It's a 1920x1080 IPS travel display, read all the details and find the shopping links in the full review article.
After waiting 19 minutes. . . finally! You put the monitors in the correct configuration
I have one of these coming. I'm a software and website developer who is getting into mobile app development as well and I am moving into a custom high top camper van as part of my plan to hit the road and travel while I work. Between my Dell XPS 15 9570, Bose QC35 II headphones and this new display, i'll have quite the perfect mobile office solution. I noticed that your Dell Precision looks very much like my XPS. It seems that Dell uses similar or same chassis for the machines. Thank you for your review, i look forward to having this thing soon.
Ummmm dude! Am I watching a home made tech review or a professional voice over to the PGA tour lol. Awesome voice over with informative and pertinent info, I'm buying one today because of your review!
Thanks for making this video. Very informative and giving an idea firsthand experience walking through!
thank you for making the video and all the details
now plan to get this
I had internal and Asuz tech support trying to get my screen to work. Neither could work out what the problem was.. power worked.. drivers installed and repeated but no joy. Best I got was it to flick on and off.
Hello, Paul! Nice video!
I'm planning on buying a portable monitor. Between these two, wich one you like best, this ZenScreen or the other model, the MB169C+?
I've watched booth videos, and image quality seems to be the same. I did like that Zen Screen magnetic case better... But is it worth the higher price?
Thanks!

Awesome product niche, thanks for the review.
Hmm for my new trading setup ☺️
Looking at getting a touch version
it is work only like second monitor? or it is possible to coonect like main one?
Nice video. Wonder if it works with DisplayPort instead of USB-A or USB-C?
Hey paul, how is the monitor working after using it for more than 1 year? I would like to buy one but I am worry about the time life of these products.
Hello.
ASUS notes "adapters" for old devices in the FAQ.
Where can we find such "adapters".
I imagine a Y-cable with USB-A plug for a usual 3.1-socket (for energy and data) and a dp plug for the video signal from my graphic card.
Combined to a USB-C with DP and "Alternative Mode". I think, it does not need active electronic, only a passive Y-cable.
What do we have to search for?
Are there cheap adapters from China on Ebay, Amazon etc. :-)?
long cables, or only small adapters.
I could install a small adapter in the computer case.
Route the DP cable out to the graphics card and insert the USB C end into the chassis wall. Tapping USB3.1 internally.
Nice review. The brightness of the screen, do you think it is sufficient? Did you noticed any lag?
No perceptible lag, and only slightly dimmer than my hi -end laptop (that was was on the max brightness). It’s been good!
How did you get the 2nd monitor to display the time and date like the primary? I have two monitor set up on my desktop PC and it will only show time and date on one taskbar and not the other. I have it set on extend right now...
So, is all the pen is for is to prop up the display? You should think about showing how the pen would or could be used. Does the display support active pen and is the pen an active pen. Does the pen support MPP?
It's just a pen, but it can support the display when pushed through that hole, but not very steadily. Yeah, I should have shown that. It's also just a pen, not a stylus, and the screen isn't touchscreen. ASUS has many newer models of portable travel monitors, but I'd stick with models that have no battery, so you just plug them in to USB C only and they power right up, for a minimum of fuss. This monitor is still available apparently, that's a long run for any product.
Thanks for the reply!
@Paul Braren : hey man, please try connecting it to the Type A USB port and check up on your CPU peak? I have a computer without TypeC so I hook my MB16AC to USB 3.0 port. And I noticed that every time something is moved on the Zenscreen, my CPU gets thrashed by the Windows Driver Foundation... service. Up to 40% sometimes.
Could you please try and let me know if it's the same on your laptopl?
Did you solve the auto rotate issue? I've just received mine and does not rotate as well. If you solved, how did you do it? Thks
my Acer nitro dont support this screen... annoying why it has to difficult about it..hunting for ideas of how to fix this problem...
How do you install driver updates?
So, how would it work if I were watching a movie? Does this screen have speakers, or would I be using the laptops?
Hi - any idea how I would attach 2 of these? I only have 1 x C-port on my Dell XPS 15 - thanks
It comes with a USB C to A adapter so if it has another USB A port, you can connect one to the type C and the other to the type A
if you have a usb c hub, or you can connnet one via usb c and one via display port?
thunderbolt hub?
The "stand" is a case, how can this be a review if you can't even identify all the components?
Bought!
do you know how to enable the function auto rotate? I did on the menu but it doesn't work....where am I wrong? I have a Mac book pro
mine auto rotate doesn't work also, even the setting is on. I been searching around and havent found a solution. Have yours got fixed?
@@raeli974 no :-(
i watched a couple videos about these asus monitors, i wonder that is the monitor work with mac mini?
Yes. I'm running one with a 2018 mini.
I tested it with mac mini 2014 yesterday. It works with the usb-a adapter after you install the driver.
Does it work with Xbox series s?
Is it possible to use this monitor with the laptop closed? Thanks.
Yes, if the laptop is still powered up it works like that just fine.
Could the brightness on the ASUS have been sharpened?
Nevermind, you answered in 21 min.
brightness looks terrible
you need to prepair next time before starting a new video....., you really needed much time to figure out how the stand/case works and second trying to connect without powering on the device also not so smart but howevr at the end you did it with cable, fzi you also have option to connect via WiFi. So you can put away that C - Cable.
Which laptop is that one?
Dell Precision 5520.
I thought he was joking about the pen being used as a stand. I thought the pen was just a little gift until I read the instructions dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/LCD%20Monitors/MB16AC/ASUS_MB16AC_English_20170519.pdf?_ga=2.101176265.953884304.1583931176-411922198.1583931176 what company gives you an option of using a pen as a stand. Lol
screen no need power ?
screen gets power over usb type c. It also has built in battery.
@@varde6965 The model reviewed has no built-in battery.
no joke, fell asleep watching
U need more practice to the cover. But maybe ths time u already figured it out.
Hope you sussed out you need this to rotate with windows .....

