  • Sparring highlights!
    Starring 2 guys from BŠS and 3 guys from Žoldnieri, Bratislava.
    Most of our rapier studies are centered around Salvator Fabris - one of the true geniuses of fencing whose unique style and approach we're trying to recreate. Hopefully one day we'll be able to do that to the fullest. Until then - practice, practice, practice.
    The video is fairly long but it's 1,5hours of continuous sparring down to a few highlights. Thanks for watching!
    Weapons used:
    Regeneyi long rapier
    Hanwei 43"
    Custom with hanwei 43" blades
    All weigh ca 1.2kg
    Daggers - custom makers from Slovakia

    It’s so sad that we had some OF the best schools and masters of striscia and now in Italy noone knows about Salvatore Fabris or Nicoletto Giganti. Anyway good job :)

    I enjoyed watching this video. I noticed that the main sword was dropped a few times during the sparring match. I'm new to rapier fencing. Would someone, please, enlighten me if there is a deduction in point scoring for dropping the sword?
    Thanks.

    • @MartinFabian
      @MartinFabian  6 лет назад +4

      Hi Tyrone, this depends on individual tournament/league/federation rules. In our rules you may be given a penalty/warning or if the loss is a result of an action, the disarmer may score a point for disarming.
      Usually, like in this video it happens because of two reasons (and is very seldom). When someone attacks and the thrust is too powerful, sometimes people let the sword go in order not to break the blade and not to inflict too much damage with excessive force. Other reason is just bad wrist alignment like 5:02 or 6:40.

    very nice fencing. Do leg hits not count? I see you're not wearing leg protection

    • @MartinFabian
      @MartinFabian  4 года назад +2

      Hi, in most rulesets I fought yes. Some rulesets prioritize other targets over legs but they are usually a valid target.

      @@MartinFabian Just wondering, are there ever cross-discipline/open sword events? E.g longsword v rapier

    • @MartinFabian
      @MartinFabian  4 года назад

      @@foyfoy9440 Yes, but usually as a part of practice. It's quite seldom there's an open weapon tournament.
