In other census related news. My Grandma sent an update email to my sister in New Zealand, but my sister never received it. Turns out my Grandma had somehow managed to send it to the census email address. The thought of someone at the census reading about my Grandparent’s marmalade making adventures has tickled me all week. 😂
This is wonderful!
I had to google when our next census is here in Australia... it’s in August this year! I enjoy filling them out too! Would your Grandma like to share her marmalade recipe? 💕
Mark and his trees and the census. Love his passion for these things, so relateable!!
Honestly he’s been going on about the census for WEEKS 😂
@@TheAnnaEdit I would like to swap my other half for Mark please, he is literally the opposite and doesn't want to fill out the census as the government will know where he is, à la Ron Swanson, or the Dad in The Duchess
I’m thoroughly enjoying marks slow spiral into domestic dad mode. He’s enjoying the birds, growing his apple trees, can’t wait to see him in the summer when you guys can garden.
A man so forgettable... people can’t even remember his name. 😂
@@fififi9977 i was talking to my friend matt while typing that comment oop
Keep the door...it adds interest and if you have a child or three, it's quite enchanting. 👍💟
Keeeeeep yesss
definitely keep the door, could be great access in the future for many reasons
I just paused the video to check if someone already had commented this haha
There is something very relaxing about Mark talking about his clippings, has he considered doing some sort of garden-themed ASMR 🤣
HERE for this!
hhahah i agree
I’d watch it!
Keep the door! I imagine two kids rooms up there and they would love having a door between the two! Or having a shared bedroom and a connecting shared playroom!
Cute!!!!
was thinking that too x
I love the idea of a shared bedroom/shared playroom!
Paint the door so it looks like the one from Alice in wonderland and have it open into a toy room😄
lovely house, keep the door, place a bookcase on either side and lock on the office side, so when Mark turns it into his office there will only be one entrance. Who knows later on that could be a walk-in closet to your attic room.
Can I, as a librarian, personally thank Mark for his enthusiasm about the census, so many people are trying not to fill it in this year and it’s a really important one, so thank you for repping how great they are!
Is it required by law in England? It is here in the US and I was super invested in it too because we use that data for my job so I know a little bit more about the process than the average person
@@MoniqueARuiz It is required by law in the UK too.
Keep the door! I love being able to walk in a circle in a house 🏡 enjoy the quirkiness 💕
I find myself missing you during the week, Anna.
It’s nice to see someone so grateful to own your new home and be able to afford to work on it. Keep the door, it’s a nice bit of character even if it doesn’t get used.
I agree, I wish she posted more because I always feel like Im in need of one of her videos xx
I appreciate the way Anna acknowledges her privilege. She gets it. 💕
She has worked very hard and stayed lazer focused on her goals. She makes good choices. And a stroke of good fortune surely. "Privilege" is the current idea hostile to the truth created for toxic thinking. It's undermined just about everyone, nomatter color, background or family status. 💯
She’s worked hard along with her husband it is earned privilege 🙌🏻
@@zenosperformance1125 acknowledging privilege does not negate any hard work. This argument is elementary and tired.
MARK AND HIS APPLE TREE CLIPPINGS JUST STOP IT OH MY GOD MY HEART
I am SO into those clippings ! Growing plants is so satisfying and fulfiling ! Have a beautiful day
Anna, you’re almost at 500k subscribers! 🙌🏼👏🏼
Please can Mark have a little gardening update spot, his enthusiasm is infectious!
I always cut tubes like that open towards the end - you get so much more and makes me feel so silly for wasting so much product in the past by not doing this!
Especially if the product is fabulous or pricey or both...the scissors have to come out. 😁
If Mark is making sourdough still, making crumpets from the sourdough discard is super easy and SO delicious. Highly recommend!
And sourdough pancakes!!
Would love to see a video of making sourdough crumpets because I can’t figure out how to make it work!
Keep the door! It's such a unique feature!😁Also love that Mark is growing apple trees, that's so cool! His enthusiasm for hobbies is so endearing☺Those muffins look delicious too!😋
The sheer panic at the end after such a tranquil video 😂❤
think it may only be us that watched this far!!!! was hilarious, i spat out my coffee!! that's what zoom sessions are like in our house!!
