- This crochet tutorial shows how to crochet an easy knit-look beanie with chunky yarn. Any other weight yarn will work too. The crochet stitch is very basic so this beanie is very easy to make. It works up fast and can be finished in just 1-2 days. I used almost 2 skeins of this chunky yarn #crochethats #crochetbeanie #crochettutorial

Is there two pieces of yarn in the back stitch?
😇
This will be my first crochet project. I’ve started over several times. My biggest lesson learned with this is as you crochet, the panel tightens up resulting in the length shrinking. So I had to start with a longer braid than I needed to compensate for the shrinkage.
This actually isn’t because of the stitch if you’re a very beginner it’s probably bc your tension is off! It happens a lot with beginners and tbh this stitch is awful to start with for beginners bc it does require good consistent tension, try making a beanie with sc or dc first and practice squares to perfect ur tensions and edges!!
Its happening to me! 😢 I don’t want to give up! What was the length that you used?
Love the chunky green yarn 💚
You have saved me! I love this pattern as it’s stylish and fashionable. I’ve attempted doing it but I always ended up frustrated. I’ve just recently started crocheting and this was very easy and helpful 👌🏾✨
Very glad I could help! 🥰🤗
exactly my thought! I was thinking of a pattern for my cuffs for winter to hold my legs warm while wearing skirts. This is exactly the pattern I need for that. (minus the closing the top part obviously :D )
I made one using half double crochet because i’m too impatient to do the whole thing with a slip stitch and i love it! thanks for this video. I love the colour of yours! ❤
Thank you so much! I used a chunky yarn because I don't have patience for slip stitch either 🤭
Super cute! Can't wait to do this!
Loved how you used measurements and showed how much stitches you made !!!!!!! Loved how it turned out too !
Thank you so much! 🥰
I'm making so many beanies for christmas this year now!! I'm on my third - this pattern was so easy to follow. thank you!! :)

oh this yarn looks so good!! i just did a top with this stitch and it absolutely destroyed my hands lmao😭
OMG that's a lot of stitches 😂 but the top must look sooo good with this stitch
bloody hell! so sorry for your hands 🥺
What size need
OMG SAMEE it's so hard 😭😭🙏
@@erikabetancourt2390 i learned by now that its way easier if u use a needle 1-2 sizes bigger and loosen ur tension a lot abd take breaks!!😭 take care of ur hands🥹
I have tried this pattern 🧶🪡and followed each of your steps and beany turns out cool 👍 thank you sweetie
So glad and you’re welcome 😊
I have never heard of this yarn. I love the color. I love your hat its beautiful!!!

It's really easiest and comprehensible method of making beanie and i want to try it right now though I'mtotally blank in this respect...It's impressive..good job❤
So cute!❤
Beautiful beanie and love the color of yarn
Thank you so much 😊
I had an uneven number of stitches somewhere, and the hat still turned out great! Luckily i used a multicolored, speckled, and textured yarn so no one noticed the mistake.
This was very detailed you didn't take too long explaining you went step by step. I absolutely love❤❤❤❤❤ this video!! Thank you!!
Gracias! I am so determined to make my own beanie
So beautiful, thanks for sharing 🎉🎉🎉

Thank you for a great vid. & using a big crochet hook so it's easy to follow 💐
Thanks so much! Happy to help! 😊
Beautiful hat

I like how you keep your hook in your last loop so then you don’t unravel your hard work.

Wow! 7 hours it took you! That’s faster than me 🤭
@@CherilynQ it was a very stressful week, maybe that explains my speed :D

Your hands are so beautiful dear sister 💞
It’s 3am and I cant sleep so I’m finally going to relearn how to crochet
Thank you so much!! I’m just getting back into crochet after about 6-7 years and I needed a good refresher. I decided to jump back in by making a Minnie Mouse and Spider-man hat for my husband’s little cousins (3 and 5) and I was soooo mad that I wasted my time on another video that skipped straight to the finished product with unclear instructions and no pattern. You just saved Christmas and I can’t thank you enough!!
I can tell from this video that I’m gonna love your channel. Subscribing right now!!
I appreciate it! 😊 Hopefully my instructions are clear enough. You can go through the video before actually getting started to make sure. Also, like I said in the video, the sl st is more time consuming than other sts, so definitely use a thicker yarn or you can even change it to a taller stitch like BLO hdc. Really helps saving time.
@@CherilynQ Thank you so much for responding! Working on it now, as we speak. I’m a total insomniac. The only reason I’m doing it with a thinner yarn this time is because I’m sewing a patch on the front and I feel like it would look a little neater on smaller stitches.
But I did, indeed, go through your video first and then again to make my notes and jot down your instructions like I usually do. My mistake with the last lady’s video was stopping once she got to the repeat rows and starting the work because I was anxious to jump in. When I came back to see where to go from there…well. LOL
Again, thank you!!! You were PERFECTLY clear and I am so appreciative of your time!
@@Hai_Lello You’re very welcome ☺️ So glad I can help!
Wow very beautiful i like it i plan i make this week thank you 👌

