Petrol down 4%, diesel down 13% and ev's up 31% in December.......the answer is simple.....
Dealers are withholding sales of ice cars and pre registering ev's to meet net zero ev mandate......they can release the restriction of ice car sales for a while but they will have a load of unsold ev's going into the next year, this situation will become worse as the year goes forward with a larger proportion of ev's will need to be fidposed of with an even larger quota for the year to meet the mandate.....its going yo get very messy..

Andy Palmer has moved around the auto industry a lot. These chancers get promoted way over their ability and stick out a job for as long as they can get away with and then move on to another. When they have reached the top then other companies automatically think they are top notch and they can easily get a ceo position elsewhere. I work in the auto industry in design and I see it happen all the time. Who is there above a ceo in a company to scrutinise a person's ability to do the job well? No one. Then because the ceo is usually incompetent they hire department heads who are also useless because the ceo knows absolutely nothing about what they do, and so it goes on ad infinitum, in all companies, year after year. Tragic.

I'll tell you a story from the late 90s Baz - I worked at a computer manufacturer in the run-up to Christmas and us sales guys were selling computer systems faster than Purchasing could keep up with. There was a CPU shortage (or a shortage at the purchasing pricepoint) so the plan was to build the computers except for the processor brain, pile them up in a corner of the factory and put the CPUs in at the last minute when they arrived. However nobody informed the warehouse manager, who mistakenly sent out these computers. January was spent dealing with hordes of angry customers who had a dead computer as a Christmas present.
Could these stockpiled cars in fields and on airfields be without their most expensive parts - their batteries, which would be fitted IF they get sold?? Have you spoken to anyone who has purchased one of these airfield EVs, did they then have a suspiciously long wait to get their hands on it? What was the process? Would be interesting to find out!

More work on deployment of chargers ???
    70,000 EV public chargers
8,300 petrol stations - say 8 pumps on average per station = 66,400 pumps
But heck say there is the same amount of public refuelling points for EV's as ICE vehicles
41.4m vehicles registered on UK roads
1.4 are EV's which leaves 40m or 30x more "other" vehicles (mostly ICE - minus some hybrids, lpg etc...)
So there is 1 public charge point per 20 EV's
Vs 1 fuel pump per 570 "other" vehicle type
(Even if you remove Hybrid/LPG & take it down to say 1 pump per 500 ICE vehicles)
So EV's have 1 public refuelling point to 20 EV's
against 1 pump for 500 ICE vehicles
But yeah they claim they need better charging infrastructure ???
How many more charge points do you think we need ???
Yet this isn't including that most privately owned EV's have their own means to charge at home,
either by a home wall charger or a 3 pin granny charger
Which the estimates places home/work chargers at around 930,000 or 1m in private + public charging
So there is 1m EV charge points (private + public) for less than 1.5m EV's
(again 1 pump per 500+ ICE vehicles)
Again: Just how many more EV charge points are needed & still fail to hit the 22% ZEV figure ???

    • @leecromer3289
      @leecromer3289 15 дней назад +1

Yeah but though there are fewer pumps per ICE compared to EV chargers, how many ICE cars can you get through a petrol station while one EV sits for ages being charged?

    • @authuruksake969
      @authuruksake969 15 дней назад +1

@leecromer3289 EV public charger ratio 20:1
      ICE pump ratio 500:1
So there is 25x difference in the ratios of vehicle to charging/refuelling
or to put it another way...
A fast EV charger at 50kWh - not talking about 100kWh or 150kWh or even faster chargers that are being installed, just a modestly 50kWh fast charger - we are told it can recharge an EV to 80% in 45 minutes but let's say 50 mins for ease of maths to recharge an EV to 80% (after that the charging rate slows)
So 50 mins to charge an EV to 80% - so assuming say a 50 to 60kW battery
      (charging from say 10% to 80% = 70% of said 60kW = 35 to 42kW charge req in 50mins)
      (even less on a 100kWh, 150kWh)
Do you think you could refill 25 ICE cars in the same 50 minutes ???
That's a refuelling pit stop in 2 minutes - hmmm I doubt it, but let's assume the ICE owners work on the Red Bull F1 team pulling out all the stops & complete the whole process including paying/transaction in 120 seconds or less
Ah but not all public chargers are fast chargers - yes true
but the vast majority of recently installed chargers
(and they've been really busy bashing these out in last 12/18 months)
      are 50kWh or more
Most commercial chargers will be 3-phase 22kWh at least, but I was talking about public chargers reaching parity to ICE fuel pumps - yet the ratio is 20:1 vs 500:1 with ICE pumps
Plus the vast majority of private EV owners will tend to charge from home mostly, often only using public chargers when the are desperate...
So the 20 EV to 1 charger is even less - way less than 20:1
If private EV owners only use a public charger say 10% or 1 in 10 recharges
that alters the the ratio to 2 EV's seeking to recharge on public chargers
But even altering the 20:1 to half of that 10:1...
That would mean you need to try to refuel 50 - FIFTY ICE vehicles in the 50 min time slot
Now all these figures are getting out of hand perhaps...
BUT above all else the point I'm making - and I am an EV owner myself...
The public charging network has already reached parity with fuel pumps
yet the ratio of 20:1 vs 500:1 ICE also balances out roughly speaking
or how many EV's or ICE vehicles can go through that charger/pump in 24 hours etc...
Most of us can/do charge at home but ICE vehicles are bound to visiting a refuelling station to share with another 499 ICE vehicles

