7:00 mark is where I show the adjusted modulation

I want one but I just got back in the hobby and got a Anytone 6666 a few weeks ago. So far I like what I have. I’m sure these new V2’s are great but I’m going to give them some time to work out any bugs. That and give you tech guys some time to work with them. Seems like they released a winner so far though. I’m just cautious with new designs after selling new cars for 12 years. I know radios and cars are different but it does take a little time to get things just right. Thanks for releasing these video’s of the service menu. I was under the impression it was going to be computer software and you had to connect it to the computer to do this. I like how the did it.
The quad 6 is a great radio. Same board as the 955 with a better receive filter. The version 2 of those is coming out as well. Probably just added the noise reduction and noise gate options. I’d say you made a great choice, I have several vids on the quad 6, and own 2 myself. Mobile in the pickup and one as a base option. 73
@@ChiefMade Yeah it’s been working great! I’ll more than likely keep it when I do get a 955 V2 later on. So far my only complaint is the encoder. But it’s minor. I hear that’s an issue with them.
@@JayP7.62 yeah it is but not horrible
@@ChiefMade No not at all. If I do end up selling it later on when I get a 955 v2 I just have to make sure it’s to someone that aware of it the issue. But like I said I’ll more than likely keep it. Nice to have a backup on hand.
Thank you for that video!! I'm betting after I ask a few questions, that you're going to think, "... man, what a pain in the @$$!" LOL. But it wouldn't be the first time someone said that to me, so I'll ask and see what happens: First; I bought the SR955HPC V2 radio back in June 2022. I had it sent to a pro CB shop. There, the tech converted it to 11 meter and then Peaked & Tuned it.
I set it up in my 2022 Jeep GC with the Stryker A-10 Mag-Base antenna. I set the SWR and checked it with 3 meters. A cheap Workman SWR/Power meter with a single-meter, a Workman SWR/Power meter with 2 meters, and a much more expensive Dosy TC-4002-PSW meter. Even so, I don't think any of them can come close to that SX-200 that you have. I got my SWR down to about 1:0.2/1:0.3 across all 40.
I haven't had a problem with any of it and a lot of people say it sounds great. Without any skip, I get out between 15 & 20 miles, no problem. OK, so all I want to do is check the radio every year or so just for confirmation reasons.
*Here's where I get to be a "pain in the neck":
I have a Siglent SDS1202X-E 2-channel 200 MHz digital scope and an old, (but good) BK Precision 2120, 2-chanel, 20 MHz analog scope. I can easily get my hands on a Diamond SX-200 meter if my Dosy can't be trusted. However, the two Birds, (82005 and 82003) are a different story.
I may be able to buy one of the Main units, (I think it's a model 43), as a used unit (w/o a slug) for about $300. Then buy a new 82005, 100W 2-30MHz slug, which I found for about $205. I have yet to find a 82003 25W 2-30Mhz slug but I may succeed if apply a little more time in my search.
Another option may be to find an alternate RF device that can replace each of the Birds that you have. (Now the questions):
A] Can you suggest an alternate meter that can stand in place of either, (or both), Birds?
B] (this is the 'big one'); Can you please show a 'layman's map' or list the path and connecting points of each device? That is; from the radio, to X-A, then to X-B, then to X-C, etc.
The important thing is to know what probe and/or grounds are connecting to and/or from each of the device's Input/output connections.
I'm strictly a hobbyist when it comes to electronics. Oh, I have many years soldering experience and I know the basic components, (resistors, transistors, caps, diodes, etc.), but what I know for sure is just how quick I can fry a radio, scope, meters, and myself if I connect just one thing wrong!
I have several hobbies so I average about 5 hours per month on electronics, (just out of curiosity). I have a number of instruments to measure all kinds of things; Signal Function generator, AC Multi meter, .5 amp Varivac, etc., etc. But I'm far from knowing enough to risk my radio on a guess.
