It's 2023, and I'm in my 40s just had my baby a few months ago. Yet, there is still stigma about being an older mom, I think society at large is ridiculous. Now I have a lot more resources, money and time, and focus for this baby. Although I would have wanted to be a mom in my 30s, I just wasn't able to. But that's another story. Life happens and you just embrace it and enjoy it.
I'm hoping to be as lucky as you. I am in my mid-30s, and I am absolutely not ready to have children. Furthermore, I don't have the resources, money, and time.
My mum had me at 41 in 1974, so very much an older mum back. I didn't miss out on anything because of her age, I just had a mum that was a lot more relaxed and at ease with herself and motherhood.
That is so great to hear. I am 40 and finally in a place in my life where I feel ready to start a family, so I'm going for it. One of my aunt's had her son at 47, so I'm optimistic.
I was 40 when I had my daughter,I wish I could say I now have my life together. It isn't. But we are happy n healthy n my daughter has two chilled older parents. Who don't stress as much as we would have in our 20s. Luckily, we are still hip, my daughter is 4, I'm 44, and my partner is 51. We just blend in with the younger parents just fine. X
it's not the age but the risk of deformities with the first pregnancy after 35 that grow exponentially the doctors warn about. Biology does not care about your gender.
Elizabeth Day should’ve interviewed her. She really has a lot of tact when asking super personal questions. With this it felt like just personal question after personal question like she was ticking off a box, and it’s like, Sienna’s super private, it feels a bit disrespectful. Anyways, I like sienna a lot and congratulations to her ❤
Sienna Miller is drop dead gorgeous as she gets older. An underrated actress (American Woman is the movie I highly recommend to see her career best performance) and an underrated fashion icon who revitalise the boho chic trend in 2005 alongside with Kate Moss as far back as I can remember, she deserves a lot of credit for that. Her fashion choice is so inspiring
Sienna Miller is staggeringly gorgeous and seems lovely, I thought the interviewer was fine, just quite matter of fact. My mum had me at 41 (I’m youngest of 5) and I’m 64 now so its not a new thing, though mum didn’t want another baby at that age! However, she lived till 95 and I adored her and never wished for a younger mum, if it happens naturally then perhaps its meant to be…
I'd heard about her for decades but never seen her interviewed. She's completely lovely and generous. Wish her interviewer had asked her fewer intrusive questions. I understand about being an older mother, I was 46 when I had my child, no doctors or IV involved - completely natural. My child is in college, doing very well.
Thank you Sienna for describing so well, in not many words, how society see us women who are late mothers. I am 40 and I would love to have a baby, and I refuse to accept that my time is over only because motherhood at a younger age is what is considered normality. The only thing that might stop me is my body. I hope to be as lucky as you. Lots love x
Kudos to Sienna for managing this interview so eloquently and gracefully. Such terrible, targeted questions with some odd underlying negativity and passive aggressiveness. Not cool
Sienna is a fantastic actress. I'm still bowled over by her Cork accent in 'Live by Night'. I'm a Cork woman and was SO impressed by how spot on she did our accent. Congrats to her and her partner. Another beautiful little daughter. How exciting 🎈🧸
I first saw Sienna in Miss Julia on Broadway, she was great. I then saw her after a screening of American Woman in Savannah at SCAD. The movie was powerful and well done. Sienna was interviewed after the screening and her responses revealed a smart, strong, kind woman that pursues wisdom regularly (not so much a series of light bulb moments, but a woman intent on living an examined life). Oh, and she is super pretty in real life too!
That's such an English mentality regarding the age of pregnancy. I'm English and live in Mexico. I'm also unexpectedly pregnant at 41 (will have just turned 42 when I give birth early next year) and not a single person here.. even my doctor has ever mentioned my age in all this!! I panicked when I found out I was pregnant as I'm used to the English mentality of a woman being written off at age 35 regarding having a baby. Let me tell you...its nonsense ....so many of us are having happy and healthy pregnancies in our 40s. Do not let it stand in your way ❤
It’s not “writing you off”, it’s just a higher risk pregnancy. That’s all. Why are people so hurt by facts? I had a higher risk pregnancy at 31 because of a kidney problem. My baby came out very underweight but luckily ok. facts shouldn’t hurt your feelings.
