She doesn’t like any science though. It’s also a lot of moving pieces.
We are doing this one too for the next school year! So excited because this will be our first year using REAL Science Odyssey. We are using the 1st edition (because I found it on eBay for about half price). I look forward to hearing your daughter's experience with it.
Hi from IL! We love RSO and I used Bio level 2 with my 9th grader and is doing great with it, and I love how easy it is to plan from a 2 day plan to a 5 day. We’ve mostly done the 5 day plan. The Famous Science Series is great too and makes them do research on that scientist every week. The labs are fun and thorough. And side note, we are starting MCT for language arts in our homeschool for all 3 of our kids (level 1, 2, 5). Thank you for the video on those too, they are so helpful!! ♥️ love your channel! 😊
Aw thank you! The “Famous Science Series” is a research assignment each week within RSO Biology 2. You can see a couple of examples as I flip through the student workbook; the first is the page on Polio.
@@maggiepanning356 yes, they call it FSS for short. It’s in the student book, questions regarding a famous scientist or something pertaining to what they are learning in that lesson for the week. It requires research and they have a recommended book list for each lesson that they can use and/or they can go online and look up info. 👍
Do you do all/most of the labs in RSO? I have looked at RSO (the lower levels) many times but I am always scared away by how many labs it looks like it contains. I just always feel like many labs given to kids are so wasteful of materials. What is your opinion on this?
Yes, I do every lab (or we have thus far anyway). That’s hard because although I am generally environmentally-conscious, I find so much value in hands on learning to reinforce book knowledge. I don’t consider it wasteful at all if it brings concepts to life and cements them in their minds.
I have not used this yet; my 6th grader and I will be working through Biology 2 this coming school year. Flipping through it, though, I would not want to have to figure out answers to quizzes and things on my own. I love science, but my degree is in Early Childhood 😆 I’ll be sure to update later on!
That question made me pause when considering their level 2 courses. I know they have plans to finish out the level 2 line up, but info on that has been pretty much nil for the last couple of years. For next year we were between either RSO Biology or Oak Meadow Life Science (I think it was grade 6 or 7 science). If we have to leave RSO later on, I’ll probably look at Oak Meadow again or we may try Conceptual Academy.
