"I have less casualties with cocopeat" 😂You made my day today! ❤ But, seriously talking, I always admire people who can take care of so many plants. I limited myself up to 20 outdoor trees, shrubs and flowers and up to 5 indoor plants and they all succulents. Then, this summer I found information that I can propogate succulents from leaves;so, I decided to give it a try. OMG, now my head is spinning around - who do I check first, which plants do I need to water, move them from window to window. Looking forward to upcoming winter, when at least I don’t need to worry about outdoor plants. Checking leaves pretty much every other day for roots or babies, separate them. Life became very busy.
I hear you, Rocky! But I get excited watching those little babies pop up. So satisfying. I hope you'll continue to enjoy them. Thanks for watching and have a lovely day!🥰
I love your propagation videos! I am crazy about propagating. Sometimes when I go to the store and I see a plant that I want and if I can find a leaf that has fallen or I ask if I can pluck one leaf and they let me I would rather propagate it than buy it!! (I always always ask permission) So if my mother leave has fallen off and there are absolutely no roots just lay it on top of damp soil, not wet soil. Gotcha. Also when I have these huge giant thick pink aerial roots and I cover them up with soil they always pop back out of the soil LOL it doesn't matter how wet I keep it so I am actually going to dig a hole on those ones today and bury them like that rather than just putting soil on top of them. My babies grow fast like yours so I must be doing something right and every time you do a propagation video you just make me feel so confident in myself lol❤️❤️❤️

Hello Liz...I believe you can properly be called a "hoarder"...LOL...but of the best kind! Do you even have a place to sit down and eat...or sleep...or walk? And your husband must be the most understanding husband ever to walk on this earth! When they made you, they certainly threw away the mold, because even the best succulent nurseries do not have the enormous inventory as you, one little lady, of which you certainly have bragging rights to. I bet there are even plants in your bathtub, or at least in your bathroom, watching you in your most intimate doings. But I love you, one jewel that sparkles from within and from without! Thanks for watching and the lovely comment Kristi. My husband and I have a mutual respect and appreciation of each other. He respects and appreciates my cooking and I respect and appreciate that he's always grateful to all that I do for him. 😉 He always says, "Happy wife, Happy life." 😂 Hope you'll find my videos useful. Have a Wonderful Day!
So Liz ( I can’t stop watching your videos! your enthusiasm and fun loving personality is so warm and I just want to be your friend lol ) anyway these videos will have to do… my QUESTION is can we do a shortened 123 version? Lol as I understand step one - pluck the leaves and place on paper or cardboard with no water and place in bright light about a week Step 2- after a week or so place on damp coco peat Step 3 do I water when placed on peat? And bright light? No cover correct? Step 4 keep lights bright and watering every day? I’ve been having less that desirable results with my leaf propagation- I do have one PVN leaf that looks promising but my stump and head are going strong yay! I just need a little help with directions on the leafs- I’ve watched so many of your and a few others but I remain unsure ( I’m usually VERY good with directions lol)
Step 123 is how a lot of unsuccessful propagation happens as each individual variety of succulent(For ex. Echeveria) have different growing needs and different 123....LOL You can pluck a leaf from an Echeveria Laui and wait for it to grow and sometimes when plucked in the wrong season can take a long time to germinate. On the other hand, If you plucked a leaf from an Echeveria Afterglow....it will never germinate. At least not in my experience. Now we have different species like Graptopetalum, Pachyphytum, Aeonium, Graptoveria. Pacheveria, Sedum, Aloe, Crassula, etc....Just to name a few and 123 won't do. Now when it comes to watering, soil mix, acclimatization; just to mention some topics....They all have different treatments as well. And they say succulents are so easy to grow....LOL
Hi Liz! I have had lots of success propagating various echeveria by "chopping the head off", like you showed in this video, but my leaf propagations have been less successful. The leaves always grow lots of strong, large roots, but never any new leaves/baby plants. Do you have any suggestions? I've tried having them in trays of soil in my south facing window, as well as under a grow light. Thanks!
Some variety, some TIME, only grows roots. In other times, they grow pups. Putting the leaves on top of paper towel and nothing else and under a lamp with constant moderate temperature helps. Only put them in soil once pup and roots are prominent. Good luck!
You are so cute! Thank you for sharing with us. Mine need lots of water as well so I completely understand about the proof being in the pudding. If they need less I just move them to another tray.