    • @leecromer3289
      @leecromer3289 15 дней назад +1

@@authuruksake969 wow, impressive! However looking at it from a real world perspective, yes you are probably correct in your calculations, but what happens if there were the same number of EVs on the road as ICE cars? The time it takes to pull up, fill up and drive off, even if an average of five minutes, there will have to be a massive increase of public chargers to accommodate a similar throughput of EVs. Bearing in mind the national grid nearly collapsed in November and consumption increases during commercial breaks, I honestly don’t think the grid will be in a position to cope with a bigger charging infrastructure for a long time yet. It’s ok saying a lot of people charge from home and that’s fine if you’re toddling to the shops, but on longer journeys public chargers will be essential for most. Thinking about it, and I don’t think you may have considered this in your calculations, if you have twenty chargers and are all occupied for 50 minutes, can you imagine, even with an average fill time of five minutes, how many ICE cars could flow through a filling station in fifty minutes that has twenty pumps? That would be ten cars per pump, that would be 200 ICE cars per fifty minutes, not 20 EVs, and I should imagine that for all but the longest journeys an ICE car could fill its tank and do a return journey without refuelling which would require maybe one or two stops to recharge for an EV which brings us back to the through put problem…honestly I’m not convinced…

Naturally, you sign a new contract or you're deemed to have resigned. Getting back to the SMMT figures, the sales in December are about 7% of overall 2024 sales. So there was a "massive 31% market share in december" for EVs. But overall sales were lower than in december 2023. And much of those fleet sales are 'sold' to the manufacturer. And then the other clown states that "used BEV bargains are the biggest news". In other words the fact that those companies are trying to dump these EVs that nobody wanted to buy off them as new cars as used cars is a good thing. Despite the fact that the car industry is bleeding billions to make that happen. ICE car sales were lower in december so on the flipside there was also less sales where the car industry can earn some money. Soon the government will blame the car industry when they start to close down factories.

@@Andy-e8n7g You obviously haven't read the actual report that Mailonline is parratting from. First off, as an aside, you will naturally get less out of a battery in winter than you put in purely because the electrolyte is thicker and creates more internal resistance (that's a fact and one that most evangelists prefer look the other on). But! It's this report's 40% less in a real life test that's the shocker. They charged all the various makes of cars to 100% next morning they made sure that they had a full 100% of predicted range. (because you'll normally loose 2% overnight) which is of course like having a very slow fuel leak on an ICE car. Then they set off on a test track. They needed things like heaters (in moderation) lights wipers etc. 'cos it was winter, just the usual things ICE drivers take for granted. They also discovered that the vehicles were doing less miles per Kwh than they would do in warm conditions and ended up with 40% less distance covered than was supposed to be available at the start. They drove the cars until they died which you couldn't do on a public road. Couple 40% less range with the 80% max charge and recharge ASAP after 20% rule to preserve battery and you have a very real problem in winter as many long distance EV drivers have discovered. So for me that says they not only lost 40% of range but also lost 40% of the £££ fuel (electricity) they put in, in relation to expected range against cost.

EV batteries are not discarded, they have 2nd lives at static batteries or are recycled. Most are 90% recyclable. Lithium is 100% recyclable.
I've see this at the recycling plant in Wolverhampton.

The bigger the bubble of this stupidity gets, the bigger the bang will be when it all goes pop. If you're in the motor trade and you're the sole wage earner in your household, get out now. Don't try to ride it out, because you can't. Think MG Rover, and times it by a factor of one hundred thousand.

    Doctor Andy Palmer.
Sorry why is a car administrative officer and CEO calling himself a Doctor?
Does he have an ego problem?