I moved into my home 2 weeks ago. Today I went outside and saw that there were bulbs peeking through the ground. I was so excited! Between that and my new garage organizers, I feel like a true homeowner :)
Keep the door. You may want to convert the small room into an en-suite bathroom in the future for your teenage kids! 🤔
The wall of plants pleases me greatly 🪴🌱🌿
Yaaaaaay love my Sunday morning Anna video routine.
Yay! Thank you!
I just rewatched your California vlogs to dream about traveling while in Lockdown. Gave me a huge mood boost!
Keep the door! You could maybe make it into like a secret bookcase- imagine that in a child’s bedroom!
Mark is a garden blogger in the making! He has some very calming, Monty Don vibes 😃
Well done Anna and Mark for the census shout out! Glad you completed it.
I really hope Anna is still vlogging when the apple trees grow up and start to fruit, imagine the one where mark and anna make apple crumble for their family using their own apples, the wholesomeness!
Great video 👌 i just love getting up on sunday to watch Anna with a cup of coffee. Loved the shot of all the plants in the kitchen, it’s beginning to look so homely.
PS Maybe keep the door, it’s part of what’s lovely about old houses, they have character. X
I think you should leave the door to the little room next to your guest bedroom Anna. It looks perfect for a babies room if you slept in the cosy guest room. Easy access to a tiny person for the nightime feeds, but the distance you want after the first few weeks. Sharing a room is brilliant at first because you want the reassurance of hearing them breathing, but after a while they sleep more deeply (and so do you!) when they're in their own room. Nothing worse than waking a slumbering baby when you bump into furniture in the dark crreping into your room at bedtime.
Yes I keep thinking it will be great for our friends with kids when they come to stay xx
I’d keep the door purely as when I was a child playing at my grandparents I loved running around between interlinking rooms in their old house!
Anna serving strong Ina Garten vibes with her oversized blue button down whilst baking in the kitchen
Each and every week I’m catching up with you, since 2013! You’ve been with me through a break-up, through change of jobs, finding a new partner and having our son almost three years ago - my census has definitely changed as well during the last 10 years! x
That room is fabulous - those skylights! There are so many rooms in your house, they just keep unfolding.
Great video. I love Harriet Westmoreland. Her work is so clean and relaxing
The apple trees- that is blowing my mind.
Mark, apple trees need to come in pairs so make sure you keep 2!
I’ll let him know! X
Not necessarily! There are apple tries that are self fertile! I have one!
You actually only need two within a certain distance so I’d say if the neighbour has one you’d only need one probably
I really enjoyed Mark's enthusiasm about his apple trees. Warmed my heart.
Lol at Mark, "Is it censuses or censii?" Reminds me of the time in class (I'm a math teacher) when I told the kids to come up to the front table and get one of the compasses and then was like, "or is it..." and thankfully only thought compii😳 in my head without saying it outloud and was just like, "yeah, nevermind, it's definitely compasses". Also, when I first heard the sanding I thought it was a ship's horn.⛴😄
I used to laugh at my mum for cutting open her tubes when I was a child and thought it was embarrassing. Today I also do it. Once I saw how much product there is left inside you just can’t waste it
I find the census fascinating, too - for anyone interested in family history, it is so useful. I have worked on a couple of previous censuses, which was fun (and at times, not so much fun) but being able to complete it online this time was brilliant.
🤤🤤 crumpets are the best breakfast/lunch food. Melted butter only though, cannot stand cheesy crumpets 🤢
I’d keep the door it’s a quirky feature to your house. Unnecessary but fun 😅
Your house is gorgeous and the location near the beach, I’m not jealous... well kind of 🤭😁. The door in the attic? I’d just lock it and keep the key somewhere safe. It is a quirky feature and you never know when it will come in hand like guests with a child?
Anna, just keep the door and turn that extra room in a (very) nice walk-in closet/beauty room 😍
Wait...did I just hear you say ‘I forgot blush’... WHAT?!!!
That must be some hell of a blush (ordering it immediately), bravo Jamie Genevieve👏👏👏👏
Love to hear Mark talk about gardening, can’t wait to have a garden space myself! Hope the stress of reno settles a bit soon 😊
Fellow gardener! If you would like to guarantee fruiting and faster fruiting, considered grafting the clippings onto a reliable root stock.
