Hey, Mama Deborah! You helped get me back on skates a year ago and now I’ve been hired to teach a family how to skate. Thank you for your consistently great content and for just being super cool.
Great job on the video! Im so curious as to what kind of skates you are wearing? I'm a pre-beginner (prepping to get up the courage to buy my first skates) and they look fun but not too flashy!
Ednita was a big motivator to me getting back to skating. I love watching her videos and seeing how much better she keeps getting. She also introduced me to your RUclips channel.
Thanks, Terrassa! I’ve been saying this whole time, practice makes progress….once I started following Dirty, I focused on skills instead of tricks. I’m glad I learned this lesson early☺️
I love this method of getting up cute. It’s not about the fall it’s about how you recover. I’ve seen professional skaters fall and the recovery is so fast that they redeem themselves. The embarrassment comes from falling and staying there or struggling to get back up.
I sincerely appreciate all of the helpful videos you have posted Deb! I've not quad skated at all really, roller bladed as a child. I invested in a great pair of skates. Biggest thing that has kept me from actually getting going is falling. I have the protective equipment, but the mind likes to build things up to unnecessary heights. It will take practice of getting up from the ground and perhaps practice falling to help me see past all of that. It is not embarrassment holding me back, rather that concern of injury. Your videos have helped me most and I wish there were more skilled teachers and rinks available closer to where I live. Thank you for helping us all learn skating skills no matter where we are on the globe. 💛
This is a huge help for me, I went to a roller rink and was having the hardest time getting back up, because like Dirty I have a lot more to work with as a fat person then kids and skinny skaters. So having something to drill off skates and on skates will hopefully get me one step closer to skating in the rink, and not just the carpet. Skating after 5+ years of not doing it is hard.
Finally a way for me to get up!!!! I took a beginners class with kids and they taught us the knee way, I was thinking to myself I mind as well stay on the floor this is way harder than falling lol 😂
🤍💗🛼🛼 ⛸⛸ Mrs. Dirty! You have inspired this 37 year old of Mom of Twins 👸🏽 👸🏾to buy get first pair of skates and start my fitness journey at the gym and at the skating rink! Oh and Mrs. Dirty I’m 5”11 and 6”2 on skates how do I keep my balance all the way up here 💖 any tall lady tips? I set my posture tuck my snack area bend my knees chin up Etc just still feel so Vulnerable at times, it might just be mental 💖
Okay ... make absolutely sure that you keep your hips low and your knees flexible. Practice getting down as low as you can and rising up in a controlled manner. Skating is primarily done with the lower half of the body and supported by the top.
I just absolutely embarrassed myself at the skating rink today and I've been watching your videos and practicing without skates and try to get my balance and movement right, thank you so much! (Any tips on how to improve I'll take!)
I just bought a pair of skates, and have been watching your channel to teach myself. This morning, I fell and busted my chin on the pavement. It scared me at first, but I’m okay. Falling this morning gave me a weird sense of confidence. Like it sucks, but you’ll be okay and it’s a part of learning and that’s what I’m doing ☺️🛼
This is awesome! I’m totally gonna practice this. Can you do a video that shows some of the drills that you gave Ednita when she was just starting out?
That day, the first time I visited the rink, I had been learning skills from her videos…so I asked her a bunch of questions based on that and she would watch what I was doing then give me drills to make it better. So it wasn’t a set of drills she gives everyone…she met me where I was at.

Going rollerskating in Central Park at the roller disco tomorrow and never skated before so hopefully these tips will help me not make too much of a fool of myself 🤷♂️
Oh my gosh thank you for this I’ve been doing the push up on your knee way because that’s the most talked about and I’d just keep rolling forward and falling back on my butt

I just started skating again at 62 and i have fell a few times and this vidro is going to really help me . Hopefully i wont be falling too many times !
Heyyy Dirty, this is the one right here, still trouble for me, my back foot slide so I can not get the momentum I need to stand up no matter how much I press down.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS ♡ I've been wanting to slate 5ever now and I just got my first pair at goodwill where I work. Brand new in the box, my size 💫 today is day 2 and I feel so much confidence and comfort already bc of your content!
@@Dirtydeborahharry , thanks! I had the best time on Wednesday roller skating, meeting you and Ryan (again) and spending time with my cousin. I think I may do an afternoon session this Saturday. It feels like being a kid again! Love it! Thanks for your videos, Dirty Deborah!
Great video. A few weeks ago I fell so hard in a cul de sac that it rocked my whole body. I fell flat on my side butt and back. No gracefulness there. I had no choice but to lay there while a truck waited on me. It’s funny to think about now but my bones were rattled for about three days. I still have no idea how I got on the ground. Dirty, can you do a vid on how to transition just before going down a hill? I live in San Diego, so nothing but hills and I’d like to venture out a little more than half of my neighborhood since one half is hills and the other is flat.

I know this was made a year ago but HOLY crap thank you for it. A lot of roller skaters are able to pop themselves back up by pushing on their leg but I have no upper body strength to do that 💀

Excellent explanation, thank you!
I was about to skate every day, then decided to do it on days I don't have to go to work the next day, which is 3 days
I fell horribly last week on the boardwalk due to the sand, need a ton of practice, but not giving up!
Even this is hard for me. I definitely don't have any lower body strength 😂. Something to work on. I'll get there eventually 💪
If you skate you're gonna fall. When I find myself on the floor, I always hope no one saw me🤣.
