I always feel bad for Sebastian, Robin and Demetrius aren't bad people but it seems like he kinda gets treated like the outcast of the family. There's a line he says when you're married talking about how he's glad to have windows or natural light or something and several more that suggest he didn't choose to live in the basement, for one, and it seems like Demetrius heavily shows favoritism towards Maru. Maru, of course, gets attention from both parents being that Robin is also her biological mother. Not only that, but in some of his cutscenes, I feel like he shows some signs of social anxiety and I can kinda see why. But that also makes me biased towards him, because I'm a gamer nerd with social anxiety.
Okay, so if I'm getting the family dynamic right, Sebastian was already Robin's kid, then she remarried and had Maru. Right? This would explain why Maru looks more like Dimetrius, right? I'm just saying that dynamic would make sense...

I just think that Robin and her first husband divorced, when she married again they moved to Pelican Town. Maybe the father is in ZuZu City? I just think Sebastian and his father talk to each other. And maybe he is a ginger but coloured his hair black .... because emo things

But don't forget that both the Old Mariner and Shane could be potential candidates. Shane has the purple hair and anti-social personality. Meanwhile the Old Mariner happens to have dark hair. I HAVE A LEGIT THEORY: I don't think the Wizard is his father, because there's a lot of real evidence that Abigail is the Wizard's daughter. If you don't end up marrying Abigail or Sebastian they're the game's natural flow of ending up together. So unless there's some incest scandal here I don't think that's the case. i believe that Sebastian's father lives in zuzu city. during the game he mentions how he wants to move to the city, and how he goes there on his motorcycle every now and again. maybe he would like to see his father there. and he tends to hang around people who are also related to, or lived in zuzu city, like Sam who used to live there, and Abigail who is tired of the valley, and wants more excitement, like in zuzu city. but that's just a theory, a game theory. thanks for reading (I like game Theorists)

Fun fact, Sebastian would only have the chance to be ginger if the father was carrying the recessive gene for that trait. That would give him a 50 percent chance of being ginger. If the father does not carry that gene, Sebastian would never have red hair, regardless of the fact that Robin does.

Well Maru is his half-sister by his mother Robin and they seem to be relatively close in age which means that Robin was with Demetrius (and his bio dad had already gone) when Sebastian was still a baby/little-kid, so it’s possible that it was a one-night-stand or that his dad left when he found out Robin was pregnant. Though maybe it’s possible that he died or abandoned them since the book “Making your second marriage work” seems to indicate that Robin was probably married to his dad if only for a short while

I don’t think there’s an affair going on. They directly tell you that Sebastian and Maru are half siblings, so it’s not a big secret. Robin must’ve had Sebastian with her pervious partner, then they divorced or he died or something, and Robin married Demetrius and made Maru. Robin and Sebastian’s dad lived in the city (I think, can someone confirm?), and Sebastian was probably born there. That’s why he wants to go back there.

His father only appears in the rain, same time he is at the beach. Robin is a carpenter, father a sailor. Funny the wizard was your first guess, I actually had a (mostly crack) theory some time ago that Robin was the witch, and while she was pregnant with Sebastian she discovered him cheating with Caroline. Think about it, her house is both farthest away from town, and closest to the witch's hideout, we never see the witch except at night during events (before anyone points out that the witch has green skin and all, remember that the wizard has a shrine in his basement that allows the player to change appearance at will, so it's not outside the realm of possibility for Robin to do the same) she also makes a comment that her parents were skeptical when she wanted to become a carpenter, which seems odd bc it's a normal job, but makes sense if they were also magical, because why would she want a real-world job when she could make potions or charms?
Oh, also void eggs, which are only obtainable once the witch leaves one in your coop, are one of Seb's favorite gifts. Sebastian also prefers playing the wizard in their DnD knockoff

I do find the dynamic of Sebastian’s family incredibly fascinating, because Sebastian only ever mentions his mom in a positive light. When he mentions Maru (through marriage dialogue), he talks about how happy he is to have a new space where he can do whatever he wants and how Maru is probably “glad he’s gone.” It’s also interesting that during one of Maru’s heart events, Demetrius is talking to the player about how bright her future is and how he “doesn’t want anything to get in the way,” which definitely makes you wonder why he’d say that.. their whole family dynamic feels like “little sibling gets all the love for being successful and knowing their aspirations, while the more directionless older sibling becomes the black sheep and an example of what not to be.” Pretty damn sad tbh

I think personally, that Demetrius is Sebestian’s father. Plus, if you go to the graveyard, it says ‘Our Beloved Mona’. Here’s my story. Mona got Married to Demetrius and they had a child, Sebastian. Sebastian was a very active, cheery child. Mona died in a horrible accident (being crushed by the bus) The bus gets broken however is fixed just enough for a couple more rounds. Demetrius and Sebastian were devastated. Sam and Sebastian became friends because they both had lost a parent. Demetrius moved on and married Robin and had a child named Maru. Sebastian however, did not move on and became dark and edgy after his mother died. He started to open up a bit and met Abigail. They all became friends and now we are here!

