Love all this info!! Great ideas. We tried using this curriculum last year and gave up. This year we are using BYL level 3 which includes some light chemistry-you’ve given me some great ideas about how to go back and use this curriculum to beef it up. I wonder if the booklist for BYL 3 might be helpful for you? I haven’t gotten very far yet but we did really like How To Think Like A Scientist, which is all about the scientific method. Looking forward to your updates!

Oh, I'll have to check out that book and the BYL level 3 booklist. Thank you! I really want to like the RSO curriculums, but have struggled in the past too, so hopefully we can make this work!

I am also going to use RSO Chemistry this year with my 2nd and 5th graders. I was thinking of also using Science Mom along side. She has the kids make trading cards for each element - might be more fun than making an element book.

Oh, that's a really good idea. Thanks! I hope you all have fun!

I think I’m going to have them (3rd &5th also) make a power point for all of the elements. Maybe a week of lessons on power point before.

That's a great idea! And they get an additional skill in the process! Homeschool parents are brilliant! ;)

The amount of labs scare me. I don't know if I will be able to run this. I'm tired of searching for a secular science.

I completely understand! I have actually skipped most of the labs... I have done a few, but they can be a lot, and I feel like we are still learning the material without them. Finding secular homeschool science curriculum is definitely tricky.