You are correct that statistically the odds are worse but humans can’t really process numbers emotionally. Real High risk is still statistically rare even after 35, but in order to be careful a general rule has been made that indirectly stigmatises women above 35. I read books about how it used to be and in fact above 25 is a geriatric pregnancy. What this leaves out is that young women can have complications and also older women can have none. And often have none.
@@patriciasanderson2171 What I found in my 40's having just had my baby and I've just turned 43 is that i was frequently referred to as a geriatric mother and high risk. The terminology is so outdated and rather offensive sounding isn't it given modern day courtesy now. My understanding is that older ladiesare higher risk potentially, not necessarily "high" risk. I'm an ex world championship athlete and was fitter than most half my age so it's rather a broad statement and every pregnancy really should be personalised and not generalised.
@@patriciasanderson2171 Was your kidney problem age related or a general health issue personal to you regardless of age. Kidney problems at 31 sounds unusual.
@@patriciasanderson2171 My mother had me at 42 and that was 42 years ago ha ha! She was a great Mum but sadly passed away three years ago. I guess that's the sad thing having a child later in life- the death factor. Ah well
Mine had me at 38, she worked throughout and had me a week later. She didn't have any issues while pregnant either. She actually had more complications and issues with my brother who was way older and she was in her early 20's.
It is young in our time spectrum, now…but not very maternal age. It’s getting towards the older end. I had my first at 22, and my second at 37. The first one I had 1 month early, the second 3 months early…so, so premature. It is a miracle they survived. I’ve grown so much and am a much better, more patient mother, emotionally regulated and calmer (worked a lot on my own attachment wounds). That is great, but I also think it’s hard looking back at the ignorant failures. Life is a continual series of lessons. Learning to have humility, compassion, instead of shame…is the only way to be with that
Chloe reminds me so much of her mother, especially in her manner of speech. She seems like a lovely person. Sienna looks beautiful, she should just enjoy the time before her new daughter's arrival. Safe birth!!
She soooo beautiful, naturally beautiful. Very clued up and intelligent. I have always adored Sienna, I her style is on point. I was obsessed with Sienna's style as a young fashion/textiles student.. She always looks classy. Sienna is my female crush, as a straight woman. Love her ❤❤❤
@@TheQuietStorm630 I did but I can't ask Sienna Miller but I can ask you. How is it Misogynistic or the fault of this so called patriarchy that people GENERALLY look differently on later pregnancies? It's for practical reasons not the reasons you endorsed.
Misogyny and patriarchy have got nothing to do with biological facts - most women will have more trouble conceiving and are at higher risk of miscarriage and other complications at that age. To pedal the false narrative that it’s the same as when a woman is in her 20s or early 30s is lying to women.
A few days ago it was revealed that Sienna Miller became a mom for the second time - she gave birth to a baby girl! ♀️ And it's wonderful! Children are always wonderful
Sienna is always so much fun and lovely and insightful...the interviewer, Chloe Malle is not a people person. She may be a fashion expert but this was uncomfortable, no conversational finesses, no connection, oddly authoritative---more interrogatory style?
Came here to make the same comment... there were so many opportunities for laughs, warmth, and connection, and yet this interviewer was very business-like!
Nice interview. Lovely woman. Never understood the raised eyebrows of women having babies over the age of 40. Women have been having babies well into their forties since the beginning of time. It seems like only in the last several decades that this suddenly became an issue.
Siena could be a top model if she chose not to be an actress no longer. She has an ease and confidence with being photographed and she is absolutely beautiful, yet ‘simple’. Simple in the ways she carries herself and dresses. I just absolutely love her aesthetics. She doesn’t come across as a pretentious person to me. I just find it so relaxing just watching her.

41 not a big deal to have a baby when most women are still having normal cycles at this age, for many women it’s quite likely they will fall pregnant if they don’t avoid it..most probably couples avoid it if they finished their families earlier, but it’s choice and opportunity, 40s pregnancies were apparently more common before the days of the contraceptive pill…

Yes, as a woman in 2024 you have it very hard as a woman. You’re not a protected species at all 🤔
So many tough personal questions in this interview, Sienna handled each one of them so elegantly

True, she is so naturally beautiful and doesn't need to wear any makeup!!!
I think Sienna is an easy target for jealousy, there's really nothing to dislike about her. She's lovely, inside and out.