Hello! Love you videos! Learning a lot from all your vlogs! I was wondering how your succulent in the videos got root rot from previous owner not watering them and keeping them very dry? I tend to do that with my succulents since I so scared of root rot:( when I receive succulents in the mail I do soak the dried roots with seaweed and water before planting them. Should I water them regularly instead of waiting for signs that they really need water?
When and if the soil dries up, succulent will take water from anywhere it can, including itself. Therefore, the root rot. Succulents need regular watering. You just have to "let the soil dry up" between watering, but not too dry that the plant will show sign of dehydration.
Hi Liz. You show a brown liquid that you mix with water and soak your dried heads of the succulents. What is that product? I can never see the label well. Thank you!
Once they're grown out of the propagating soil, I put them in my "Advance soil mix" to further hasten their growth or "Master Soil Mix" for the diva/temperamental ones.
Hi Liz! My succulents have been growing like crazy because of your videos. I know you said you water your leaves daily, (which I do!) But I'm wondering if you have any expertise information you could help me with. I'm wondering at what size should you start to water them less? What do you recommend for watering on your adult succulents?
What lighting conditions should you put fresh cuttings in? Unsure if I should put under grow light straight away. Also should I put a cover over to increase humidity or will it rot them?
May I suggest watching the video below to better answer your question. Secret of the Succulent Chair | VLOG #61 Succulents & Coffee w/ Liz - ruclips.net/video/oDyfCB3Fn-A/видео.html
It’s 12:30am and I might just get up and fertilize my babies 😁 thank you for that tip. I’m wondering why the pink/yellow beauty 18:36 would die if you removed it now?
I am obsessed with all your videos! Never worry that they’re too long - I am always sad when they end! I grow a ton of succulents in my basement greenhouse and have a lot of prop trays under grow lights. They’re doing well but it’s very hard to water 200+ pups with a squirt bottle, and I find that a regular watering can is too forceful and messes up the soil and makes a mess. Can you tell me what your sprayer there is called, and/or where you got it? I would also be very interested in a video about liquid fertilizer, especially on baby/young plants. Thank you for your funny and informative videos!! I watch them every morning with my coffee!
Thank you for your video, do you mind I ask some help? I am propagate my succulent from leaves indoor and indoor temperatures is around 77F and 60-71 humidity. But almost 1 months nothing happened no rooting and no babies. Do you think the temperature is not warm enough? I leave them on top of soil and place them near window that gets afternoon filter sun 😢
It all depends on the succulents. Not all succulent will grow from leaves. Growing them under a lot of light also helps germinate them faster. Doesn't have to be a grow light. Even an LED lamp will encourage faster growth.
Thank you po😊

Hi Liz! Love all of your videos, have watched them all, and I especially love the longer ones. Quick question, if you have time to give. How much do you think different climates (humid versus arid) affect how and how much babies and leaf props should be watered? It’s humid here and I’m always afraid to get the leaves wet. Thank you!
Hi Jennifer, You ask a very difficult question that needs a half hour video explanation which I did in dribs and drabs on different videos, but lets see how I go... Here in Canberra at the moment, rain is 70%, the temperature is 18°C and we have 81% humidity. I have a couple of echeverias that had too much to drink. We have more rainy days to come. I also have some that I'm soaking in rain water up to now. They've been in there for 3 days. If the mature plant is nice and plump, then you don't need to water and if humidity is high, its best to keep them on the dry side and only water them when the weather cools down and when they're showing signs of dehydration. (always check what the weather is doing). Root rot happens when the "leaves get wet and the roots stay dry." If the roots are absorbing water, this stops the leaves from absorbing water. Less chance of rot rot. And always make sure no contact between the leaves and the soil. Best to use some top dressings that doesn't hold moisture. Glazed pots are a no no unless you got good draining soil. A porous pot is better. Also hot days and high humidity spell disaster when succs got too much water because they'll boil and the plant melts and die.(keep dry in humid days) The propagated babies with roots I water everyday or two depending how dry the top soil gets. They can take in more water when they're young compared to the oldies.
Once they have roots, you can transplant them in their own soil. It's just a matter of managing the watering since baby plants requires frequent watering than mature plants.
There's no guarantee or a way "to be sure" that something will grow or not even if you 'TRY' to do everything right. Sedum jelly beans pup up quickly but if you soak them in water....they won't. Agavoides varies on the variety but can't be sure if all or none or some will pup up or not. 9:57 on the video or Miranda/Prolifera is an agavoides. One just have to wait and see.
I keep the soil as every time the grown babies get transplanted, there'll be less coco peat/coir; then I add more coco peat to top it up to grow the next batch.
