I really appreciate the in depth reviews because you do take your time to do it well and also tackle subjects many others videos avoid or just skim the surface on.

Thank you! It gets harder in upper grades too, more to digest and examine ♥️

OpenSciEd has managed to do something I never thought possible. It has made me hate teaching science. 3 years in and fortunately my school is finally switching to a better program.

@@drsch I’m sorry to hear about your experience. In a homeschool setting, we don't have the same limitations as a classroom and can adapt the materials to better fit our needs while integrating them with other resources. I hope the new program you switch to works better for you and your students.

Also, for materials, people can talk to their local libraries. Many libraries have kits. We can check out microscopes at ours and I bet if I requested a kit with basic science supplies like beakers, etc, they would probably get it for me to check out.

This was incredibly helpful in making sense of OpenSciEd!! When I peeked at it a while back they did not have Unit Webinars or that integration with Google Classroom. Those two things right there make a HUGE difference. Thank you!

My pleasure. And at least this is something you can test out without investing money in it. Well besides supplies. Let me know if you try it ♥️

Thanks so much for this detailed review!!!! I love it for middle school. I’m wondering about high school. Will it be “lab based” enough to count for the science credits needed to graduate? I may just be holding on to the way we did things in public school when I was in HS. Is it essential to do the normal bio class where you dissect something?

Glad it helped! The high school courses are just rolling out as of last month . I can tell you that this program so far is lab heavy and used in public schools, meeting the standards. That being said , you can always add more specific labs if it turns out they don’t include live dissections like you grew up with. Several homeschool providers sell kits with detailed instructions. That’s an easy add on, we have done that (I’m a nurse, so it was happening lol). But since all the levels of high school are not out yet, I’m not sure which direction they’re going in terms of lab. Also, make sure to check your state’s requirements, some have specific requirements to count for that 0.5 credit.