So that's about it! Those two questions, (A & B), should keep you cursing at me for a few minutes. Of course, that's assuming you even intend to try and answer them!
That said, I want you to understand that I am serious when I say that I won't hold it against you if you don't answer. (Seriously, I honestly understand that it can be a little too much to ask from you or anyone else.)
In any case, thanks again for the video!

You ca get good deals on Bird meters at area hamfests. You can just get one that had the pep option on it or add one to it and just use the one meter. The diamond meters are very good imo. Can’t go wrong there if that’s the way you choose to go.
As far as running through the equip chain, radio into meters and then to a rf tap tht feeds the scope and freq counter, then into a dummy load. Thank you!
@@ChiefMade THANK YOU!! I'll check and see if there are any Hamfests in my area and when they take place. I don't have a license for Ham but I always wanted to work toward getting one and I have no doubt that a Hamfest may be the best place to go for questions I have about that. (Frankly, I don't know why I didn't think of that myself!)
Thanks for running through the equip chain, too!
Rich
Keeps it clean this way
you should have shown whoat you did to show in the func button radio to raise the low power modulation. that would have been helpful
I’d have to go back and watch again, pretty sure I said you press the ptt and adjust the channel knob to move up or down. Down is more on the settings. Use a meter and scope to adjust properly! Thanks for watching
i missed something. i would like to see the second vidio.
You need to raise your high end audio limits so it can open up the swing . That is what I did an that work like a charm ....
Do you remember which setting that was?
I want one of these radios . I want it for peaceful proposes .
The V2 sound louder but I have a chance to get a version1 pretty cheap just think about it now
My RCI X9 was doing the same thing.
Awesome. Lot of peeps looking for a walk-thru on how to set it up via the menu. Oscilloscope would definitely be handy to have.
Yeah… 😁
@@ChiefMade
I'm curious as to what UL POWH and UL POWL do in the setup menu. UL=Upper Limit? Dunno. Was hoping that someone could shed some light on it's function.
@@TXLoneStar_ this I’m unsure of. Didn’t mess with it
I’m about to get a heavy duty power cord and some 8 gauge wire and connect it to the battery and see will I get a difference
You will! The new ones don’t have quite the drop the original ones did
I need to get an oscilloscope
U know where I can get a the factory setting I didn't know I had to write them down
Um , from what I can gather , there is an export version . But this radio is American made .
is the voltage just menu controlled to read high did you put a volt meter on it?
I did it is accurate. The ps I had it hooked to was reading the same. Volt meter as well. The new ones don’t have the voltage drop as the 1st versions either . I thought that was a nice fix
In the menu you can adjust the voltage of it isn’t accurate. Calibrate in other words
When I key up on my Stryker it shows DC low
In a mobile or base? That’s gonna be whatever power supply you are hooked up to
So I don’t have to connect my power cord to the battery now?
You can connect it however you’d like. Battery is how I run mine
I drive a kw t880
It appears that while adjusting modulation in the service menu, smaller numbers means louder modulation, correct?
Yeah
@@ChiefMade : Thank you, sir! Work the same way with SSB power mods?
@@TheLonesometoad yessir
@@ChiefMade 👍
My friend could you please show me which pot to turn in order to put my Stryker 955hp back to 90 watts like it was PLEASE
Don’t recommend it but there are pics online if you search
How about telling us how to enter the service menu?
I did. Have you watched the new video
@@ChiefMade : Yes, just did. Thank you, BUT. It's rather unclear. When you make a selection to, lets say, adjust the high power on AM, how do you change it. I see where you select it using the encoder, but then how do you make a change? Do you use the corresponding controls somehow? Like, choose AM high power, then use the RF power knob to adjust?
EDIT: AHA! Watched it again! So, choose AM high power, key mic, then use the encoder to change.
@@TheLonesometoad no just key up to display the value and use channel selector to adjust
@@ChiefMade : I see that now. Excellent. Thank you!
