This song intrigued me because it strikes me how smart Bo Burnham is about this system we live, and how easily he could be one of these pop stars he's singing about and make millions, but doesn't. Thanks Bo, if you're reading this
I was using "Millions" as an expression. I know Bo Burnham has made a lot of money, but my point was that he probably could have made much more making more formulaic pop music.
blownspeakersss Ok, I must say that i'm actually surprised buy those numbers. Anyways, he isn't as big of an asshole about money as most Americans are, as he actually put his full show online for free.
I’ve been trying to watch his older stuff with the context of his anxiety during performances. It definitely makes me respect his ability to push through it for so long
Vinayak Kumar Theres different interpretions of the joke like Chloe's one being that he was comparing the music industry to hitler's ideals. For me, I saw it in the fact that it was so sudden, after he so innocently told the crowd to sing along then doing the nazi salute.
***** If you watch some of Bo's other stuff, he does a bit where he gets the audience to shout back to him "I say hey, you so ho: Hey!" A:"Ho!" B:"Hey!" A:"Ho!" He then cuts it short by stopping and saying "And that's basically how Hitler rose to power." So I see it as a nod to some of his other performances, noting that people can be easily persuaded by repetitive slogans and cultural popularity.
1:36 - 2:14 REALLY pay attention to the melody of his voice. If you play Guitar, play along to this part. The chords are simple. Bm, G, D, A. It is the EXACT same melody and chord progression as the song Despacito by Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi, sung with Justin Bieber. Proving everything Bo Burnham says: "But more than all of that I love the fact that you are dumb enough To not realize Everything I've said, has been said before in a thousand ways In a thousand songs, Sung with the same four chords." "I also hope that you don't see through This cleverly constructed ruse Designed by a marketing team Cashing in on puberty And low self-esteem And girls desperate need to feel loved." Now, go read the lyrics to Despacito, and really listen to the melody again. It's all a vicious cycle. Long Live Bo Burnham.
best part about this song, besides the nazi salute bait, was that apparently Justin Beiber and Selina GOmez went to one of these shows on this tour and got to hear this shit live lmao

The fact that he references T.S. Eliot's "Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" as a critique of his own love song is everything that is right with Bo Burnham.

"I love your nails, your ears and how you do it, I love your nose and how you can't see pass through it. I love the way your eyes shut and open when you blink, and how all your insides are really really pink."

I feel the exact same way. His "From God's Perspective" song is another great example of this if you haven't seen it yet. Beautifully simplistic and surprisingly powerful.

This song intrigued me because it strikes me how smart Bo Burnham is about this system we live, and how easily he could be one of these pop stars he's singing about and make millions, but doesn't. Thanks Bo, if you're reading this
Actually, Bo has made millions. But I agree with your point.
blownspeakersss millions? where do you get your information? I think he's done quite good for himself, but i'd be really suprised if this is true.
Lander Dumoulin www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/richest-comedians/bo-burnham-net-worth/
3:02
that breath was intense dude
LOL UR PICTURE WITH THIS COMMENT THO
I HAD NEVER NOTICED NOW I'M CRYING FROM LAUGHING

cashing in on puberty and low self-esteem...
How does this guy still have a job? ty internet ty bo
I didn't understand the part about low self esteem
I’ve been trying to watch his older stuff with the context of his anxiety during performances. It definitely makes me respect his ability to push through it for so long
*OH HELLO SATAN*
*Mmm~ Oh Satan, you taste so good~*

