I swear my j dub family would melt like the wicked witch when she was hit by water if I told them this was a satanic religion and I only follow Jesus the best my imperfect self can do, I don’t believe this religion is the truth by all the researching and hearing them speak against the bible, they don’t say it but if you know the bible you can pick up in the lies really easy, a j w thinks they are it, but not according to Jesus

Hi Wendi! I just found your channel! This was so great to see Laura got away! I am a fourth generation, born in. My kids were the fifth and last! I finally left after 42 years! I’ve been out for 9 years now and my kids got me out! It feels so great!!! Unfortunately, when I stopped going to the meetings, I found out what “conditional” love was. My mother stopped talking to me because I wouldn’t kick my kids out and go back to meetings. I told her it would never happen! She died last year and the last thing she had told me in a parking lot was that I was going to die with my kids!😱 I told her that I was ok with that, because I would be dead!!! There truly is no love in the JW’s. My best friend never even called me once I stopped going to meetings! Oh but, her husband was the COBE🤔It’s a long story but glad to be out! Also glad I don’t have a big family that kept me in! Keep up the good work!🌺🌺🌺

What a great interview. Thanks for sharing this. I am a father of an 18 year old daughter. I think my wife and I brought both our children up well. Yes they were raised as JWs and now that I'm no longer a believer despite my background I hope that I have instilled into both of them the need of using a critical thinking mind. I couldn't help but feel for this young lady as she was telling her story, especially so when she spoke of her father. My daughter has expressed that she wants to keep pioneering and when she finds a like minded man she wants to go to bethel with him. That's her long term goal. I can see all of that crumbling as it takes a lot for something like that to take place. Anyway I will always be there for her regardless.

Thanks for sharing your story . I really enjoy hearing different perspectives and experiences. I’m hoping my marriage will survive. She keeps telling me I’m under satan’s grasp and an apostate. This is having a really bad affect on my already fragile mindset.
My mom is starting to wake up. She is in the very beginning stages. She is losing sleep already. I want to help her but am not capable at this time. I’m stuck in my own personal purgatory. I think purgatory best describes it, even though we were never taught it. Somehow I still get up and go to work everyday. My wife is hurting. Mom’s hurting and will be hurting more soon. Trying hard to stay positive but awake at 4 AM, with all kinds of ruminating thoughts. RTS, just sucks. I know I sound crazy or don’t make sense sometimes. I just want this to be over.
My thanks and love goes out to the community here!