Even when you got the cheat sheet, you couldn't get the stand/cover right. My brain started to itch by the fact that you continued with the cover/stand falsely mounted... so I had to stop watching the video, vote it down, and write this coment. I dont know what was worse? the fombelig or the fact you didn't cut it out of the video.... although someone with your folding skills, should not try to cut anything..
So all in all: a nice, cosy and informative video. And yeah I will buy one of those screens i guess :)
Constructive feedback is always appreciated, albeit sharply worded. I create far more video than I ever have time to edit/produce. In the end, I did redeem myself somewhat, showing viewers how fast and simple set up and fold up really is. If you decided to buy, I hope you considered using the affiliate link from a more worthy unboxer.
@Porsche Economist Thank you for the moral support, people like you make the internet nicer!
how the fuck did they miss the memo on using this thing on any hdmi device ?????????????????????

Too low energy. Hype yourself up, sound over enthusiastic, get some music.
Why does a good company like Asus did make such an awful portable screen. I could not send it back to the shop. Now i need to sell it second hand. Overall it is ok but the brightness. The brightness is horrible low. Is it designed by a gay Asian dude while he had his break in a darkroom? There is a world actually out there where you have to squeeze your eyelids a bit bc of the incoming sunlight. Even in the kitchen with the curtains closed it is not useable. Talking about that Asian dude. Me too feel a bit screwed.
So for desktop work it is a zero. Not a 2 or a 1 but 0.
Tried a movie. John Wick. Due to the low brightnes it is definitly not a screen for watching movies. So what the hell can it do?
I really respect other people who feel a need to stick bodyparts in holes that initiatly is not designed for that function but that Asian dude is probably a sensitive guy, photosensitive. Or he is a member to the Nosferatu.
So to all who are thinking about buying a portable monitor from Asus.Their are better ones out there. Weichensi,15.6 inch,4k and touch screen. The brightness almost is compareble to a normal desktop monitor. And less expensive. Wimaxit is also ok but they are 1080p. 15.6 inch isn't that big so 1080p will mostly do but on the other hand it is portable and you can slide it towards you for getting a crispier vieuw.
