I have always given VW a hard time about being too "pro Shark", but I've had a Shark robot vacuum and the Roomba i8, and must say, for the price, the Shark was a good value. It was the original model with the self-emptying bin and it took forever to map the house, but once it got it down, it did a fine job. The Roomba unit felt of higher quality, but that cheap Shark performed better in my house. The matrix feature seems like a good idea. I wish my current mopping vacuum would do that.
I’d like to see you add the filtration category like you do for larger vacuums. Whether or not the robot is sealed hepa grade matters.

Thank you for another great robovac video! Is it possible to have a new robovac category: bagless autoempty bin? It’s quite hard to find a list of all robovacs with bagless autoempty bins
It would be super cool to see an auto empty dock- like the Roborock 8 max ultra whatever- and have it also be an air purifier. The Roborock already has the mop during thing so that might be able to go backwards and through a filter for air cleaning.
Air goes from the output of the drying thing through the fan then filters to your house air.
I own an older Shark model that has the mapping feature. You mentioned the matrix mode can only be used for spot cleaning, which isn't exactly right. If i select only one room to clean, I have the regular cleaning option or the option for a Matrix Clean.
And as you said its great to use for heavy traffic areas, like the foyer.

This Shark series 2300 come in 5 different model for the self emptying robot.
1. RV2300S: 30 days self empty base capacity.
2. RV2320S: 30 days.
3. RV2310AE: 45 days.
4. AV2310AE:45 days
5. UR2350AE: 60 days.
Price is almost the same, but depending on which seller you bought from.
Sam’s Club version, UR2350AE is grey color and come with biggest base.
Costco now has another version come with the side blowers. It is also the series 2300 line of products.
Is the Sams version just as good it’s on sale right now for 299

Yes. When you spend more time to do a research, you know their specifications and different, you may save a lot of money.
I went on the website and I think you should consider a (budget/value) auto empty category.
In my option, robot vacuums are too high maintenance without this feature.
I feel compelled to point out that the iHome Nova? The super cheap lidar auto-empty robot vac that got clearenced out super cheap a while back? It did this too. And not just on spot clean, any time you chose to have it go over an area (like a room) twice, it outlines the area, then cleans, then outlines and cleans again in the opposite direction.
My iHome Nova has that "Matrix" mode too, just without the name. You can spot-clean or clean a predefined area of any size 2 times

hello, I was full in for the shark matrix but it is not being sell in Europe (at least not in France), they are selling the shark AI ultra, do you have any opinion on it? as it is more expensive... also would love to know if the shark matrix supports 220V? as I could buy and make it send to Europe if the AI matrix is not 'as good' as the matrix.

It seems to me the first industry leader, Roomba, is lagging far behind competitors these days. I hope some day my roborock adds a wax tank, so it vacuums, mops, then lays a coat of wax. I would never get out of bed 😂
I bet you could buy a second set of pads and have add the liquid wax since it drips out and have it do it that way.
By lacking you mean lack of mopping? 2in1s doesnt work well, you have to get more expensive robots, but they are still 2in1s. I think having separate products is way better, since most 2in1s nowadays focus more on mopping rather that vacuuming, which… just make it a mop at this point. Hell, bring back Scooba.
I wold love some extra details on the app, the shark clean app and mapping have traditionally been the biggest downside of shark robot vacuums, with the roomba app and setup being way simpler and reliable. Has this greatly improved? It seemed that way from your video, but how does it compare to the shark iq or Shark ai? The poor mapping on my iq was and is a huge letdown and having to basically clear my whole first floor to remap and having to remap multiple times has really made it a pain that is functional but unreliable at best.
What about a review for the Shark AI Ultra 2 in 1?

Thanks for your awesome videos. Is this essentially the Shark AI Ultra you reviewed a year ago which also has a top lidar and a bag-less emptying bin. Seems like they are within the $100 of each other. I was able to get the Ultra for $298+tax on Amazon Prim day. Which is better? Shark Matrix Pro vs Shark AI Ultra?
They have an upgrade version of this series 2300 robot. The model is UR2360S sold on Costco.
The main upgrade is added a blower on the side.
can you do a roundup of vacuums and which can run locally? cloud mapping is scary and invasive and not knowing which ones can run locally or how well they do holds me back from investing in a robot.
I tried the self-empty Shark that Costco sells and it refused to clean the whole space. It's not even that big of a space, but probably about 8 of the 10 runs I tried to do (including mapping runs), it would think the edges of rugs or tile/laminate transitions were cliffs, leading to finding less than half the space. Returned it and replaced it with the j8+ (the Costco-model j7+ that has a bigger battery) and have had no issues. Sorry Shark. I tried to not support the behemoth, but your navigation made it literally unusable.
Same!! Straight trash I wanted so much to love it but no such luck. My advice: Just don’t. I will never own one again