I don’t think there’s an affair going on. They directly tell you that Sebastian and Maru are half siblings, so it’s not a big secret. Robin must’ve had Sebastian with her pervious partner, then they divorced or he died or something, and Robin married Demetrius and made Maru. Robin and Sebastian’s dad lived in the city (I think, can someone confirm?), and Sebastian was probably born there. That’s why he wants to go back there.
Or his father died in a shipwreck and thats why he is always at the beach in the rain.
Broken bridge symbolizes something that cant be crossed. His father only appears in the rain, same time he is at the beach. Robin is a carpenter, father a sailor. Not too far fetched considering he would spend a lot of money on wood up there for repairs to his ship. Robin is on her second marriage and maru is his step sister. Also why D favors her over him. Shes his real daughter and seb is his step son. Making him feel like an outcast

Funny the wizard was your first guess, I actually had a (mostly crack) theory some time ago that Robin was the witch, and while she was pregnant with Sebastian she discovered him cheating with Caroline. Think about it, her house is both farthest away from town, and closest to the witch's hideout, we never see the witch except at night during events (before anyone points out that the witch has green skin and all, remember that the wizard has a shrine in his basement that allows the player to change appearance at will, so it's not outside the realm of possibility for Robin to do the same) she also makes a comment that her parents were skeptical when she wanted to become a carpenter, which seems odd bc it's a normal job, but makes sense if they were also magical, because why would she want a real-world job when she could make potions or charms?
Oh, also void eggs, which are only obtainable once the witch leaves one in your coop, are one of Seb's favorite gifts. Sebastian also prefers playing the wizard in their DnD knockoff
Okay forgot that but the witch still gives you void eggs and I think most people get one from her before unlocking krobus

I do find the dynamic of Sebastian’s family incredibly fascinating, because Sebastian only ever mentions his mom in a positive light. When he mentions Maru (through marriage dialogue), he talks about how happy he is to have a new space where he can do whatever he wants and how Maru is probably “glad he’s gone.” It’s also interesting that during one of Maru’s heart events, Demetrius is talking to the player about how bright her future is and how he “doesn’t want anything to get in the way,” which definitely makes you wonder why he’d say that.. their whole family dynamic feels like “little sibling gets all the love for being successful and knowing their aspirations, while the more directionless older sibling becomes the black sheep and an example of what not to be.”

I always thought they were STEP-siblings, not half-siblings; as in: Robin is Sebastians's mom and Demetrius is Maru's dad but that's all, and their previous relationships just ended badly. Although I could be wrong, that's just what I figured.

I think Shane is Sebastian's dad. They look offly similar, they're both antisocial, both have dark hair. My idea behind it is Robin accidentally had a baby with Shane. Shane was so stressed about the baby that the only thing that can stop the stress was alcohol. Robin couldn't take Shane always getting drunk and left him. It's just my theory

December 2019. My simple conclusion from reading most comments is that the ghost Ol' Mariner was the biological father of Sebastian - the rain thing & beach thing being their common activities. It's implied Robin had a bad divorce with her first husband, whether he be the wizard, Krobus, Mayor Lewis, or that mermaid pendant guy.

I think personally, that Demetrius is Sebestian’s father.
Plus, if you go to the graveyard, it says ‘Our Beloved Mona’. Here’s my story.
Mona got Married to Demetrius and they had a child, Sebastian. Sebastian was a very active, cheery child. Mona died in a horrible accident (being crushed by the bus) The bus gets broken however is fixed just enough for a couple more rounds. Demetrius and Sebastian were devastated. Sam and Sebastian became friends because they both had lost a parent. Demetrius moved on and married Robin and had a child named Maru. Sebastian however, did not move on and became dark and edgy after his mother died. He started to open up a bit and met Abigail. They all became friends and now we are here!
