Oh my i love it! So easy! U said this is for a newborn up to 1 month right? I wont be using that same brand but the same weight so will it come out differently? Like in size because all yarn is not the same even if it is the same weight.

I have just sat here and tried different hook sizes with two different yarns. To get the 5" height, I had to use a size 10 hook. I also tried a hat with an additional DC row using size 8. These are fun and easy to make!!

It took a couple of tries with the yarn I chose at Joann Fabrics and the hook sizes... but I finally got the sizes I needed for newborn and preemie.

I used Lion Brand Hometown yarn from Joann Fabrics. It was a 6 super bulky and recommended 9 hook. I tried a 9, but the hat was a tad smaller than the size I needed. I took it apart and used a size 10. Perfect! It gave me a 5" height and the correct circumference for a newborn. Hobby Lobby has a better selection... and will go next week for better yarn choices.
