Why is My Electric Clothes Dryer Not Drying Completely? (Featuring Amana Model # NED4655EW1)

- My dryer SEEMS to be leaving my laundry just a little bit damp. I say "seems" because after testing the heating element, thermal fuse, and everything else possible, I'm not entirely sure it's the dryer's fault. Stick around to the end for the outtakes!
This video features Amana model number NED4655EW1, but the principles are the same for many modern dryers.
A few tools that helped me tremendously for this project:
Digital Multimeter: amzn.to/3zWi2ZQ (not the exact model I used, but similar)
Dewalt 8V Inline Gyroscopic Screwdriver: bit.ly/3k0Rkdb
Streamlight Professional Tactical Flashlight: amzn.to/3nkur6x
Armor All Portable Shop Vac: amzn.to/3heYOY3
Like my shirts? You can find them on TeeSpring (see links below) or on Amazon: amzn.to/3A9EfUx Хобби
Thank you so much for your video!
Seeing you (a woman) getting the job done has given me the confidence to tackle my own dryer repair! It was the lent hose going to the exterior. Wow, it was totally clogged! Thanks again 👍
I’m so confused. What was the issue then??
This is so wholesome. I wish there were more women doing what you do! Keep up the great work!
I just did it last night! (I am a woman😂) I should have made a video of it!
I have the same model dryer. Mine had a lint ball the size of a rabbit inside the dryer next to the blower. Unclogged and working like new now. thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for posting. This is the exact dryer that I have and now I can do what you did! Thank you so much Helene ❤
great video! mine was doing the exact same thing. it takes like 6 hours to dry.
We have the same issue with drying. However, the unit timer got stuck and ran while I went out. I shouldn’t have left it on while I left but it had 30 mins or less. Well low and behold it ran for 8 hours. The element went out and the timer went out. Replaced now working fine. However cleaning the traps and the vent really helps. But still takes 2 hours to dry. Now…. The wife has a bad habit. If it fits in the washer then it all fits in the dryer. I advised this is not the case. Over loading will also cause delay drying. So a bit less helps. Also a dry towel in the mix will help. Something I picked up that helps. It’s an economy dryer. This is the main reason it doesn’t dry as well. I’m also in Arizona and it’s pretty dry here. Still doesn’t dry well. It’s just an electric dryer. The old gas ones really worked the best. You also lucky to have only cut your finger. Dryers and washers are usually made poorly even when high end and have tons of sharp edges. I recommend a good pair of work gloves or ones that cover the wrist if you don’t normally work on these kind of machines.
You are a blast. Love your cheerful attitude. Carry on !
Great video and now your dryer is nice and CLEAN!
I followed you and found vend was chocked. It is working great now :) thanks
Love it! Great video. 👍 😁
Thanks for the great video and very informative.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey! Love what you do at home to fix practically everything. You rule for sure.
👌👌👏👏👋👋👋
Thank you! Watch out for my upcoming series about turning a school bus into an RV
@@ChickFixUSA looking forward to seeing that dear!! 😀👋
This is a good vlog!
@@fatima4499 that's for sure!
I had one issue with a dryer that flipping the breaker off and then back on fixed a similar issue.
Thank you sooooo much
I know this is an older video, but I have to comment. A woman that can fix her own stuff is my kinda woman. Please, no offense meant here.😀 My wife is looking at this dryer to replace her old one, and this video really helps. It's a simple dryer, and I like that. Thank you.
Great video! Sometimes the Timmer goes bad on these. 😃 😊
Love your videos! A hott looking lady with humor doing fix it is awesome!
Dood wtf!!! >:[ that's my mother's brother's wife's cousin twice removed sister inlaw.
@@mementomonsters Congratulations she's hot, funny and smart and would be a awesome catch!
@@flipflat4814 wait who are you and what are you talking about
@@mementomonsters Read your comment you wrote four months ago, on how this beautiful smart and funny lady in the video is related to you. Then what I wrote yesterday will make sense to you. ✌
Did you test the timer and the motor heat circuit with your multimeter? Could also be the moisture sensor bars.
