Shark and Roomba are pioneers in the auto-empty robot vacuum space. So I've put these robots through a grueling series of tests to find out which is the best option for your needs.
The Roomba S9+ still is the best option, with its best-in-class cleaning performance. But this model is very expensive and the max power setting eats into the run time (45 mins).
If the S9+ is too expensive, your next best option for carpet would be the Roomba I6+. It doesn't clean as well as the S9+, but the difference isn't significant and it's cheaper.
The Shark IQ is intriguing because of its low cost and bagless system. But I feel the app is lacking in features and the navigation lacks thoroughness.

_"Development took more than a decade."_ lol knowing iRobot, it was the sudden rush of new vastly cheaper competitors in the mid 2010s that lit a fire under their rears.
    Great video regardless.

That's probably true, but I cover more of their history in another video hopefully.

need to learn to equalize the pings, bongs, and bells to be quieter than your voice. its impossible to hear your muffled voice and then BAM loud bell sound

I have to admit the shark sucks I have the shark now and I had the Roomba before the Roomba did straight nice lines cleaned the whole house the shark bounces from wall to wall and you have to put it in the room you want it to go to I find it very annoying Roomba has won this one for me

My Shark IQ mapping worked great for awhile, but then I could never get it to only clean certain rooms. The vacuum itself works great, just not the navigation. Sad. Wish I would've gone with Roomba.

we got the new vacmop model. does part of one room then leaves and does other stuff then comes back, does a little more goes somewhere else. would help battery life if it did one room at a time. lol