I'm binging - love these vlogs. I could sit with you all day hearing about the ups and downs of renovations! xx
I’m a fan of your cooking segment. And also with the blue shirt you’re giving big Barefoot Contessa vibes 😂😂😂
I feel you Anna with the home reno, we’ve just finished a kitchen extension that first started in Nov. We’ve had our new room for about 5-6 weeks now and it’s great but the builders have just a couple of jobs to come back for and let me say sits so bloody hard to get them back!!! I feel you, but you’ll be so pleased with the result, then you can chill for a bit, then plan the next one !
Keep the door! What a love suite you could have with a sitting room or play room on one side and a sleeping area on the other. Perfect for small children or guests!
Very impressed with Mark’s Apple trees. I didn’t even know you could grow from apple tree clippings! We grow clips from most of our plants and then use them for housewarming gifts, etc.
KEEP the door! You can always use it as well space and put things in front of it, but much harder to revert back to a door if you brick it up. It's a fun feature
I would keep the door. Love when everything is connected and open. You could take a quick nap from the office
Keep the door. I love it!!!
Keep the door! If kids ever visit you, they'll love running through it.
as someone who has grown up with two doors in her bedroom - keep the door! it's a fun accent, and you can always put a bookcase/storage in front of it when you're not using it and as a kid it's amazing to run in circles over and over again
Definitely keep the door, I love love little quirky things like that in houses ! It’s different and unique to most 😍
Hi! I'm a preservation based interior designer and my rule of thumb is generally that if it's an original feature to the house, I would keep it since these features inevitably disappear over time. However, you deserve a house that functions exactly how you want... so if that's removing the door then do your thing! Just store the door away so you (or a future owner) have the option to reverse the decision in the future.
Love from the states!
Love this post!
Love the random extra door. I've seen things like that before when Mr and Mrs have their own entrances into a walk in closet. Or like other people have said, could be sweet for kids as well!
I tried Mitchum deodorant after Anna recommended it a long time ago and I still love it. Loved to see it in this video again!
to the 0,1 percent that might read this:
YOU are worthy of love and happiness, never allow anyone to tell YOU otherwise! I wish all of YOU plenty of health and strenght during this tough times. I YOU are loved, YOU got this, YOU are strong, never forget that!
Much Love from Germany
💓
Thank you! I really needed this today 💗
Keep the door! That little room would make a lovely walk-in wardrobe, office or even en-suite!
Your vlogs are my favorite part of sunday morning routine! Love your make up in this video, sooo lovely.
I love Mark and all his projects....he is precious 😍
Definitely keep the door! Lovely quirky feature.
Keep the door! I had the same thing in my bedroom when I was a teenager. It was turned into a closet for my brother since the door in the little room was also connected to his room. Maybe create a bathroom or a playroom for future children.
As always.. love the look into your week.
Interiors question:
My humble opinion: unite both of the rooms (depending on the caring wall) and enjoy more space with maybe built in wardrobe.. 😊 enjoy the reno!!
That lapis shirt is a LOVELY colour on you, makes your eyes pop!
Yes keep the door! It is such a nice quirky thing.
Whenever I hear the word "orchard" makes me think of that line in Friends "there's a deer outside eating fruit from the orchard" 😅😅😅
I have to go! There’s a deer outside eating fruit from the orchard!
Maybe you could buy a mattress topper? You know those things that are basically super thick mattress protectors. For while you're using it and for future guests to make it more comfy.
Also keep the door, could work out well in the future and it doesn't really detract to much by being there. Install a bookcase/shelve things on either side (or just the office side and a lock) if possible so it's more space efficient.
Love a bit of census form filling! I did ours early too 😂
Keep the door! If you’re ever hosting a friend with a kiddo, they may enjoy having the door between. And I echo what everyone else said about two kiddos sharing the door, too.
easier to keep the door now than to remove it and regret it.
Definitely keep the door !!! x
My vote is keep the door too! Super cute to have it interconnecting between 2 children's rooms. It did make me giggle that you thought you would "brick it up" if you were to close it though hehe
This was the perfect Sunday morning vlog, I’m absolutely making this muffins today too! Managed to watch this in bed with a coffee and toast as my start to Mother’s Day
You could turn that space into a closet/on suite for the guest bedroom. If not, I recently saw someone turn an extra door until a bookcase by taking the door off and building the bookcase into the thickness of the wall.
