    • Brutally Honest Review...
    About Scoot (from Wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoot):
    Scoot Pte Ltd, operating as Scoot, is a Singaporean low-cost airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. It began its operations on 4 June 2012 on medium and long-haul routes from Singapore, predominantly to various airports throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Scoot's airline slogan is Escape the Ordinary.
    Scoot's fleet initially consisted of six Boeing 777-200ER aircraft previously operated by parent company Singapore Airlines. In 2015, Scoot began to transition its long-haul fleet to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Scoot also uses the Airbus A320, inherited from Tigerair, another low-cost Singaporean airline which merged with Scoot in July 2015, along with the Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo for its short-haul flights.
    About the Boeing 787 Dreamliner (from Wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoot):
    The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an American wide-body airliner developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. After dropping its unconventional Sonic Cruiser project, Boeing announced the conventional 7E7 on January 29, 2003, which focused largely on efficiency. The program was launched on April 26, 2004, with an order for 50 aircraft from All Nippon Airways(ANA), targeting a 2008 introduction. On July 8, 2007, a prototype 787 without major operating systems was rolled out; subsequently the aircraft experienced multiple delays, until its maiden flight on December 15, 2009. Type certification was received in August 2011, and the first 787-8 was delivered in September 2011 before entering commercial service on October 26, 2011, with ANA.

    I’ve flown Scoot several times, and I really have no complaints. They are much better than most discount airlines.

    The reason why scoot is so cheap is because on the ground, they don’t sign up for a lot of soft services that other carriers do, like cabin cleaning between flights, refuelling at outstations, lavatory servicing etc. All of this combined allows them to spend less time on the ground and get quicker turnarounds, reducing airport fees in the process. Then with their baggage rules, most flying with them would only have carry-on, which lessens the plane’s take off weight and allows them to consume less fuel. A lot of their flights also have less than favourable take-off and landing slots at both the departure and destination airport, which means that airport managers can offer them better rates than planes flying at regular, sociable hours.

    You should try Zipair, Japan Airlines' low cost full 787 fleet subsidiary flying out of Nartia. What blows my mind is that they offer free wifi despite being an LCC. Perhaps they are more like a hybrid between an LCC and full service carrier?

    After a flight with them from SIN to TPE, I also thought they were OK-ish but weird (charging S$ 40 extra to sit in a seat with a head rest was a new one to me) but then I was forced to fly on them on their longest flight (after Turkish & United couldn't agree on the luggage allowance of my biz mileage ticket - 0 or 40 kgs 😭 and I had to return home from the airport for the 1st time in my life) and it was an absolute 14 hours nightmare.
    They're also the only airline that refuses to give you a refund if your flight gets cancelled and the next one isn't for days and I won't ever agree to this, as it only means they can now jerk you around as they please without consequences where it hurts.

    From India to Bangkok it's not that cheap and equally priced to air asia.
    I want to know whether scoot keeps cancelling flights or they are on time. I will have connecting flight from Singapore to Bangkok

    Can we say Scoot is Singapore version of "AirAsia"? Do you think Scoot is comparable better / worse than AirAsia?

    • @theRealJohnnyG.
      @theRealJohnnyG.  2 месяца назад +2

      Yeah sort of, but I think a big advantage of AirAsia and its subsidiaries are the many point-to-point connections within ASEAN while all Scoot flights only go from or to Singapore.

    Good video. I’ve not flown with Scoot but I did with their predecessor (forgotten the name) and with Singapore.
    I agree with your conclusions re. budget airlines: if you want more than they’re offering then you need to fly full-service. I can do budget airlines for short flights (two hours or so) but not much longer. I had a bad couple of flights with Ryanair a few years ago, simply because the seat was so uncomfortable for the four+ hours of the flight (UK to Crete & back). But shorter flights with them were fine.