Hi Jay, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings in your comment. You are right where you are supposed to be in your journey. I know that it looks real scary right now, because what you and your wife is going through *is scary.* I hope your marriage will survive too. When the love of your life says to you that *"you are under Satan's grasp and an apostate,"* that is some of the most hurtful things one can be told within the JW CULTure.
Please remember, that she ( and you ) has been indoctrinated to become beyond scared, 😨 even terrified of anything that sounds like, smells like or even appears to be any doubt regarding Jehovah using this organization. [ this is because of what is called, *fear induction* or *fear indoctrination* ]
This is a foundational doctrine of the WT. If one has doubts about whether or not Jehovah is using this organization, their experience is as though *the ground* ( one's foundation ) is *dropping right out from underneath them.*
Coming to terms that you may have in fact been in ( or are still in ) a high control authoritarian Society where you have been trained ( it has been inculcated in to you ) that anything outside of this Society is of the devil, your mindset is naturally going to be in a fragile state of mind. And yes, what you are going through sucks, but it's totally normal for where you are at in your journey. I like that you came up with the *purgatory analogy* regarding this place or stage that you are in. Because It's like you're *stuck in this holding place* where you are trying to make sense of things, which is causing *"cognitive dissonance."* Cognitive dissonance is when one has two opposite beliefs happening at the same time. *Which can actually feel like your equilibrium is off.* So as you are *trying to make sense of things,* it can be mentally overwhelming and you may feel somewhat dizzy.* this may be some of what's causing your repetitive, ruminating thinking. It wouldn't hurt to see a professional psychiatrist that can help you get through this time. I've done it and there is no need for any shame in doing so. When a diabetic takes medication we understand. If a diabetic can control their suger levels by changing up the way that they eat, then that's even better. Same thing when we are going through things that take a lot out of us mentally. We could maybe use some meeds temporarily, once there is no longer a need for them, which is a decision made between you and the doctor, it is super important that the doctor directs you in how you are to decrease the dosage untill you are totally off of them. *It's very dangerous to just stop taking them without lowering the dosage of the medication over an amount of time.* When my doctor has done it with me, it has been a four to six week process. Or we could possibly learn some practical techniques that we are just not aware of. You may be thinking things like, what is it that is or has happened to me?
God is an organize God and he's always had an organization & the things that I have been taught by JW{.}ORG, is that this is the Organization that they are claiming is the only channel by which Jehovah is using to communicate to his people. Yet the problem is, if Jehovah is the same yesterday today and forever, ( meaning he doesn't change ) why would his channel of communication keep changing their teachings?
Oh that's right, it's called, *"New Light."*
Now if you really *take some time to ponder on this concept of new light* for a bit with me, and then some more later *on your own,* it may actually be *kind of fun.*
For example, let's ponder on the, *as "the light gets brighter and brighter" concept.*
Let's say the governing body is looking at a can of Pepsi in the center of that big long table that they meet at once a week. If Jehovah is using a dimmer switch to slightly turn up the light with that can of Pepsi still in view by these mature anointed brothers, *will the can of Pepsi stop being a can of Pepsi as the light becomes even brighter?* Will that *can of Pepsi* become say, *a can of Orange Crush, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, or better yet, a cup of Starbucks coffee?* Or how about when one of the above beverages *( you pick the one and you can tell me later which one you picked, lol )* finally became *understandable.* After spending 6 months to 10 years with this *new understanding* that has been *labeled as a clarification, not a change of biblical doctrine,* you've been able to give talks about *the beverage,* you've been sharing *this beverage door-to-door in the ministry,* and *you're feeling pretty good about this beverage now* and then one day out of the blue, you are watching *one of the governing body members with pointer stick & a chart.* Someone in their infinite wisdom has decided to put *Fred Franz* on the chart *as an example, yet having him on there is not really the way it is.* But Okay......
You are watching and listening, trying to make sense of what you are being shown. Then he says, *"Now wasn't that easy?"* Did you get i? Yeah, neither did I.
Now the beverage ( that you chose earlier ) has now been turned into *the overlapping root beer float.*
      🤔🙄😐😊
So again, everything has changed because of course the governing body are neither infallible nor Spirit directed. They are simply God's chosen imperfect men who sometimes get things wrong. Now IDK about you? but I was taught that they ( the governing body ) were Spirit directed.
When one gets baptized, the 2nd statement that they are to reply to *with a resounding yes* is, do you understand that you are being baptized ( or committing yourself verbally to a corporate contract. ) in *the name of the father, Son and Holy Spirit* ( it used to say ) *directed* ( now it is says ) *derived organization?*
I think I'll stop there. I'm sure you get the confusing pictures.
Let me just say here that in time, it's going to get easier and therefore it will get better. Please find an Ex-JW Man that has been out for some time now that has gone through what you are going through now to become friends with in hope's that you can run things by him, vent to him and make a new friend. There is exjw Reddit and plenty of Ex-JW groups on Facebook where you can find someone. If you have kid's, be sure to find an EX-JW man who has kid's too. It is a big comfort to talk with those who really understand what you are going through.
Jay, whatever choices that you make, you are going to get through this with some amazing wisdom under your belt. It is this wisdom that you will gain by going through your own experiences that will be priceless and will be very good for you in the future.
      Take care of yourself.