We all need help

He stays with his roots!! We love this guy!!!
He is 23, he is the Root.
Ya know clickable emoji crap isn't good
The nazi salute made me laugh my fucking ass off.
***** wait i dont understand the joke, can someone explain it lol
He was comparing the music industry to Hitler's ideals.
wait can you explain? i dont understand
Vinayak Kumar
Theres different interpretions of the joke like Chloe's one being that he was comparing the music industry to hitler's ideals.
For me, I saw it in the fact that it was so sudden, after he so innocently told the crowd to sing along then doing the nazi salute.
***** If you watch some of Bo's other stuff, he does a bit where he gets the audience to shout back to him "I say hey, you so ho: Hey!" A:"Ho!" B:"Hey!" A:"Ho!" He then cuts it short by stopping and saying "And that's basically how Hitler rose to power."
So I see it as a nod to some of his other performances, noting that people can be easily persuaded by repetitive slogans and cultural popularity.
Mic: C-come on Bo, t-there's no need to---
Bo: *chokes on the mic*
1:36 - 2:14
REALLY pay attention to the melody of his voice. If you play Guitar, play along to this part. The chords are simple. Bm, G, D, A.
It is the EXACT same melody and chord progression as the song Despacito by Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi, sung with Justin Bieber. Proving everything Bo Burnham says:
"But more than all of that
I love the fact that you are dumb enough
To not realize
Everything I've said, has been said before in a thousand ways
In a thousand songs,
Sung with the same four chords."
"I also hope that you don't see through
This cleverly constructed ruse
Designed by a marketing team
Cashing in on puberty
And low self-esteem
And girls desperate need to feel loved."
Now, go read the lyrics to Despacito, and really listen to the melody again. It's all a vicious cycle.
Long Live Bo Burnham.
Christian Romero woke
this song literally is a full sarcasm of nowdays popular music i guess. he also mention about illuminati easter eggs that found in a lot of music.
wasnt justin at this show,
Christian Romero yo thats finna woke
Wolfyy That's not the point. It's not that he based this song on it, but that Despacito proves the point that this song is conveying
GREAAGH FINGER YOU FINGER YOU

Oh hello Jesus! Nom nom nom, oh Jesus your cooking tastes so good
imagine instead of the heil hitler salute they extend a thumbs up in the music video
It was quite some time ago when people cheered if some person did the Hitler hand raise.
Dutch Netherlands lol
i dont know where you live, but me and my mates still get a kick from it
Dutch Netherlands there's something quite nice about it though isn't there?
Captain Majestic it makes sure you’ve flexed your arms muscles before arm exercise
Go to a high school and mention hitler.
Just when I think I am the most cynical human on the planet...I have much to aspire to.
mr7wi that was my exact thought
mr7wi Someone had to take up the torch when Carlin died. Bo and Louis CK take turns with it.
best part about this song, besides the nazi salute bait, was that apparently Justin Beiber and Selina GOmez went to one of these shows on this tour and got to hear this shit live lmao
That, "I love you." made me spit out my coffee. Damn you for being hilarious whilst I sate my caffeine addiction! DAMN YOU. You're awesome. You're awesome. Repeat stuff.
"I luv hue"
Haha Idk why but the pic of that dog looks funny with that quote lol
LewisLetsPlay Saturation feels left out.
yehbe lol what are you talking about?
LewisLetsPlay In color correction you have hue and saturation... I made a little joke no one understands.
He describes my opinion of modern songs with one song. Amazing.

Teacher: Who do you look up to?

Teacher: Uhhh....
Me: Don't think about it too much.

Rutuja Sasankar good for you
welcome to the group
Aron 24 group? Or family?♡
Monika my bad family but of course ;)
SAME AHHHHH
I really loved the part where he opened his mouth and words came out...
I love how he has the balls to point out all the problems in the world and drills it into your subconscious brain. It makes you think about the world differently to a degree that's better than any modern day influencers. Bo is amazing
I like how Bo Burnham calls it comedy even when the only joke is that the whole world is pretty much just awful
"The secret source of humor itself is not joy but sorrow. There is no humor in heaven." ~ Mark Twain.
thats not funny? well damn dude
welcome to the world of comedy
IPods
itsazy "No." ~ Mark Twain
damn bo, you want to get a little closer to that mic?
WELL I BET I CAN GET CLOSER!
Bo: *deepthroats mic*
Yes.
After this video Bo was then banned to be 100 miles near a microphone store
LMAOOOOOO
Lol, Justin Bieber was in the audience!
it was at a different show, but imagine being in bieber shoes while he sang this...
He'd wipe his tears with hundred dollars bills.
Not in this one but okay...
Hollow Ichigo selena gomez
imagine being justin beiber and going to a comedy show just to get clowned on by some 22 yo guy
The fact that he references T.S. Eliot's "Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" as a critique of his own love song is everything that is right with Bo Burnham.
I don't get it, can you explain to me please?
3:46 he looks like hes about to get pissed about pringles cans again
This, this deserves too comment
This is the most amazing love song ever. This is also why people with brains dislike much of the pop music scene. Fantastic.
Watch the whole special Joseph Hindy, its called "what" and is on RUclips and Netflix. Then watch his other specials. Bo is a super talent in the comedy world.