Thanks so much 😊
I just watched the other vid and put on notis
Perfect timing 🤭💕
I ended up making a huge giant hat...not sure what i did wrong. I think i need more specifics in a tutorial. :( kinda bummed. I was so excited
This video has changed my life 🥰😻💗
Now I can finally live my life to the fullest!!!
I no longer experience suicidal thoughts 💞
You have gained a follower for life!!
I made this as a beginner, thank you
Can regular acrylic yarn be used? This pattern looks really good
Thanks! Yes, you can use regular acrylic like weight 3 or 4. Just add more stitches for the height and more rows for the circumference.
You have amazing nails
Awww thank you! 🥰
i can't find the correct back loop! i get confused trying to find it :(
Este cea mai ușoară căciulă
this is my first time crocheting anything wearable and this tutorial was perfect thank you so much! question though, the two adult-sized beanies i made with this vid turned out amazing but i can't figure out what measurements to use for a child-sized one :> could i maybe have some guidance on that :]
Hi! Thank you! I don’t know much about child sizes; I mostly do made-to-measure but I’m sure there will be some guidance on beanie size online. Now that you know what the ch number and row count are for, it should be quite easy 😊
i have watched this on repeat for hours and i still can't get it 😭😭😭 how am i doing it so badly that now my yarn is unraveling 😭
Hi! Don't worry! I'm here to help! What are you having trouble with?
Is the height of the beanie 15inches when stretched or laying flat? Or does that not matter? Thanks in advance :)
Just lay flat, not stretched 😊
can i use papatya big twist yarn and a 10mm hook to do this?
😻
This is awesome! Thanks for the tutorial. I'm finishing my beannie and I just realized somewhere on the beginning I lost a couple of stitches at the end (this is my first project ever!) So now the end is a bit shorter than the beginning. Is there anything I could do? This took me weeks, if I have to start over It wont be done by christmas 😢
You're welcome 😊 I think when you close off the top, you may be able to hide those extra stitches on the wrong side.
I'm new to crocheting. What does marking the 1st stitch help with?
It helps you find that 1st stitch when you come back. Slip stitches are really short so it might be hard for some people to tell the ch-1 at the beginning of the row from the 1st stitch.
What kind of yarn could I use if i had a 4mm hook?
Just curious, how long does it take to make this? It looks so good❤
2-3 days
🇺🇸🌹🙏. Thanks 🙏
Welcome! 😊
8:02 Quick question, because I did one right and one wrong and now I’m struggling. When going under “both loops” from the beginning side of the hat, are you meaning two loops from that starting base chain, or the two loops from the actual first row of stitches?
Just the loops on the very edge, so the ones from the base.
Hi can u show how u add the new ball of yarn when u run out the first yarn while crocheting please?
Hi! I’ve got a Shorts tutorial on that on the channel.
I am quite new to crochet and your video seems doable as I really wanna make a beanie. But I wanna make it with wool so is it possible as the yarn would be much thinner and which hook should i use. Would appreciate your reply as i wanna start wt the project soon 14:27
How do I avoid my ends rounding out as I add new rows? I feel like they never come out straight
This may be from accidentally missing/skipping a stick, causing the row to be short than the one before.. curving it
Needle Knitting かとおもってました。びっくり!!!
hi im new to crocheting and i was wondering is this pattern kinda like one size fits all. I"m making a hat for a friend for Christmas and im really nervous it wont fit his head. I think my yarn is fairly stretchy but idk :/
Hi, I would say yes, this size will fit most people cuz there will be a stretch between rows. I usually make the long side of the rectangle (head circumference) 21-22 inches when it's slightly stretched, but it fits my bf too even though I made it my size. Also, if you are using cotton yarn, make the beanie a bit small than you want it to be because cotton tends to stretch out over time.
hi!! im just about to crochet this but i dont have a yarn needle for the top but i cant find the link for the slip stitches , can you tell me where this is please?? :)
Hi! There should be an exclamation point in the top right corner when the video is playing. Click that then you should see it.
I really want to make one of these for my Aunt who has cancer. I feel like she would absolutely love it. Where did you buy your yarn at? I have one passed on to me from my great grandmother who passed away last year, but it seems to be a lot thinner than yours on here.
