This is small but I really miss the head in the middle of the interaction tree. It really makes it feel like your in the sim’s head as they decide what to do. And makes each sim feel unique. In the sims 4 the interaction tree feels less personal and I forget what sim I’m controlling without the little head telling me who I’m choosing for.

I loved this nabourhood I played in it obsessively, I loved the cultural references and the law. I played rotationally and it was so good.
Honestly they prob mixed that in with the Romeo and Juliette theme and it worked wonders for them 🤣 Veronaville is amazing and I especially have a fondness for it because I really really enjoy Shakespeare and the whole town was themed just that.

there’s actually a mod that fixes the cas resolution so you can actually see what you’re looking at! it’s called widescreen cas fix and i think there’s a clean ui compatible version of it 👍
You don't need a mod to unlock all the screen resolutions.
@@Tj_Smeejay @willnaid Actually that is NOT a screen resolution fix. The widescreen CAS fix they mentioned is a camera tweak mod for CAS, there are also a UI Tweak mod that move the CAS menu further to right, which I think is better solution.

Ok but you can fix the screen resolution AND the UI WITHOUT mods or anything. You just need to follow a guide that shows you how to go into the game settings files, you don't even need any special software, you just use Notepad to make the changes.
@@Tj_Smeejay Yep but I'm explaining that the Screen Resolution and the CAS UI/Camera fix are totally different problem. There is no correlation between the CAS problem and the game screen resolution.
I love how detailed the relationships were. Sims with different interests and different personalities will always create different relationship outcomes. Your interests can change based on books you read, movies you watch and conversations with other sims. Relationships are one-sided so you never know how the other Sim feels about you unless they’re part of your household. You couldn’t just be friends or romantic with mostly everyone like in 3 and 4.
The thing I love about sims 2 CAS is when you put glasses on a sim, when the sims wearing undies/jammers and I think swimwear, the glasses automatically off. I don't know why I was charmed by that.

I'm replaying the Sims 2 rn too! Sims 2 University is peak gameplay of all Sims university attempts. The dorm doors that lock to just your sim, the classes, the professors that visit your dorm for some sinful pre-marital babymaking, the Sorority/Frat Greek life applications, the parties (TOGA PARTIES). What a game. Sims peaked in Sims 2. Back when it was Maxis, before EA moved the Maxis team to Spore and we never had the same quality since.
Dude! I loved the sims 2 and I was so excited for university but it was bugged and always crashed for me! To the point I was unable to ever play it and I was so disappointed. Fast forward, I only checked out Sims 4 for the university pack because I was cheated in sims 2. Here I am many simoleons later cheated

Omg yessss, I LOVE Sims 3 but university was my absolute favourite pack in 2 and I always miss elements of it, like being able to do work in the dorm for some cash??? God iconic, changing your major multiple times, cramming essays last minute! If I had any favourite show I'd make all of the main characters and play them through university 😭 I remember doing Naruto... I should play Sims 2 again
Yes to all of this, and I also love that you can gather sims from different families to live together as one household in college. I wish that was possible in the other games

you can put objects on half tiles! it just requires a cheat called setquartertileplacement on. then after that you have to do control+f to enable/disable it

There’s also boolprop snapobjectstogrid false which allows free placement. I always forget the quarter tile one exists

Sims 2 relationships are harder than Sims 4's, but it was a godsend after Sims 1, I could NEVER manage to develop a romantic relationship with another sim in the Sims 1 😭
Also, I had a notebook where I wrote down all the cheats I could find, it was like a catalogue 😂
I recently got back into playing the sims 2 again and it’s so crazy how better the gameplay is in the sims 2, like small details like they using the cabinets when cooking
Your recent video about the Sims 2 made me want to play again so I spent the last few days setting up the game and mods/cc and oh my goodness, I forgot how much I love this game. It's so well made and I love playing it so much more than Sims 4. I got custom hoods and default replacements, my game is looking fresh and plays fantastically! So thank you so much for the videos and the reminder Plumbella! (Also now that it's abandonware it's easy to get)

