The backpack combining with the mace feels like an upscaled version of those "combos" you can do with SD EX-Standard kits. Speaking of SD I will scream if we end up with Lupus in MGSD and not MG because holy crap MG Barbatos was back in 2019, 5 years and still no other MG IBO Gundam.
making MGs is so anathema to Bandai at this point that we've gotten just 2 new ones in as many years. It's Zeta VerKa, and Narrative. All the others have been either updates ie Sinanju Stein, or PBandai offerings like F90 and its accoutrements. It's sad to see the line go fallow like this, but HG and RG make Bandai so much money that I guess they just don't care. At least with the Pbandai MG exclusives like the F90 it feels like there's a ton of love and care put into the design, it just sucks its relegated to such an annoying-to-get product line.
I am picking this up, this is one of my favorite Baratos forms. I don't care that the model isn't great. I plan to paint it anyway so its not a huge issue.

Little builders note what works well for stiffening up those handholds with the cylindrical handles toilet paper I used it in my Demi trainers hand with a knife, hold onto it perfectly toilet paper it can be easily removed, and it doesn’t require any glue of any kind works wonders
I do love the cheeky references between the iron blooded orphan name, One of the form names is literally a cheeky version of what 1 of Barbatos's forms is and that the new backpack is basically a cute small version of the mobile armor monster that was in the actual anime. However the huge backpack mixed in with the gundam frame still being a problem even after all these years later really make it feel like that it's more better as a statue rather than an actual playable kit just like the metallic version which I don't know which is worse. But at least you get to build the original Barbatos lupus but in cool red colors so that's a plus.
Say what you will about GBM, they really do have intresting remakes of established Gundams. One of the many reasons why I am patiently waiting for GB4.
I absolutely loved this kit. Hit the inner frame with some metallic black gundam markers and it seemed to stiffen it up a lil bit. Might even top coat it too. Looks amazing on the shelf but not a play kit whatsoever. I just keep it in the dai-jyu form. Looks good next to my other barbatos variants
In my years of building, my biggest, most frustrating experience has been when I started building a few of the ibo kits. The waist. It's the bane of the line. Ironically both Of the astaroths have been my favorites and have not given me those issues. And slowly I've steered away from ibo kits. Now, I've seen the customs and things done to fix the issues and those I appreciate in that extra effort. I expected this red to be darker btw
Tbh I feel like you should have topcoated the frame before putting it together, regardless of the backlog, and tightened up the new parts. While I get you need to get content out and clear space up for new kits, putting in extra effort makes life so much easier in the long run since it prevents almost every single issue you’re having with yours

To fix the looseness of ibo kits you should thicken the inside of the polycaps rather than thickening the ball joints... Thickening the ball joints will just stretch out the polycaps and make it loose again in the future
I'm really a big fan of the DSPIAE joint strengthening pen. I always use it for any joint at all that seems a bit loose and I love it. Most useful tool other than my nipper and hobby knife in my opinion.
Hell yeah, the Dspiae Joint Strengthening Pen is now a staple here in the Phillipines. MechaGaikotsu could have made a video testing it in most of his IBO collection but backlog
The backpack made me think of the HGBD:R Aun Rize armour initially. Mostly the claw arms gimmick. Might be fun to slap one of those on a normal Barbie-Lu... 🤣
this Meijin Kawaguchi custom of the Barbatos implies that instead of just salvaging the Hashmal's tail they straight up repurpose the entire body and turn it into a drone, the Hashmal became the Barbatos' b*tch, lol.
Sadly i'm not a fan of the red main color, especially with the unchanged navy and yellow parts. But i'm still tempted to get this kit just for the new devil-looking shoulder armor and cool new v-fin to kitbash all of barbatoses variants
I agree with the flimsiness of barbies but this barbies awesome and i think it's good for custom painting . My first gundam sd 00 diver and 2 other gundam after my 2nd build (mg providence) was brave for 2nd ever gundam build but i definitely wasn't painting that, my 3rd build was the white and grey zaku 2 , i painted it with matt khaki and weathered it. I think it looks good was proud of myself as id only just started to learn how to airbrush
I'm glad I pick up narrative c packs MG over this one, initially I want this amazing barbatos but it takes a long time to release. I've dealth with loose joint issues and it would be a disaster to have that with a kit that have so many weapon option.
I don't care that much if the Core lupus is floppy, I just want the parts on this one to mod other kits into a Guren Facsimile. Yeah, we have the Seiten kit from last year, but I have a minor fixation of figuring out proper successor machines to Gode Geass' best Knightmare that ISN'T the absolute trashfire that is the type special. Something that appropriately fits with the Wing Zero Rebellion.
As I remember you can swap the cover of the option set hands, but what i don´t know is if those fit well or loose on lupus... I ordered three sets so I hope it fit
The one and only thing i don't care for on this kit is the lil amount or even shade of blue or where its all centrally placed. Dont quite work with all the red.

This really makes me feel for the character in the show who's supposed to have actually built this custom. Imagine the blood, sweat, and tears that had to go into building his dream Barbatos on top of such an awfully-designed kit! Good thing he only has to use it in the freaking metaverse, otherwise it'd be falling apart in the middle of the battlefield.
Tbh... I can fix this thing. It might sound sacriligious, but I sometimes topcoat both sides of the runners with ibo kits to compensate for their looseness. And that includes polycaps. It works suprisingly well, however there are some parts that shouldn't be topcoated under any circumstance. Parts such as the drum-style leg joints or lupus rexes shoulders and hands. Granted, some parts will become nigh-impossible to take apart again. However it is so worth it.

well, you'll be happy to know that we're getting the Vidar as an MG. So, MGIBO isn't dead, likely was just delayed because of the 'Rona.

Some dark drey panels lining and a nice satin top coat to knock down some of the texture issues with the red plastic and it'll look amazing.

6:50 No need to use balancer for erasing the marker, just use q-tip with isopropyl alcohol.