;p
Jason Gregory I watched it last night lol.
Also, I saw what you did there lol.
Joseph Hindy Oh my bad, though you just watch that one video.
Jason Gregory noooooo lol my roommate put it on and told me to pay attention. It was a pretty good show. A little sporadic (I'm of an old school mind when it comes to stand up comedy) but he had some really gold stuff in there.
The whole show was amazing
This guy is so important. We need someone to speak the truth like this.
To think that justin bieber actually heard this song live...
Makes it so much better
"I love your nails, your ears and how you do it,
I love your nose and how you can't see pass through it.
I love the way your eyes shut and open when you blink,
and how all your insides are really really pink."
Gg
That doesn't appeal enough to small girls without ears, nails, eyes and intestines.
That's not going in the final cut.
666 likes, should I panic?
Rhymed it twice
meh
My girlfriend loves this song, but my wife doesn't get it.
wait
wtf
Micheal C I ask myself the same question often: Who to f*ck?
Kram Itupyourbutt dude its either you are a really funny guy or you are just messed up.
Didn't know there was a line in the sand between the two. For instance, if I tell a joke while pulling an R. Kelly (sans pedo-bear unpleasantness), does that make it a taboo conundrum?
Why does the noise and face he makes at 4:16 crack me up EVERY time?!
HEHE
the whispy "I love you" is the best, thanks for the timestamp straight to it lmao
That face is called the "Liam Neeson"
When he gets the audience to repeat after him, then stands up and doesn't the Hitler salute and the lights turn red. Jesus this is good shit
I appreciate that Bo gave a wink to Hicks, but I really appreciate him writing social satire like this and make it palatable for the masses.
"FINGER YOU FINGER YOUUUGGGHHH"
Yeah, real palatable haha.
I feel the exact same way. His "From God's Perspective" song is another great example of this if you haven't seen it yet. Beautifully simplistic and surprisingly powerful.
Oh girl-
Oh hello Satan!
*swallows mic*
Why does that part crack me up every time?!😂😂
Julia Adrian same
dick mic
That's a tribute to Bill Hicks... check this: ruclips.net/video/5uyCJKEMOx8/видео.html
Why does it turn me on every time.
Probably because it’s basically saying that love song writers blow satan
Am I the only one who’s impressed by his deepthroating performance on the microphone? Or should I say micrope- okay I’ll stop
unoriginal
If that's a micropenis, then I need to go cry into my pillow for an hour, brb.
Also barely a deepthroat. It was a shallowmouth
I think that would actually be classed as Micrape.
please do
I love bo’s actual good singing voice
Not good, but funny.
I love the fact that even though bo hit it somewhat big he still finds the generosity and the respect for his roots to release his show for free even though with the caliber of his comedy he should be making millions with it.
3:19 "OH HELLO SATAN... *sucks on microphone* ougmm, mmm, mmmmhhh... satan you taste so good..."
:O🎤
what did you make me watch?
C: Hardcore Porn
The Katt why???
Yeah... I have a boner now... Thats something i didnt know about myself...
+Dashhii I loved that homage to the late Bill Hicks.
Fun Fact: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were in the audience during this.
Really?
Yea, Bo either mentioned it in his new movie or an interview, I forgot.
It was a Conan interview, search "When Bo Burnham Insulted Justin Bieber - CONAN on TBS"
No, they weren't at this show. He preformed somewhere in California and did this song and they were there. This was in Madison, WI.
+Ethan Powell this in san Francisco 😎
"Oh hello Satan!"
*MFMDPF*
SATAN YOU TASTE SO GUUUUUUUUUUUD
