@@GuitarMates I would love to crack the rhythm guitar, Rick was such an inspiration to me from the mid seventies... I tried but having hands like shovels always caused a problem...too late now, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching you break the songs down etc ...thanks 👍🏽
What I tell my students is to play the rhythm higher up the fret for a while where its easier, then slowly move down. I always says its like being in a gym. You have to start on smaller weights then work up. YT would have you believe you can just walk in and lift 100Llb in a week.
Francis Rossi told the story of how the riff for this song came about. They were in the studio recording the album (Blue For You) when the rest of the band left Rick Parfitt behind while they left for the night, Rick saying he was working on a riff. He had taken speed (allegedly). When they came back the next morning Rick was there sitting on a stool with his guitar practising the riff. 'Oh. You're in early' they said. He had been there all night!
@@bericjeavons8362 This tuning is open G with a low E to G rather than D, I have never broken any strings using this tuning and I am a heavy player, but I do use hybrid sets 10-52
Hi Bill, totally agree, glad you liked the lesson. More Quo lesson on my channel. Please subscribe if you haven't already. It really helps the channel.
Top man, Rick Parfitts finest hour and a track I've always wanted to learn,... Whilst on the subject of Blue for you why not do Rick's second best track?....Rain.
Hey Geoff, brilliant stuff mate, thanks for showing,.any chance of doing the intro for this great song please ....and really enjoying your channel...and turning into ultimate bedroom Rock Star much to annoyance everyone else in the house Haha 😄
On the main riff are you muting any strings? As it just sounds like a complete mess of a racket when I play it, the noise from the other strings cancels out the melody.
Hi Jon I am muting but also strumming across the 2 lower string at an angle so as not to strike the lower strings and using the fingers of my left hand to mute the remaining strings.

Just goes to show what a rhythm machine Rick was....such underrated musicians
There is to much emphasis on speed now, not enough on quality.

Just wanted to post a quick note the tuing is actually Low E tuned to G A tuned to B High E tuned down to D please take note!!!
Jon Shaw yes all the strings must be G B or D
DGDGBD, tuning the string up the much is just good way to break strings.

Your sound is a bit tinning, needs more grunt.
it's too heavily distorted, almost fuzzy, Rick played it clean with phaser or similar it gets heavier because it's a Ac30 at full chat
Your playing it wrong!!!
I agree, an entire step missing