@@Plumbella It is SO chaotic but so much fun! Definitely more difficult too. I get so absorbed in playing the Sims 2 in a way I never really do with Sims 4. Very glad to have rediscovered the game! Plus modders have just kept at it for the last few years, just amazing the kinds of things they've added!
P.S. if you use the cheat 'setquartertileplacement on' you can place objects on quarter tiles as opposed to snapping to the full grid! After entering this cheat, press Ctrl and F to toggle between quarter tile mode and regular tile mode. :) There's also a 45 degree angle cheat. (boolprop allow45degreeangleofrotation true)

also there's a bunch of fixes you should install to prevent game corruption, they'll be mentioned in just about any mod rec video, they are antiredundancy, nounlinkondeath and nocorruptdeath!

The clothing in sims 2 was iconic. I spent so long in create a sim despite the lack of choices and the fact that most of my sims always ended up the same.
I love the interaction between siblings in Sims 2, it's so adorable. It sucks cause in the sims 4 once siblings aren't the same age anymore, they can't really play together because too many playsets are just for children

I’ve been playing the Sims 2 a TON lately and it’s so fun, I do the same thing as Sims 4 where I start new families alot without finishing the first but this time I tend to atleast get through to the third generation and go back and play my older families, it is so much fun ! And I have zero mods currently but it’s already ten times as fun as Sims 4 with 20 mods

I recently started playing sims 2 again thanks to your videos, and oh my lord the nostalgia! I didn’t really remember sims 2 that well since it had been sooooo long since I played it and regarded sims 3 as my favourite but sims 2 is quickly closing in on a shared first spot in my heart fr 😭 like how is it so old yet so detailed
Also the needs thing you mentioned in spot on and I was shocked at first when returning, like in sims 4 I sometimes go days without cooking or where my sim just eats breakfast cause why bother 💀 but in sims 2 you actualky need tonest realistically often!

YES!! I’m so glad this video came next! The sims 4 could NEVER!
Build cheats for quarter tile placement (and off-grid free placement, although that’s best for decorations only), and mods for widescreen CAS (they do exist) and you’ll be in sims2 heaven. There are a lot of other mods needed that tweak stuff, and certainly sims4 CAS with greater body/skins etc, and wider array of clothes categories (separate hairs and hats, separate shoes from clothing) are huge improvements, but as you say, TS2 gameplay wins overall.
My favorite kinds of videos are Jessie’s gameplay with her narrating the shit show. Especially with TS2 because it’s so chaotic. Looooove it.
12:39 You can totally do half-tile placement with "setquartertileplacement on" (Ctrl+F to toggle it on and off after entering the cheat). I always center my sofas for the tv in this game. It also allows some neat tricks with columns placement like putting the column inside walls (with "moveobjects on") to make nice "dividers" in them, or to put the columns under diagonal walls for aesthetic purposes. Several items' animations do get bugged due to the positioning, but most of them work fine, especially decorative items like carpets, paintings and flowers.
"Sims 2: Apartment Life" which you seemingly have installed also allows to change the height of (some of) the paintings, shifting them up and down the wall with [ and ] keys. Doesn't work with paintings sims make, photos from photo booth and some other decorative items (but there's a mod for that which I never used). I think Ctrl+Alt even allows to put paintings on top of each-other, which can be combined with that quarter tile placement trick, but this I never used myself too.
The gold light and sparkles meant that a Good Witch was showing up on the lot.
There’s supposed to be a scripted event that boots up when you first load the Capp lot (like the Goth family one where it encourages Cass to marry Don) but I believe it’s broken in the final release. Think there’s mods to fix it though
As someone who literally had the same experience being autistic with a special interest in the sims 2 as a kid I appreciate this woman so much! GOD BLESS YA! Hearing her talk about how TS2 is perfect to play in 2023 is so real. You can find it so easily and it plays well on all systems plus the fashion is definitely trendy right now. THERE WAS A DEISEL STUFF PACK in TS3!!! And now Deisel is BACK IN! Ahead of it's time honestly this franchise had such golden days before EA decided to abuse the invention of DLC Maxis did flawlessly, lmao.

