  • HIV remains a major global health issue, affecting millions of people. Researchers worldwide are tirelessly working on new insights and therapies, with many now believing the key lies within African genetics.Scientists from University of KwaZulu-Natal(UKZN), South African Medical Research Council(SAMRC) in South Africa are studying rare HIV phenotypes, such as ‘elite controllers’: individuals who can naturally suppress HIV without antiretrovirals. This research aims to discover new therapies for people living with HIV.
Besides collaborating with researchers, MGI has also launched targeted sequencing products for HIV, streamlining the entire process from library
preparation to sequencing to report output for rapid, accurate drug resistance detection.