Happy sunday Anna, loving waking up and watching this with a coffee in bed! ❤️
Love the angled ceilings - so so cozy! I also laughed so hard when you said you were harmonising with the sanding :'D
Keep the door but take the handles off if you're not using it - you can always put a bookcase there to use the wall space
Another great vlog Anna & Mark!! I love how real you keep your vlogs because its real life and you guys living your life!! And were all living through something along with Covid so no need to apologise!!😉 it reminds us were all the same and not alone is the mad world were in at mo!!!🤷♀️ Keep the door, it adds interest and personality to you home, as you giggled while running around!!! P.s. luv the muffins, was eating them through the screen, lol!!! Keeps safe. 😉👍
In LOVE with your hardwood floors
Keep the quirk, it adds wonder and mystery.
I'm so happy that I'm not the only one who loves a census! I found out my girlfriend was filling ours out and I was not impressed, so she gave me the login stuff to finish it off. That is how exciting lockdown life is at the moment.
Re the pigment bit...Since I'm covered in years of sun damage *eye roll*, can def recommend Victoria Health's Alpha Arbutin + Kojic Acid (I use every evening) with morning routine of a Vitamin C and then niacinamide/azelaic combo (watch %s) before spf. Doing a very good job of dimming down both melasma and sun spots, yay. But I did use the AoS Mandelic in that routine as it's the only sucker I could find to get deep enough to start shifting things, so will repurchase. It's quite the journey!!
I would definitely keep the door!
Without knowing other details of that top floor, I would convert the ‘storage’ room into a guest bathroom (assuming there’s no bathroom on that top floor). So no I wouldn’t close off that door into a wall just yet. You may also decide, one day in the far future, to move your master bedroom with ensuite into that top floor. Lots of light with the lovely new windows. The storage room seems small for a proper bedroom. It could be a study but I like the ensuite bathroom option. Just my thoughts. Lovely space and home ❤️ I am jealous that you an see sheep in the distance.
Oh goodness, home decorating and/renovations drive me mad. Once its done its great, but during it I can't wait for it to be over!
I feel like it was just the other week that we were watching you renovate your bathroom in your old flat, I love how much youre sharing about the renovation series - we have very similar taste and Im so excited to see the journey! I also picked up the dior polish shades from your insta post and while it doesn't look as beautiful on me as it does on you, its still gorg!
That melt in the muffins...muffin goals! I see those in my near future 😂🤣😂
I think you have to think about what you would want to use that room as in the future. In our childhood home, we used to have a similar design with doors but it was connecting the living to the kitchen so fun for kids to play around with. I personally wouldn't keep the extra door in there if you want to turn that space into a private bedroom as you would rarely use the feature and it ends up wasting space? I guess it all depends on how you want to use the space in the future as it would be a fun feature for a playroom but maybe less so for a private room :)
Congratulations and also stay strong with the renovations!!!! Thanks for this lovely and relaxing vlog.
Hey Anna, the flowers you said were a delight look like they might have some Australian flowers in there. The little yellow ones look like wattles and the big yellow ones look like Button Daisies or we sometimes call them Billy Buttons.
so here for the long vlogs! thank you, Anna 🥰
Oh god mark is just adorable when doing anything!!! you are very lucky indeed :)
Loved season 12 of Drag Race. Ru's obsession with Crystal and her hair gave me life.
Really looking forward to the new podcast season!
Also, I love how much you two love your home! It’s so inspirational!
Love your hair length at the mo!!! :) I know you're probably looking forward to chopping it all off once everything reopens but I just wanted to mention how nice it looks a bit longer.
Also, I'd keep the door - if you want to use it as a wall, you can still kinda remove the knobs and put something in front of it but I can see how this would be great if you later decided to turn that room into a guest bathroom, or a walk-in closet.
A built-in shelf where the door is would look great! Utilise a little of the opening that's already there instead of bricking it up completely. I personally would definitely remove the door either way, because it takes up a lot of wall and floor space it both rooms. It would only make sense to keep it if you were to ever make a wardrobe attached to the bedroom for example (great for a kids/teen room in the future maybe!) or even combined bedrooms. It could be something that's easy enough to reverse in the future maybe?