I got my yarn at a local store in Australia called Spotlight. For this beanie, you would need a thick yarn like this to be able to finish it fast.
Hi! Thanks for the super helpful tutorials! I have one question tho maybe someone can answer but is it normal that as I go through the rows my rectangle isn't rectangling? 😭 Like it keeps getting smaller and smaller ?
Thanks again 💗💗
Hello! The rectangle/rows shouldn't be getting smaller. Make sure you work into ALL the stitches of each row by using stitch markers 💕
I know this is super late so idk if it’ll be helpful, but Im having the same problem, I thiiiink it’s because the stitches are getting tighter because I’ve been stretching out the newer rows a bit and it’s been helping. This is my first time crocheting and I’m only about halfway done so I might not know what I’m talking about but it’s helped me. Good luck with yours!! 💗
what happens if i don't want to use chunky yarn will it still work or do i have to use another
pattern?
Yes it'll still work. You'll need to add more sts and rows to compensate though.
Im gonna try this! I want to try 2 colors any advise or tutorial? Thanks!
You could do split colors or vertical stripes. I have tutorials on both. just not with this stitch.
Thanks will start with one color. Is 100g enough?
I actually used almost 200 g of this chunky yarn.
It will fit all size child to adult?
Heyy I really love this tutorial, i was making a two colored beanie, but the texures are different, should i still continue or try one color
Thank you! What stitch does the two colored one use? I have two tutorials on 2 toned beanies. I think you should keep going. They look really cute!
Am using half double crochet back loop only. The type of yarn an using is from the same company but one is firm than the other
@@elizajanenjoki5273 If there’s a big difference, then maybe just use 1 color.
There isn't that much of a difference, let me continue see how it goes. I hope it just turns out good 😊.
Also, one quick question! If I’m using a medium yarn weight, like 4, do you suggest we still go a hook size up or use the size suggested in the skein? I think I saw you tell someone else to use the suggested size but I just wanted to make sure.
Definitely a bigger hook for sl sts. Since you are making presents, I don’t suggest weight 4 yarn. Weight 6 would get it done quicker. There’s a another tutorial of mine if you’re interested, it’s also a knit-look beanie but with weight 4 yarn and the stitch/row is taller so it works up faster.
OK, thank you so much!! I have some extra time because I’m home all day and the little ones are out of town until the middle of next week. But if I can make it to a craft store tomorrow, I’ll look for a heavier weight.
great tutorial!! i have a really thin yarn compared to one in the video and i don’t remember the size. this is my very first attempt. i see some videos of thickening the yarn by having three lines in one ( i hope i could explain) but it is harder to follow since chain numbers multiplied. would this tutorial work for thinner yarn or what can i do? i wanna do a beanie for my boyfriend as a gift 😣😣
Hi! I get that tweaking the chain count can be a bit tricky, but the real reason I'm nudging you toward chunky yarn is because of the stitch. It can work up really slowly if you go for a thinner yarn. You might even lose motivation before you finish the beanie.
@@CherilynQ this is exactly what happened haha!! i’m maybe at 15-20% of it and i already quit.. i will try with a thicker yarn thank you for the reply🥰
@@xoxozge Oh no worries ☺️ sorry I usually reply faster but was busy with Christmas
Hiii!! I love this patternnnn!! May I ask, the yarn I'll be using is a weight 4 yarn and it calls for a 4mm - 5.5mm hook, is it alright to use a 6mm hook? Thank you!
Hi! Thanks!! I think it’s totally fine. You might even need to try larger than 6 mm cuz this stitch can be really tight.
Also, in case later you feel working this stitch with weight 4 is really slow, try double or even triple strands ☺️
@@CherilynQ Yay, thank you!!
No problem!
Hi , I'm having issues with keeping the edges straight. Any tips please 🥲🙏🏼
Hi! Make sure you have the same stitch count for each row. Use a stitch marker to prevent missing any stitches.
What if I want to make it a bobble hat/beanie? Will it be easy to add the bobble part to this project?
Yes, you can totally do that. I’m sure there are tutorials for it.
Also, what number weight is the yarn?
Why the need for the stitch marker?