Great video! Trying to figure out the same issue with my dryer!
Check the cycling thermostat or the timer check the dryer vent lint vent,
Great funny video! I agree with you on the humidity. Try getting the clothes out as soon as there done. If the dryer is working got to look at the weather! I’m going to get that Dewalt electric ⚡️ tool!
So, I'm not crazy? Yay!
Great video! Next time you pull the dryer out to work on it or clean behind it? You might consider replacing the “foil” duct with semi-rigid duct.
This is a really helpful video-I have the same dryer and can't figure out why it isn't drying completely.
I certainly hope it helps you figure it out!
Great video... I have the exact same dryer that is doing the same thing. For the last month it has been 100 degrees or higher here maybe that is the problem. It's a brand new dryer, I've only had it exactly 1 month. Seems to coincide with the weather...hmmmm
Could be arcing in the timer or the heating element ??
This is my kind of woman great video and being a looker does not hurt either.
How do you take off i try 2 hours no luck
You’re hilarious. How do you remember how to put things back together properly? Amazing.
Spoiler: It might just be humidity. Seriously, though if it heat pretty hot then the heating coils are fine. If it sometimes doesn't dry all the way and the dryer has an "auto dry" or auto sensing feature, then try checking that the two metal bars usually on the drum are clean. A light scrubbing with a kitchen scrubby pad will probably clean them. I'm here because I need to clean, check the resistance of mine. Thanks for the video!
ha ha ha. you made me laugh so hard this morning watching this. great job. lol
Great video! I've essentially replaced all the thermistors, thermostats and blah blah blah on my propane dryer a couple years ago and needed a refresher for my gf's electric one.
BABE: Clothes are damp, time to buy a new dryer!
ME: OMG babes, NOOOO, there's like 5 parts to check. YT and I got this! 😂😂
Thanks for making me laugh, great vid!
Hmm that makes sense to me the temp outside can affect so much! But you made me want to pull my dryer. Apart and find out where the squeal is before the neighbors start revolting! 😂😀😜
Ha! My guess about the squeal is that it might be the belt.
Roller wheels,
Appreciate your vid, I also think its the current high humidity. Youre a genius!...The end of the vid? ( lucky dryer.)😛
Does this dryer have an end of cycle signal (annoying buzzer) or does it just shut off when the cycle is complete with no noise?
No buzzer, it just shuts off. Which is both good and bad.
Came to find an answer. I'm a tech. I have to say, well done! And thanks for a laugh. Keep it up
One thing that can happen with coil heating is that the coils crack, they will often show good continuity when col d but once heated they expand and separate.
Do I have to take out the heating coils to test continuity?
No.
If I have a hose that is to long could that cause it to not dry right
No
THNX DOLL...MINE WAS THE THERMOSTAT!!!🤘🤘😎😎😎
I have a different amana that has been giving me trouble for a while. I just figured they're crappy budget models.
Mine keeps running and won't turn off. It's slowly stopped heating too ugh
How did you fix it? We’re having the same problem.
How did you fix it? We’re having the same problem.
Thermo fuse,a little white fuse with 2 wires
Subscribed when you did the “aaahhhhhah”
Thanks!
This happened to me. It was the humidity. The room was to hot.
Check the thermo fuse or the timer, cycling thermostat,or timer
I had a poor blower. So the dryer was getting hot, but the air was not blowing
cool
You need to check voltage at dryer, maybe line cord bad or breaker
You should never have screws used for fasteners on dryer vent lines.
Same dryer same problem
Clean the lint filter vent inside the dryer, the vent hose that exit the dryer,
Same dryer, same problem? Just a shitty made dryer! Lots of money but only last me a year& a half.Wished I knew this!
i like to know what vedio she learned from. you gys can ddo the same thing
😂😂😂😂
Tw
ok, kinda funny (being charitable for your efforts), but a waste of time.
Acting stupid made me close your channel
her husband is helping her what to do and say, hey peopleare watchin nothing wrong with that