How well do these robot vacs do with higher pile (shag) area rugs? Do they get hung up? Thank you!
Dunno if this is relevant now, but I have a Matrix and a very thick Ikea Vindum rug in the living room. It performs pretty good. It doesn't usually get hung up, but sometimes the transition onto the rug can make it think it's a cliff. It gets all the visible crumbs off the rug, but I feel like the suction it has can only do so much for a thick rug, so I hit the rug with a regular vacuum once every couple months to give it a more thorough clean.
Side note the rug is awesome, so comfy, would recommend.
From the first time I saw a robot vacuum I knew it needed to self empty. I’ve been waiting a long time now I know which one I’m getting.
I wonder how it compares to the shark AI ultra as I just got it from Costco for $299 to replace my old Roomba 635 from 2016. Now Costco has this matrix plus 2 in 1 for only $100 more. I didn’t even open the AI ultra. I wonder if I should swap. For something I keep as long as I do vacuums it might be worth it to pay the $100 for the better cleaning and the corner air blast. Mopping I’m not too interested in, but a nice feature I would use from time to time. I just know that switching the bins and loading the microfiber pad is going to just make me grab my own mop and do it myself more often than not. If it had an auto switch feature like some of the more pricy robots I’d definitely use it more. Who knows, not bad to have it though

Has anyone tried to save the floor plan configuration on the Matrix or other Shark model from your phone to the hard drive on your lap top or desk top computer( i.e. first floor). Then re-configure a lower level or upstairs plan on the robot by deleteing the first one and then save it as well on the hard drive. Then be able to choose which to re-load back into the robot - allowing both or all three to be mapped so you could switch from one to the other depending on which floor you wanted to vacuum? I understand from the u-tube videos that the robot app can only hold one configuration at a time
No mention of how effective the auto empty feature is?
Some have a tendency to not fully empty, what was the case with the shark?
I have a older Shark and it empties 99% of the bin. It tends to only leave a little bit of dust behind.

Did you do any kind of obstacle avoidance testing? I was surprised you didn’t mention it.
Unless I missed something, it doesn't have that kind of obstacle avoidance that they usually test, that is often only found in a much higher price bracket. Navigation + sensors mostly in this range and not the more advanced AI cameras.
From what I read it will only avoid objects that are tall enough to reach the lidar..
So basically there is not smart avoidance system.
So no mention on how this is a rebrand of the previous model that was exactly the same?
How does this compare to the roborock Q5+? Which would you recommend?

You should review the new Dyson robot vacuum it’s called the 360 vis nav personally I feel it’s a little over engineered but they did bring back the old D shaped like the Neto robot vacuums.
I wish Neato would do an auto empty version. Not sure what that company is doing :(
@@MacLarenIncthey shut down in April. Neato was developing a self emptying and obstacle avoidance robot before they shutdown, there’s a video of the prototype. Then it turned into Kobold VR7, which is made by Neato’s parent company Vorwerk.

I've been asking Roborock to add cross-hatch cleaning patterns since I got my S5 years ago. I just don't understand why it's not a standard feature these days.
Doesn't it do that if you select 2 or more cycles for zone or room clean? Pretty sure my S5 Max does.

If there is a lot of pet hair the port where debris gets sucked out by the docking station can become clogged and fail to empty. That happened to ours. I had to pull out the hair by hand.
I do prefer a bag in the auto-empty bin.
maybe an air purifier helps with no bag.

interesting, LIDAR and auto empty with a reputable brand at $500. While the bagless bin is commendable, you need to maintain it like a cordless vac by cleaning pre motor and post motor filters regularly-dont get me wrong this is more ethical than bags. It is also interesting that there comments here suggest that auto empty should also double as air purifier-not a bad idea, it just needs an air inlet that is above/higher than the device

They do, it's called the Shark AI Ultra I believe and has all features discribed in this video plus more. VW did a review on it a bit ago.
What is the difference between this shark robot vs the older Shark AI robot vacuum models. Is the increased performance the only difference?
I have the first gen shark lidar robot. It has matrix mode too. I don't see any differences other than power
I had the shark AI which looks to be basically the same, with the same features, mine had matrix mode also. It wasn't very smart, would get confused, do lots of circle dances and go over the same areas quite often. Also in cleaning the whole house, it would run back and forth between rooms while cleaning, instead of cleaning room by room. Despite those things I did like the vacuum, unfortunately mine died after 6 months of use. Mine didn't have multi floor mapping and could only schedule 1 time a day for cleaning. If you have lots of pets(i've got 3 days and 2 cats) it doesn't last anywhere near 45 days, maybe a week or two tops.

The anti-hair feature does not work on my Shark...I have to constantly remove hair. I am thinking of having my wife and daughters shave their heads to solve the problem. We will see.

It turns out that the airfilter is not replaceable for the Matrix. When it goes bad you need to replace the entire dust bin on the robot.
Probably something to keep an eye out for when making future reviews.

I bought this a few years ago and have to say I absolutely hate it. It doesn't pick up anything, keeps giving me error code 9, I cleaned the dustbin, the rollers, everything, and it will run a minute or two and give me the same error.

Bagless system is a must in all robot vacuum, mostly they forced you to pay overpriced dust bag just like printer with ink cartridges 😢

Shark vacuums are junk. Mine broke in 3 months and they refuse to honor the warranty because I unscrewed a single screw that held on a side brush. They said that voided the warranty.
