He he! See? The view in the glasses is amazing! The tonality is better than the real view! :D As always, very good video production and that place is really amazing. Congratulations to the owner of that place that gave you this tour! Thank you Mister Owner! And thank you to the ladies that were nice to you and gave you little presents. Congratulations Japan! Well, in Romania you will be shocked by the wilderness we still have here.
I heard this lake is an artificial lake by '雨竜dam', where lots of Korean workers were forced to build that dam during Japanese Empire time. And near dam is a monument for the dead workers. Anyways that scenery looks so beautiful and peaceful now. If I have a chance to visit Hokkaido, I will visit this lake and dam as well. Thanks for a nice video. Jayoe!
That is typical Japanese right wing sided point of view or historical revisionism of 20th century history. Learn some real history. After Manchurian Incident in 1931 your ex government (Japanese Empire) went crazy. After Sino-Japanese War in 1937 Japanese Gov ordered conscription of Korean and Taiwanese. And that 雨竜dam was built during from 1939 to 1943. And in 1941 Japanese Empire was embargoed by ABCD 包圍網 (American-British-Chinese-Dutch embargo), to stop Japanese crazy invasion over China. It was conscription 徵用 by your crazy government. Do you understand? Did Korean workers have right to vote to decide whether go to war against the whole world or not? NO, your crazy military guys had all power over Korea. Stop blaming Koreans of that time. That is very shitty logic.
Japan is such a beautiful country. I lived/worked there before I moved here to China. Such a world of difference isn't it? Both of them have so many ups and downs about them.
PrimeInChina such a world of difference is true.. Japan is a million times better. Civilized people with good manners. clean and organized. China now.. the complete opposite...
I really want a drone for travels, but I'd be scared flying it over water. I'll just enjoy your stuff insted. :) Sui just said she loves your eye shape.
Hokkaido is a little bit relaxed area compare to big city like Tokyo and affordable price range to stay there a couple of days for tour as matt recommend its merits to enjoy the nature and food .onsen so on . Jayoe
The word you're looking for to describe the soup flavour is umami. It's one of the five basic tastes, saltiness, bitterness, sourness, sweetness and umami. The umami taste is from naturally occuring glutamate, like the artificial form you find in MSG. Umami as a concept was invented by a Japanese scientist in 1908, it took a lot of arguing among scientists deciding if it was real, but it's a key component of the tastes of Japanese foods.
the JaYoe Nation Sorry, being a food geek again! I do a lot of Japanese and Chinese cooking here in Edinburgh, not the first place you might think of for such cuisine but we have some massive Asian supermarkets here in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. I'm hoping to get a Takoyaki pan for my birthday in August, I adore them and they are so simple to make!
I think you can taste umami best by trying the "raw" dashi - (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dashi). It is not salty, sweet, bitter or sour, but it tastes so good :) Dashi is used in a lot of Japanese foods.
Not allowed to take fish out of the water and say "Hey, look what I got!". Two minutes later, takes fish out of water and says, "Hey, look what I got!" Well, at least you didn't let it hang out of your mouth, flailing about, like you did with those live squid you ate.
Scuba Guy They can be, depending on the place they are sited, the construction method, the mechanics of the specific dam... you can't make a blanket statement about it.

It's truly amazing. The sights you get to see and the people you meet on your adventures. Keep it up Matt!

nate lucas Untrue. You're more than allowed to have your own preference but you can't make a blanket statement to cover everyone else.
In Japan there are few places where you can fish without permission.
Did you buy permits properly?
Mat, can you do a video with a list of all you equipment, and links of where to get them? Thanks...love your videos.
Floggin Fiddlestixs Look up in the video description box, there is a lot of the information in there.

solidarity kingbee It's so beautiful, very much like the places here in the UK where my Dad took us climbing every weekend.

You didn't get to eat your fish? Looks like the "advanced hard" work you did the day was all wasted! :P
Two? Nahhhh...
It was the same stupid fish, twice...
hydro electric dams are very very bad for the environment.
