Awesome - Explained well. This is exactly what is going on with my bike. Except the left front stays on (no blinking) and the left rear flashes normal and then fast. I think we have found our problem.

Hi, I'm assuming battery and bulb are good. I'm really not qualified to answer. Try a Harley parts man. Maybe it's the turn signal security module? They sell a softail electrical diagnostic manual. It depends on carb or efi. It's tied into the security system and can be quite complicated. Check for good grounds. Good luck, ride safe.

Mine works only if I hold them on it won't stay on 97 Heritage
That's the way they work. They don't want you going down the road with your blinker on.