Omg ! So interesting that your seasons are flip flopped from ours in the USA . I sometimes forget that other countries have different seasonal times than we do . It’s fascinating to me . I need to come to Australia right now ! Lol ! It’s winter here and cold . I’m not a fan . I go dormant in winter just like plants do 🤣
OMG!!! Did you know Australian clocks spin in the opposite direction as well? As spring approaches and you get your next oil change, make sure they put summer air in your tires. In Australia, they'll be putting winter air in their tires. Soooo fascinating!!!!
Hi Liz, I love watching your highly informative vidoes. Yesterday, I watched your show about the crushed granite vs decomposed granite. As you were showing, using decomposed granite was much more laborious than the product you were using. Would you suggest any other product equally good but which does not involve hard work as I am partly disabled. I would be so grateful to you if you can suggest an alternative. Thanks
May I suggest watching my video on Succulent Tropical Soil Mix. The ingredient for this can be easily obtain online. Good luck. SUCCULENT TROPICAL Master Soil Mix - ruclips.net/video/VpsrJBdg1yQ/видео.html
He he he ....you always make me giggle 😊😊😊 watching you tend your babies. You are a delight to them❤️❤️❤️ It’s getting really cold here in Texas (FallSeason) 15 - 20 C Daytime and 5 to 10 at night.... I haven’t move any of my succulents (majority on back patio and 25% are out by the fence with a manmade shade for them. What was your coldest temp you allowed your succulents to stay outside? Thanks Lizzy. Keep on and God Bless 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️
We're still cold here for Spring. Forecast for the week is wet and (Celsius) 20, 21, 17, for the next 3 days. The coldest temperature these babies have experienced was -11°Celcius or 12°Fahrenheit.
Hey liz I propagated a lilacina from leaf and it looks like its three heads (not 100 percent sure) it was doing great and had roots. I checked last night and looks like fungus gnat larvae ate the roots!! Do you think it will grow new ones? The mother leaf is getting kinda see thru now. Babies about the size of my finger nail. 😭🤯
I LoVVVVe what you said.... "A LOT of people talk, but the proof is in the pudding!" You could not have said it better! So-ooo many people say "Do it this way or do it that way" when it comes to propagating succulents (or even in regards to grow lights etc.! Yet, I don't see them posting videos of their actual "doing the things they say to do!" I absolutely LoVVVVe all of your videos, and especially ALL of your Gorgeous Succulents! God Bless You Liz❣️🌹 P.S. I have a bunch of Succulents however, I am definitely a novice & am wondering if you happen to have an email address where a person can reach you to ask advice regarding Succulents? Thank you, I appreciate it! 🙏🙌😇❤️ P.S.S I've seen other YT Vids of people using Succulent "Root Booster" they dip a Q-tip into the bottle then wipe it up & down the Succulent stems after leaves have been plucked off and, also using it to spray (mist) over propagating leaves. Have you ever used anything like this? If so, what brand would you recommend? Thank you again!! 🤗😊
Haven't used any root booster yet. RE advice on growing succulents...I get so many messages on Instagram that It's impossible for me to reply to all of them. I can answer your query better on pertinent videos. Thanks for watching and have great day!
Hi Liz, thank you for your informative videos! I'm a little confused with lavender pebble leaves and when to put them in soil. I was given 3 leaves. Two had tiny little roots so I rested them on soil and misted (the person who gave them to me told me to do that). One rotted and died :( The other leaf didn't rot and has 3 roots and still resting on soil. Should I take it out of the soil until it has more roots and pups? How often do you mist then once you put them in soil? Thank you so much for any help!
The only ones I mist/water(PREFER) are the ones that are rooted and have a pup. I never water/mist/wet them until the babies and roots pop out. Then I water my rooted baby lavender pebbles everyday since I grow them in coco peat until they're big enough to go into my master soil mix...then I water when the soil is dry or the pot is light.
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Thank you Liz :). No wonder my poor leaf died. So sad. I'll take your advice and leave the others well alone and wait for roots/pups!
how many ML(milliliter) of PowerFeed with how many liters of water for the leaves/baby propagation ? do you keep the Powerfeed max in the Sprayer Pump for a few days?
Hey Liz, I've been watching all your videos and I'm new to the plant family. I have two indoor grow lights and I don't think they are good. Can you let me know what light you use? Thanks
I'm also have issues with dormant leafs and rooting due to water on the leafs I'm propagating. I really want to be successful and I'm always stressed bc so many different people say so many different things on how to propagate
I use MarsHydro SP3000 in this video. I'm also now trialing a cheaper model which is the Mars Hydro FC 3000. Please take a look at my Grow Light Playlist for more info videos. Cheers
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK thank you Liz for all your helpful tips and love your videos. Thank you for the reference I'll check the playlist out. The mars grow lights seem a little expensive for my little indoor succulents right now. Definitely would he different if I had the ginormous collection you have lol. Cheers.