I forgot how chaotic this game is. In my game I had a goth girl and a soft boi. I made them flirt for a second, and then all autonomously they then:
-He confessed his love for her.
-She rejected him
-He immediately slapped her with a pillow and they had a pillow fight
-They made out.
10/10 plot.

You can actually place objects on half & quarter tiles in the Sims 2 with some cheat codes!!
setquartertileplacement on - after entering this cheat, press Ctrl and F to toggle between quarter tile mode and regular tile mode
boolprop allow45degreeangleofrotation true - allows you to turn objects 45 degrees with the arrow keys
boolprop snapobjectstogrid false - turns the whole grid off (too much freedom for me but it's a very useful feature!)
and of course the old fave moveobjects on also helps you place things :3 Hope that helps!!

I remember thinking for the longest time that end tables didn't work next to beds and being completely surprised when they did without any issues. I'm not sure if I was confusing it at the time with another object or if I was just assuming that it'd be one of the game's many pathing limitations.

Truly resonate with how "easy" 4 is. Everything before 3 felt much more like a game, rather than a fishbowl/building simulator (Which is fine, but it feels like a different kind of game).
It's not fine, it's not supposed to be just a building simulator. Sims 4 is seriously lacking.

i really, really miss the lore the sims 2 had with its premade characters. yes, the building and customization are better in the sims 4 but personally for me, i always end up making sims or building and then never playing. back in the sims 2 i picked a family, live for the drama and maybe remodel the house, but kept playing for generations with the premade families.
The headboard on the double bed is so cute :). A shower head with a handheld nozzle might help your hair since you asked for advice on it, they're not terribly expensive or hard to install (at least where I am in the US). I don't wear makeup much, but I've seen people wear setting powder over their foundation in videos and they say it helps the makeup stay matte :)
I would totally watch all videos where it’s just you playing any of the games, i love the chaos of the sims and its a joy to watch~
The Romeo and Juliet reference just reminds me of how much I hate Baz Luhrman (for creating the 90’s modern version of Romeo and Juliet. The Bain of my existence when I was 15.)
I actually love that movie. admittedly, i'm pretty sure at least 97% of the reason for that is i just like john leguizamo and harold perrineau, and that was probably my first introduction to both of them.
Waaait this has me in my feelings in a way I didn't expect! I played Sims 2 so much when I was in college (2004-2007) and those were some of my favorite years. I spent my free time playing Sims 2 and talking to my besties on MSN Messenger. Every Christmas I'd ask for a Sims 2 expansion pack and a season of The Simpsons on DVD. So many things and people from that part of my life are gone now WHY DID SEEING SIMS 2 BUILD MODE BRING ALL THAT BACK

Sims 2 gameplay is great recently I played as a sim called Witchy McWitchface and was trying to meet and become a witch. Unfortunately I couldn't find one so I ended up purchasing a karaoke set. Then I made up a story that my sim was using it like a siren song to summon witches and my sim is a terrible singer so it really adds to the ambience. Also my sim lives in an apartment, imagine hearing your neighbour singing a witch siren song at random hours of the day (I still haven't gotten a noise complaint, I've had loud neighbours in the sims 2 previously so hmmm)

I never played in veronaville either 😂homeworks made (and still make) me crazy bc the kids were so low in fun when they came back, it takes u a while to get it up and then doing homework makes it low again.

19:55 - If you wanna do it without cheats, you can start by asking the Sim about its interests and make those your talking points. It's a slow burn if there's low chemistry. Love Potion #9 also works👍🏾💓💗💞💕

I’m hoping to be able to play the sims 2 once i get a cd rom drive for my computer (my sister left all her sims 2 disks when she moved out), so i’m so happy you posted this. My memories of the sims 2 are basically spending hours in cas at my friend’s house because we didn’t have it at home at the time. We didn’t get around to much of the gameplay tho lol

I recently discovered TS2 Super Collection is on the App Store for Mac and it runs great - all the UI is perfectly set and it runs seamlessly! I play TS4 on my PC and TS2 on my laptop and I love bouncing from modern to nostalgic lmao I love your Sims 2 videos thanks betch
