His gambling problem wasn't poker. He lost his poker winnings in the sportsbook and the golf course. Saying Eric gambles at poker is like saying Warren Buffet gambles in the stock market. The challenge with poker is poker rooms are almost always placed right next to the sportsbook in casinos. Poker is a skill game, you take your edges, just like the market. You may lose a bet that you were a favorite on, but if you take that same bet over and over again, you win. Casinos pay out plenty of slot machine jackpots, but they'll get all that money back and then some because math. Same with advantaged poker players. Betting sports on the other hand is almost impossible because the edges are so small and the odds the casinos lay doesn't really reflect the likelyhood of an outcome in the sporting event. If you're gonna bet kids, bet on the things you have the most control over. Eric wasn't going to make a play in the NFL. He had no control over the outcome. Don't bet on that.
If Erick stuck with poker (as many have told him), he would be just fine. He is a very talented poker player, unfortunately when it comes to sports/fantasy football, he is a total fish.
Most poker players are not money smart, they are gamblers of many games. Could u imagine if any of these guys had any money smarts, they should invest their money in stocks and other investments. They should keep a decent bankroll, and not keep adding to their bankroll. If they only invested in NVDA, CMG, and many of the big name stocks 10 years ago. Or even 5 years ago, that is what i did. I now play poker full time, but at my age not everyday. I prefer selective tournaments, and i do not gamble anything else. I have made a great living buying NVDA and a few other home runs. Most poker players are degenerates anyway, all of my friends who tried to go pro have lost it all. There are none left, i am 67 years old now....hahahaha
An addict chases the adrenaline rush chasing action gives ya. If ya find yourself placing bets just because and it really doesn't make logical sense....that's an addict.......Unfortunately for Lindgren the same conditions that allowed him to become an addict still exist around him. Poker players will place bets on the dumbest things, there are a ton of prop bet videos, for every video there are thousands of bets that don't make RUclips. It might take his wife controlling the bankroll for him to get past this.

do you understand bankroll management? His issue is problem gambling, when you want to get rich quick, you run a tight rope. Poker is about managing risk. You can build up your bankroll from 100 bucks if you're good, and never run out, progessively increasing buyin as your stack grows and decreasing buyins if it goes down. You ensure you are not going to lose all your money to luck. If you dont grow your bankroll with time then you probably need to fix your game.
