Now the angry guy has a better high-grade version of his gundam and all we had to do was wait 20 years for a movie to come out for him to actually get that better version lol. At least when it comes to the engineering and the articulation and the building process it's great but some parts are a little often off like the lack of part separation for the backpack and some looseness in very very specific parts but hey at least it doesn't feel like a brick like the old mobile suit was back then and it shows off the advancement of what would happen when we wait 20 years and we get a mobile suit that actually needed that engineering. All in all another fantastic seed freedom model kit review!
At least it looks great on the surface and is mobile, I'll give it that. Still doesn't really change the fact that it feels mixed to me, but I'm glad you like the video

personally, as a straight builder, I honestly kinda prefer that the thrusters are the same colour vs one being grey (still need to colour the inside) and the other being purple. I rather cohesion than Now why they aren't both grey is a separate question (and/or articulated), it would be def doable on the rifle's runners if we're talking about the potential regular duel separate release (could even put it in the middle since the rifle shares the runner with the claw, and black and grey is much better than purple and grey imo). So shame there.
This Duel Gundam looks pretty impressive. As someone who only built the MG, this looks fun to display in its base form, though I wonder if I should hold off and wait to see how the new Buster holds up
This kit is solid, but mixed. I'm not holding out hope for the Buster to be smooth either, as it seems to be using the old HG color scheme, which is inaccurate
This feels like a wholesome mashup (or cross compatible) suits just like Strike+Freedom so Duel+Blitz. * imagines Duel Buster, Justice Freedom, Strike Destiny ah so many Seed suits list * Blitz weapons aside, the Assault Shroud armor molds very close resemblance to Blitz like the few black parts, the leg armor and front skirts.
Very nice kit, and glad they improved a bit in the past 20 years... I only have the Char's Gelgoog and the new Gelgoog Menace for similarly aged comparisons and boy is the Menace better in every regard.
I mean, the Menace is more of a reimagining than a straight remake of an older kit. The Duel was literally remade from the ground up, and it paid off for the most part here

I mean with a runtime of 2 hours, even main suits like the Rising Freedom and Mighty Strike Freedom barely got 15 mins of screen time combined so the mere seconds we got for the duel and buster is already a lot comparatively speaking
I really like it, the armor gimmick kinda reminds me of the Core Gundam ( and I really love the Core Gundam and all its variants ) But the Duel wo armor looks pretty good too.
It's more a Gundam Alex riff than a Core Gundam reference. One thing good about this update though, the kit looks good either way, on a fundamental level

By using a panel lining marker. I know, it's inadvisable to do so, but if you're hand-painting with a fine-tip brush, that's pretty much the same as doing it with a marker
Base Duel is really beautiful. RX-78-2 with Zeta Gundam aesthetics. But with the Blitz parts, it looks meh.. it has some cheap kitbash feeling and not a clean look like the Blu Duel. Thank you MJ for the review, I will buy this kit when I can find it someday for around 20 bucks. Just for the Duel itself.
Another great review. While I agree bandai could’ve done better on color separation I do think the hgce duel blitz is a great kit (I built mine 2 days ago).
Depends on how you look at it and how much you can tolerate. If you don't mind the missing paint apps they could've easily made out of plastic, then you'd like the rest of what it has to offer untainted.
I just see this as an updated HGCE Duel Gundam with updated joints and new parts... So it's no surprised that this may fare a bit lower than the other SEED Freedom kits.

I don't quite like shape of the weapon racks on the shoulders. I understand why they went that way, but i think they're gonna look quite off in some more dynamic poses.

If you want the long version, HLJ failed to fill my order for 3 months, so I bought it when I got my duplicate IJ Type II. However, I was burnt out from doing any heavy painting projects (since the GYAN Strom needed it), had uni work to worry about, and am close to the end of my dorm lease that I cannot afford investing time to lengthy builds. Meanwhile, my opinions on the kit only got lower and lower the more I went into the build, to the point where I just placed this kit on the back burner.
As far as the Duel Blitz goes, no. Though, with how tailor-made the SEED Action System structure is, can't really hurt to try out the rest. Though I have no guarantees that it'll work for any of the kits

Considering they might have the guts to leave in spare Lancer Darts, it could be donation for the pathetic excuse that is the HG Gold Frame Amatsu Mina. And because there are still open gates with nothing to connect into, I'm afraid your guess of the original Assault Shroud being P-Bandai is bound to be correct. On an extra note, getting the Duel's bazooka is a pain because you have to buy what is basically a dead stock kit in the present day, the P-Bandai HG Gundam Astray Gold Frame. Fortunately, this sucker is using the updated Astray mold that is skirting between par for the course and still needs improvement.
No. Not unless there are some more internal upgrades that we don't know of. Think of it this way, Exia (was damaged I know) struggled to keep up with the GN-X III and Ahead, and only with a state-of-the-art internal overhaul did it prove viable for deployment in S2. If the Duel only had an upgraded power source and nothing else, it'll still be as sluggish as before.
My only nitpicking is that the duel blitz didnt copy Blitz Offensive shield system, it such a icon weapon design but then i understand why it wasnt implement lore wise
those big shoulder armor offers absolutely 0 offensive capability and even interferes with posing capability, the shoulder armor feels inferior to the original Duel itself. heck feels like this isn't even an upgrade since the only thing that is different is the assault shroud. the only reason they called this Blitz duel is becaues of its grappling hook and harpoon missiles which wasn't even the main gimick of the Blitz. that thing was a stealth MS and the duel with the assault shroud is 100% not for stealth combat.
The shoulder armor is the biggest hindrance of the kit for sure. And while I do understand that the Blitz's signature is the Mirage Colloid System, how much thought would you have expected them to put into this and the Lightning Buster when all they are is the equivalent of the Illuminati from Dr Strange MoM? No thought is what I'd say. So long as they look the part, who cares if they'd function the same or have the same ring to them?

The darts are too large for the Amatsu Mina, but I don't mind having those left over. As for the rest, they're gonna make you pay for it, dearly

i feel like the weapons containers are waay too big for how little stuff it actually holds. the orange part dont even opens up or contain a missile