Being raised in a protestant home with a misogynistic father and family structure I had a tendency to question the way religious tenets and Biblical verses were used and interpreted to enforce misogyny yet while this led to arguments I wasn't shunned unlike those who question JW teachings. Misogyny exists no matter what denomination one is a part of but the JWs seem to take the misogyny to extremes. In the Jehovah’s Witnesses religion women are supposed to be housewives and mothers and dedicate their life to witnessing however quite unlike protestant denominations they are actively discouraged from higher education. Women are actually ordered by the Watchtower to stay with abusive, violent family and spouses and only adultery on the part of either spouse is deemed acceptable grounds for divorce. The JW teachings therefore jeopardise your safety if you have an emotionally and/or physically abusive or violent family, parent or spouse. The Watchtower endorses patriarchy and the teachings of the JW weaponise the Bible. The priorities of JWs are so warped i.e. SO are not turned over to police while teens are punished just for having social media accounts.

Thank you for talking about this. I grew up in a really big, loud, loving congregation with TONS of kids. Then the hall split and we went to join a newer congregation starting out with very few kids. They were really sickly, quiet, and weird. I didn't fit in with them and they didn't like me. I was 16. I couldn't hang out with kids at school and I didn't have friends at the hall. I was so depressed.

@@BeautybyJemyjoan but, I got my sister out! She’s 4 years older than me, I’ll be 53 next month so, she will be 57. I’ve been out 10 years and my mother shunned me for the last 8 years of her life. She died in 2020 and I knew my sister hadn’t gotten baptized , that she was just going because if my mother. My mother told her to stick with the witnesses, they would take care of her! I got to her just before she almost got baptized! She had shunned me 8 years too. I knew it was because of my mother. The last thing my mother said to me, was, “ you’re going to die with your kids!” My 2 kids had been disfellowshipped and my mom thought I should kick them out, I refused. All I did was stop going to the meetings, I wasn’t doing anything wrong! I told my mother, “well, I’ll be dead and I won’t know it!”
After my mother died, I sent my sister a messenger and just asked her, if she ever wanted anything to do with me, if, not I wouldn’t bother her again. She answered right away, this was July 2020, height of the pandemic and no one cared about her. She has heart issues and even had her second heart when I was there for her! I told her what I’d learned and she was as shocked as I was. We’ve been “back together” and she was saved from baptism! The same sister that was supposed to tell my sister about her hair color? When she found out my sister was talking to me, asked if she had talked to the elders? She said, no what for? The sister told her if she didn’t tell the elders, she would! My sister said go ahead. An elder called her and said, oh I hear you’re talking to your sister again. Yep, she says. He tells her to keep in touch with the congregation. In the middle of Covid! No one checked on her and she hasn’t heard from them since then!
I wish everyone would wake up! Maybe some will, now that they added 2 new governing body members! Have a great night😃

Got the best comeback to if a "sister" ever said that. "My husband has prestige. My husband has power."
"Your husband broke as hell." Any ex-JW knows if you become an elder's wife, a Bethel (think I spelled it right) wife, or missionary's wife; as soon as the the elders take away that status your "powerful" husband has, you're gonna be living in poverty for a long time, or close to being on the streets. Course to them, "punishment" from the "world" is a good thing XD . Awesome vid. You ladies rock!

Oh this made me remember something from when I studied with jw's 10+ years ago.
I was visiting a sister that got recently divorced after her husband (jw as well) cheated and didn't want to get together again. She told me that she had doubts before the marriage and that no one listened when she tried to talk about it with friends. they were all about how great it would be and it would be all right. The day she married, after the ceremony they got back home to their room and his behaviour changed completely. Typical bait and switch. She already regretted marrying him within a day.
And now, she was sitting far away from her friends in a small apartment having a difficult time financial, because he cheated and left her. I remember that the thing she was hurt by the most was that he was back in the old congregation treated like he never did anything wrong while she was here alone, mostly ignored by the old congregation.
I remember the pain and sadness in her eyes. It was absolutely heart breaking.