Hi Liz! Much love from California. USA! Do you have any content regarding Sedum Lucidum Obesum? “ Fat Lucy” grows in a column not more than 6 inches tall and is from Mexico. All the RUclips channels about it are in Spanish. Just wondering if you have this plant. Thanks!
I have featured them in a few videos but no specific titled video and I can't remember which ones it is. I will however be doing "future" videos of this plant. Cheers
Tita I envy you 😍.. I only have few succs and I love them so much. Mine are just the cheapest version of yours. The Peebles is one of my dream to have one day and the Romeo’s. Love you much 🌷
How long does it take for a leaf to put out roots or buds (whichever comes first)? I can never get mine to put out roots, and they just shrivel up on me after waiting for months.
Depends on the plant, the season/temperature and where you place it. Rule of thumb for me is to keep them where the mommy plant is and always propagate or harvest the leaves in their growing season. Different succulents have different dormancy period.
Hi Liz! My name is Brookie - I recently turned 16 in December and also live in Australia! I have grown a huge passion for growing succulents and have even started a small succulent business from home and hope to be a stallholder at a local market in the near future! I recently came across your channel and am so glad I did, I am learning so much from your videos! I am wanting to propagate some of my succulents from leaves however, I wanted to ask you a little question before I go any further! Would you suggest placing the calloused leaves on top of soil or in a cardboard container containing damp paper towel to root? Thankyou so much 🌼🥰🌸🌈
Thanks for watching Brookie. I wish you all the very best in your endeavor. The video below will hopefully answer your questions. Propagation Soil Mix | GSWLizK - ruclips.net/video/Q-XEjJFUGVI/видео.html
I started having much better luck with my pups surviving after i started watering the pots 3 times a week. Very small pots so they dry out quickly and those babies need lots of water to grow it seems. And they sure do if you make sure the soil doesn't stay dry too long
Thank you, Liz, for doing this one. I miss out visiting the babies when I was there😃! So many babies 👏 How do you decide using the soil or coco coir peat for growing the babies? The laughing sound effects is funny 😂 I would like to have some pink kerisa rosetto (spelling right?)if you are ready to sell. 🥰
Coco coir is best for babies as seen on the video. I only have a couple of Callisia Rosato left to propagate and it's going to take me all summer to do it. I'll save some for you when I do have new babies if you can wait that long.
I just love you 😍 you always cheer me up no matter ! Thank you for all of your amazing info you share because I'm a newbie & you're teaching me so much 😊 p.s. I love Pedro too !
I like watching your videos and I have learned a lot from it. Your succulent plants are awesome! Do you sell them? I’m interested to buy, can you ship it to New York?
How to water the tray , I have set same but whenever the soil is dry I mist / sprinkle / shower the water and water also falls on the leaf part and then the leaf is rotting and my 60% Succussive propagated leaf with baby is spoiling. Then I buy a injection syring and watering the upper part of the leaf where baby and root found but it is not comfortable. I m confused about watering Succussive propagated leaf in tray ...... please give me a suggestion. If it possible I can send you the pictures of my propagation tray through whatsapp chat. But it's not possible for yours end.
Leaf propagation has to have roots before you water them or they'll rot. Also, you have to give them lots of water so the roots absorb the water and not just the leaves. If you wet the leaves and thee roots are dry.....They will rot.
Moist is best for babies but not wet. Once they get watered, I always check every day to make sure that the soil doesn't dry up completely since I have them growing under a grow light.
Wish these tutorials could be found in a printed, illustrated version. Then I could review over and over again. Are there any and where can they be found
OMG,25 degrees is too hot here during summer from june-aug. as of today Nov.21,its raining and more than a week that we never get to see the sun. last night was -1 degree and today is 7 degree. I have my succulent outside my balcony for experiment together with the calanchoe calandiva...I am hoping it will survive for the next few days
This video has a lot of information you need. The unfortunate part is that you'll have to watch some of my other videos and can't rely on just this one video alone because there's so much more other information to answer your question. Thanks for watching.

You can pluck a leaf from an Echeveria Laui and wait for it to grow and sometimes when plucked in the wrong season can take a long time to germinate.
