and Death released in '06 was one of the best newer Maiden albums. There is a tune off that album called "The Longest Day" which contains a video from the movie "Saving Private Ryan" which shows the invasion of Normandy in WW II. Please do a review of that.

    I love the reactions and IM. I am a new sub. I would like to see you guys react to several artists, however, I think it's appropriate to suggest the best. Please react to Between the Buried and Me - either "Voice of Trespass" or "Extremophile Elite".

    Iron Maiden is THE band that gets the crowd riled up and excited. Do Rime of the Ancient Mariner, or Revelations from their Flight 666 DVD next and be amazed.

    I wonser how she (well, both really) would like Dimmu Borgirs 'Gateways' live in Oslo from their Forces of the Northern Night tour.
    I'm also interested in seeing you guys check out Ghost. Perhaps Square Hammer, or Monstrance Clock.
    On a personal note, this took me back. I was 13 when I started getting into metal, and I remember listening to a lot of the same stuff you guys are doing when I was her age, haha.
