  • Welcome to Four Palms Bay, a brand-new, fully-modded, interactive, tropical build! This build will be streamed live on Twitch, with videos edited down after the fact for those that prefer an edited viewing experience. In addition, I'll provide all of the saves from the build on Paradox Mods.
In this episode, we'll focus on founding a city along an old rail line. We'll build all the infrastructure associated with the rail line, as well as a custom train station. We'll also ensure that our citizens have a place to work and build a forestry industry and a small industrial park.
    Enjoy!

As much as I was hoping that it'd be feasible to make this an on-going series, issues during the stream (and the length) have made the stream recaps an impossibility. Instead, we'll be launching a new video-only series in the Verde Beach universe after the Economy 2.0 patch drops. Four Palms Bay continues, but only on stream.

interestingly enough, Colossal Order's first game, Cities in Motion, starts in the 1920s and ends in the 2020s, and imo really captures how cities developed in that time and how it impacted public transportation. other games that kinda come close are Transport Fever 1 and 2 which takes place between 1850 and the present and Locomotion which takes place between 1900 and the present. Both are also transport tycoon type games that focus on transit rather than city building.

I appreciate the condensed version. I do not have the time available for a whole stream so getting to catch up like this keeps me in the loop. It also allows those who saw the stream to get to review what you have done for playing on the saved map. That said, I appreciate how much editing it takes to get down to just this.

Hey CPP I love your videos and I would just like to say that I myself struggle for time and interest in the streams, absolutely no issues on your part imo its just that the content where a big emphasis is on interacting with the chat and then playing the game as a secondary focus is just simply not the type of content im looking for. Now I say this specifically because I wanna tell you I love the idea of making condensed videos out of the streams, it really is a fantastic way to combine your stream and non-stream viewers and I really think you should keep it up!
Thanks for the awesome content again!

Much better than just uploading a stream. Most of the appeal of a stream is interaction with the streamer, and everyone who misses the streams misses out on the interaction, all the "hey chat, [...]" is just a constant reminder of missing out, but highlights don't have that problem (as much).

Julio Cortázar was born in Belgium while his parents were there. Several years later they moved back to Argentina where he grew up. Cortázar then traveled around the world and spent quite a bit of time in Paris. At the age of 38, he had a hopscotch history in politics, in Argentina. He and his family recently left Argentina, and moved to Four Palms Bay, in hopes for a better future. His ideas of Equality and creating jobs, may not have been successful, but now, here in Four Palms Bay, he hopes to run for Mayor of this new, up and coming region. He predicts a great future for the city. Will he succeed? Only time will tell. Regardless if his rise in politics will be a fruitful one, he is happy he moved his family here. His teenage daughter may not be a fan, as she had to leave her school and friends back in Argentina, but He and his wife Maria are hopeful for the future.

Love your content, EP 1 Verde Beacher here and honestly I have this format a shot but couldn’t get into it. Having the cut down version of the stream I think misses the soul of your content in a way which to me is the tangents, insights into city planning, and sometimes (lovably) myopic focus on small details.

Compared to the full episode you made quite a while ago, this format is almost as interesting. The way you have done it for the last two years seems to me to be working well. This was a bit stressful. Been waiting for a continuation of this. Personally, I strive to create societies that produce something from the raw materials that exist in a profitable way without it needing to develop into a large city with public communication, centralized resources, the need for everyone to be university educated and high taxes. A bit what you did in CS 1 with the last series .... bay. Finds it more difficult in CS2 as it currently is. Can you make it?

@CityPlannerPlays I like the live builds. I think getting real-time feedback is more engaging. Even if I watch on YT afterwards it is still interesting to see how the community offers suggestions during. Then you can squeeze out additional content exclusively for the live stream content. Say for example, "After Hours" where you record refinements or changes to ad-hoc elements of the build made during the live stream.

I strongly prefer videos. This isn't a slight, but your style is very different when you're live vs when when you record. Maybe it's because I grew up with old school Let's Plays, rather than modern streamers. I watched people like Chuggaconroy or yourself, who do games at extremely high levels showing viewers everything there is to see. All with well planned out episodes. I really enjoy that style of informative fun.
Streaming always feels different. It's not planned, a lot of the conversation is CONVERSATION, often with people in the chat. As I often listen to or half watch YT videos on my second scream while gaming myself, I don't like listening to half a conversation.
And while I have absolutely nothing against it, I don't follow RUclipsrs for their personal lives. I don't need to know how much fun so and so had at his kid's 3rd birthday. I'm not interested in talking about if people did their taxes yet. I don't want to have a 20 minute tangential debate on sports teams I know nothing about. But these sorts of things are often talked about in streams. And I want to stress there's NOTHING wrong with that. But it's not what I'm looking for.

Train station without any place to sit under shade 😢, also without little station shops like a bookstore. Still loved the video ♥️

If you place assets with the line tool, they will all be the same colour

Have you had a look at the rail station asset that has 3 tracks and includes road/highway connections? I am a little nervous adding assets like these to my city. I suppose I may have to make a dedicated back up and just go for it...

at 0:52 you say the streams are at 8:00 PM CST... Just curious if you actually mean CST or you mean CDT? Most of north America is on daylight time rn. Saskatchewan is on CST or UTC-6 year round but here in Manitoba its CDT or UTC-5. I keep missing the start of the streams so want to have it right lol