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK thank you for taking the time to reply - I understand no 123 is the same - appreciate you xoxo 🪴🙏🏼
They all are so amazing and beautiful have a blessed day
Everything you said is really good advice💖💖🙏 thank you, thank you, thank you ☺️
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Liz. You show a brown liquid that you mix with water and soak your dried heads of the succulents. What is that product? I can never see the label well. Thank you!
I use Seaweed base fertilizer and soil wetter.
Wow ang ganda ng propagation nio mom?
La felicito muy ermosas sus plantas muchas vendiciones
It’s amazing how beautiful they grow but what soil do you use to put the growing babies?
Once they're grown out of the propagating soil, I put them in my "Advance soil mix" to further hasten their growth or "Master Soil Mix" for the diva/temperamental ones.
Hi Liz! My succulents have been growing like crazy because of your videos. I know you said you water your leaves daily, (which I do!) But I'm wondering if you have any expertise information you could help me with. I'm wondering at what size should you start to water them less? What do you recommend for watering on your adult succulents?
It all depends on your soil type, the plant and where it's planted. Rule of thumb is to let the soil dry up before watering again.
Wow successful propagation through leaves Ma'am Lizk 😊
Yes, thanks Donabella. They grow fast under the grow light.
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Thanks too Maam Lizk!
You really know what you are talking about and also too funny. Yes I do like it.
Do you just use a sharpie to write on leaves? Or diff type of marker?
Fine tip Sharpie works best for me.
What lighting conditions should you put fresh cuttings in? Unsure if I should put under grow light straight away. Also should I put a cover over to increase humidity or will it rot them?
May I suggest watching the video below to better answer your question.

You're most welcome Lyn and thanks for watching.
Pedro is such a cheeky boy!!

Oh.. It's the bird?
It’s 12:30am and I might just get up and fertilize my babies 😁 thank you for that tip. I’m wondering why the pink/yellow beauty 18:36 would die if you removed it now?
The yellow plant has very little or no chlorophyll and therefore cannot photosynthesize. It needs other plants to absorb energy for food.
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Oh, right! I learned that from you. And forgot 🤣
Thank you Liz for very informative useful Vedio, avid fan here from Melbourne 😘😊
Glad it was helpful!
Will do a video Lisa. Too long to explain here.
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Bless your heart!
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK thank you very much it’s very helpful. I’ll try the light method.
Love to watch your videos. How many times would you water your propagation? Do you spray water on them?
All the information are shown in this video.
So helpful: If bottom soil is dry, roots will reach up!
That's why it's best to just half bottom water the pot if you want to encourage the roots to reach or go down.
Nakakatuwa po ang daming nag success sa leaf propagations nio Mam Liz💗 mas ok po ba na sa tissue or cardboard muna ilagay kapag wala pa pong ugat ang leaf?
Also hot days and high humidity spell disaster when succs got too much water because they'll boil and the plant melts and die.(keep dry in humid days)
The propagated babies with roots I water everyday or two depending how dry the top soil gets. They can take in more water when they're young compared to the oldies.
Great information! I’ll print this for reference. Thank you so much for taking the time!
@@jenn08carter My pleasure Jennifer. We're getting into summer soon (high humidity) so the up coming videos might be of use to you.
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK great! I’m excited to see them!
Love your videos LizK! I see you have beautiful leaves with nice babies in coconut coir. How long do you wait to plant them in their own pots?
Once they have roots, you can transplant them in their own soil. It's just a matter of managing the watering since baby plants requires frequent watering than mature plants.
I love watching your videos ☺️ helps me a lot.thank you .
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching.
I love hearing all your tips and tricks for propagating. I'm trying, but I'm losing some too
If I have a dollar for every plant I've killed....I'll be a very rich woman.
This is one lovely video✨ but how do you make sure it pups tho especially sedum jelly beans and echeveria agavoides
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK oh OK thanks liz😊
Hello. When using coco noir, do you change the soil everytime? Do you also use it as regular potting soil for succulents? Thank you.

P.S.S I've seen other YT Vids of people using Succulent
"Root Booster" they dip a Q-tip into the bottle then wipe it up & down the Succulent stems after leaves have been plucked off and, also using it to spray (mist) over propagating leaves.

What time of year is best for this.??
Depends on the specific species or variety of plants. But for the most part, if grown indoors, one can grow them all year round.
Liz, you can't make a video too long!!😁
Should we keep soul moist or dry
Moist is best for babies but not wet. Once they get watered, I always check every day to make sure that the soil doesn't dry up completely since I have them growing under a grow light.
