Just make the SE as the next mini phone. The original SE was basically a mini version of the iPhone 6s.

first SE was same design as iPhone 5s
Rebirthing the iPhone 13 Mini as the new iPhone SE 4 would have made more sense. Or even create keep the phone the same size and get rid of the bezels to make it 5 inches. Sounds like the SE will just be the new name for the iPhone 14 with a worse camera and display.
Just upgraded to an iPhone 13 Mini.
I know they're not sold new any more (the Apple Amazon Store has JUST sold out), but I was able to get a mint condition one at the beginning of February. Would definitely recommend.
If anyone’s worried about the size, it has the same footprint as the iPhone 7.

They could have done that for the 3rd gen. Now it’s outdated.
Should be modeled after the mini.
I currently have a iPhone 8 Plus which is just the right size for me. If the new SE is about the same size then that might well be my next iPhone as I only require a good working phone and I only use a few of the built in apps. I rarely use the camera and many of the other features.
I’ve stuck with the SE because I value the smaller size over the bells and whistles previously only available to the higher end phones. The lower cost is also a big bonus.

Smaller phone would be nice, but a crappy enough camera to not have a camera bump would put it over the top and would be an amazing differentiator from their mainline phones.

Exactly, you don’t need extreme image quality unless you’re a wedding photographer. A phone is not meant for gaming or taking photos just make it reliable
I like smaller phones, but I’m very excited for this phone.
I wanted an X with a home button and never got it settled for an 8 and hated it! I now have a 5.8" Samsung S10e! I have a fingerprint sensor and a home button! It's the best phone I ever owned!

Honestly, losing the home button might seem like a minor change at this point with phones adopting that method but if you watch people with there Android or Apple phones and constantly people have to unlock their phones multiple times. Steve Jobs had the right idea and sorry to say that Apple has abandoned it. My iPad is a pain to work with because of it.
In my opinion the iphone 13 mini as an SE 4 makes so much sense. First SE user also prefer small phones like the mini users and the form factor is pretty much the same.
If Apple will lunch the iphone se 4 like this:
- Case I phone 13 mini
- USB C port
- upgrade Prozessor
- action button
That would be the best phone for many mini users and iphone se users. Ofc I really would love to have the dynamic island, but I also can live without it. But btw is the dynamic island necessary for the action button?
Another question is, can Apple really offer a new SE with just one camera in 2025, without wideankle and night mode? So I really hope they will juse the iphone 13 mini, upgrade it a little bit and still use the iphone 13 mini camera with update software.
Ofc the prices will increase, but I mean if they not given us a dynamic island and still use most of the iphone 13 mini parts it cant be soo expensive. In Germany the iphone 13 mini 128gb was 799€ at the beginning. In my opinion a new iphone se with my specs without dynamic island, can get a price tag in germany of 629€-699€ that would be fine. Apple still offer the Iphone SE3 with 128GB for 599€ 😂
I’ve got an iPhone 12. I’m content. Fix the Siri because it sucks. I don’t play games or do facebook. Calling, texting, taking a few photos to share, Waze, Google maps, and apple maps are what matter.

SE is the Junk Drawer of iPhones and I love it because I believe in affordability.
Also, there’s something about Touch ID I like more than Face ID
for the mass market a larger display would defiantly help the SE to sell very well, but personally I prefer a smaller display.
I think that's been the disconnect. People were buying the SE because they wanted a small phone rather than because they wanted a budget phone. Now, there will be a larger screen at a much more attractive price tag. I can see this really boosting sales, though small-phone lovers will be left out.

@@Gearsandco I think the problem is people want/expect more powerful phones and better battery life. But you cant fit that into a smaller phone, .If they could deliver the same performance, battery, and cameras on a smaller phone, many people would buy it in a minute.

@@GearsandcoA mini Pro would have TERRIBLE battery life as by the time they had fitted a Pro camera in there wouldn’t be much space left for a decent sized battery.That would be unacceptable for a Pro device.

This doesn’t really feel like an SE phone. It’s not any smaller than the latest handsets. It’s not as affordable as it used to be. This device would make more sense as replacement for the iPhone 15 in next year’s line-up, presumably alongside this year’s 16 and next year’s 17. Doesn’t sound like a phone to get excited about tbh
There's two things I'll address. iPhone SE never meant the "smaller" iPhone. It simply meant it was a more affordable iPhone. It did that by recycling components Apple had already developed for other devices. Apple always updated it with a newer body each time it was refreshed, and this time, it's getting the iPhone 14 body which will be a few generations old by the time this drops. It's also did increase price, but only a little. I believe the first one was $399 back in 2016/2017. Not the discounted ones that went to $250, but the actual MSRP. Apple will replace the iPhone 15 with the iPhone 16 and probably price it around $699. This will be much cheaper at $429-$449.

@@AppleInsiderThey should create an iPhone CE classic edition for those who want the home button, rounded edges and want a smaller phone. Take the current SE, upgrade ram to 6gb, add a16, and reduce bezels to make it a 5 inch. Perfect. Don’t even need oled.

A16? Bionic? I’m not buying that. Make USB 3 a standard already for the entire lineup.
Mini should be the new SE. I’d be very confused if the SE will be 6.1 inch: what difference will it be between it and the 16 or 17 then? One less camera? I’m sure a lot of people will be gladly trading the camera space for more battery. Nobody will be buying the base iPhone 16 17 in such a case.

Agreed. My XR was freezing a lot until I got the battery replaced last week. IMO, that $90 was worth it. The slowing down was driving me crazy.
They wont put A16 in this phone. Never ever.
its been 2 years since SE3 which was just a chip upgrade of the SE2. My SE2 battery is on its last legs after all the scam IOS updates that slow it down. There were 4 years between SE1 and SE2 so its due now.
They need to keep an LCD version for those who suffer with PWM issues. Why buy this when you can get a much better phone with the 14 anyway, this is going to bomb because once again crapple has misunderstand their consumers.

It looks like you people don’t know the motive of apple making the SE…….the use of making this phone is for people who want the iPhone experience or who want to be in the ecosystem but are on a low budget, they can now afford it thanks to apple making the SE
Wrong, I’ve an SE 2 and an iPad Pro 11”. I do most of my activities on the iPad and use the phone for what it was created for: voice, text, and net connection outdoors. I realize that not many can afford both (e.g. you), but it’s very convenient to carry a small phone in your pocket.

Competition needed to give a "7 year promise" because they kept ditching their phones after 2-3 years. Apple already supports its devices for a crazy amount of time. 5 year promise? Apple still supports devices released 6 years ago. It doesn't need to make a promise because it already delivers this.

No USB3, a 2 generations old chip, no Night mode and an ugly old discontinued notch design. All that for just 499USD (128GB)! Is that supposed to be the budget iPhone of 2025? Can’t BOE make a pill shaped hole on a screen? I didn’t ask for a high refresh rate, only super rich android users think that’s a necessity on their phone. Apple’s iPhone SE 4 is a joke made by a greedy multi trillion company.
