Wow, I don't even play this game that much, but when you said that focusing on one thing at a time an mastering it works in life too...oh and not to try to multitask to much! It was the perfect advice that I needed for my life right now! Thanks Lowko! I hope you love doing this channel your definitely one of my favorite RUclipsrs bro!
The feedback you asked for... This is THE best video you have made all year. I've watched it twice already. My game always falls apart at around the 9 min mark. I know what to do, I just never actually do it. This video has given me a lot of new approaches.
LowkoTV +1 from me :) Would really like to see those series extended. Like one game you're focusing on - as you said - not getting over 500mins/gas, one game you focus on scouting etc. etc.
LowkoTV Well my problem is I get overwhelmed. I'll get sidetracked on dealing with a battle, and suddenly I have 2000+ minerals, no larva and no creep. Your advice to focus on just one element (even if you lose the game) is really useful. More videos that deal with the multi-tasking aspect would be great, and would be just as useful to P&T players as well.
LowkoTV I would love to see more videos like this that help to improve in mechanics and mind set more than just build orders. Your other videos have massively helped me get to gold, but I've hit a wall and stuff like this video helps immensely.
Frosty Death Well, it depends on what you're not doing well with at the moment. With toss, it's really making sure your build and timings are spot on, otherwise you're going to just crumble

I've been grinding Starcraft 2 for the last while to finally get into Master league, and with the major progress that I've made, I have to mention that it has a lot to do with the contribution that your videos have made to my game play and play style. Thanks a lot for the videos Lowko... I still have many of your videos to watch, but I'm slowly but surely working through them.
For terran all you need is 4 depots than and 2 command centers with the radar than you can get the 3rd base and start using the extra supply power along with M.U.LE.S.
I'm just a Bronze league player, but if there's anything that I've learned....you must accept the fact that you're going to lose some games. Don't have a bad attitude when you lose; use it as an opportunity to learn and grow. You won't get better at SC2 -- or anything in life -- if you don't continue to push yourself. Be a good sport.
I just want to thank you, I am new starcraft and your video have helped my game improve so much. I just tried doing a better job creep spreading and I won because of it. thank you again
I think this is one of your best videos of all time. When I'm having trouble learning something new. I always come back to this video and review it as it has amazing advice. I really appreciate this video and everything it has done for me.
Thanks for the video, Lowko. Been playing for 2 years and good to go back to basics every now and then. :) Also reminds me of when I was learning how to creep spread. T'was a ZvP on Neo Planet. The protoss refused to step on creep and kept backing up as it advanced past the halfway point. And then I fed his zealots to my zerglings
Watching this in 2024. Only played the campaign back in the day, but now trying to get into the game a bit more, and these are some very good tips I'll try to work on!
I just picked up SC2 this weekend thanks to you, so these videos help a lot! I was placed in Bronze and keep dying to cheese, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it ;)
Practicin a build order is fine - but practicing something like this? Never came to mind. Thats brilliant! Thanks for the fresh approach: it's as valued as new strategies. And certainly much more usefull, as this is required in every game, and not just some )
This is exactly what I needed, your videos have helped me hit Diamond in a few months but I feel totally unprepared for it... looks like it's time to practice! Thanks Lowko!
These are my favorite kind of videos from you! Please make more. This is awesome! There is a Day[9] shaped whole in my SC2 learning and you fill it perfectly.
Great video. I would love to see more like this from you. How to practice, how to set up your hot keys and control groups, how to micro. Many times the fundamentals are overlooked. Keep these videos coming. Videos like these have upped my Zerg game very much so. Before they had the Zerg keymapping, when it was a video like this that introduced me to the concept of swapping the space bar and backspace in order to get my queen injects off in no time, helped me out greatly! Keep them coming!
Great video. You had a sumilar one for HotS and it helped me a lot. first I was on overlord spread, then scouting, then not getting supply blocked, lately on injects, and now I am on getting back to the build order. Sounds all over the place, but helps me much.
i love what you say about dont think about your points! i use to think that way i was in bronze almost all season and was getting frustrated then i just decided in the last week that meh it doesnt matter what rank i am seasons almost over, this is for fun i went up to rank11 in gold in 3 days and had sooo much fun way more then when i was focused on the ladder.
I think i have a good idea for another video like this. I see how you are managing everything and how you are able to move the camera all over the map so quickly and switching between different structures that are all bound to one key. Maybe you could explain how all of that works.
MudkipsAreEpicWin I dont main zerg i main protoss, but when i play any of the races i always hotkey my main structures (nexus, hatcheries, command centers) to a single command key. For zerg in particular i usually hotkey my hatches to 4 and queens to 5. Now the way you can jump around the map using a single hotkey is the base camera command. It's default to backspace but i change it to space bar. I use this mainly for my inject larvas. First you select all your queens then press v or whatever hotkey you have for inject larva, hold shift, then tap the base camera to go from hatch to hatch using inject larva on each. As long as all your queens are on a single hotkey only the closest queen with energy will move to inject larva so you wont have queens running across the map. You can also use base camera to move quickly between bases as well in general. Also one more advanced technique is camera views. Not sure what they default to but i change mine to F1 F2 F3. How they work is when you are looking at a point on the map you can CTRL+F1 (or whichever key you want that view set to) to set the camera to that spot. Now everytime you press F1(F2 or F3) it will take you back to that spot. For toss i use it for ramps, for your proxy pylons, and anything else that will be a spot on the map you will need to snap to. For zerg i could see it being awesome for creep spread just updating the camera view every time your creep expands. Sorry for writing a book but i hope it helps. LOWKO i would love to hear what you use to navigate the map/ manage your base please take note of MudkipsAreEpicWin's question!!! :D
Brian P The defaults are F3 through F5 for the cameras. And I would prefer you give me a book than nothing. This actually helps a lot because i didn't even know that backspace was used for anything other than typing. So thank you for taking the time to write me a book.
Hey! Thanks for this video. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I've heard this advice, but I'm finally going to just put my nose to the grindstone and do it. Thanks for the push
Gotta say, I really think it just comes down to patience with yourself, there are some things you just can't rush, and I think getting good at these kinda games is one of them.
Thanks a LOT for the advice! I mean, this particular video helped me not only in the game, but generally in life! I was having a bit hard time with my studies, but this video was just amazing. GG WP, and thanks for another nice vid :P
Great video, im a Terran player myself and i never used widow mines, i felt too clumsy using them and never made a single one. Then i told myself, allright im gonna do a lot of widow mine drops in the early game, im gonna try to get to that point as fast as possible, then ill make a bio army with widow mines. I did that for a lot of games and now i can use them properly and i know when to use them.
I'm here because starcraft 1 and 2 became free along with AOE on xbox gamepass for PC, but I'm a fan. A new daily watcher of your older vids. I'm learning a lot. I played the first starcraft back when it was on disk. My 7th grade computer science teacher introduced a bunch of us students at lunch playing a custom mod. I was zealot Fenix with 10,000 shield and HP. Extra damage. There were a bunch of us playing as campaign characters with huge buffs. Have you heard of this mod? Since recently I havent played any strategy games like this in over 10 years.
Very good video. Change from the classic. I think you forgot to mention how never being supply cap is important. It probably comes right after queen injecting efficiently. Another kind od video I would like to see is a compilation of the most frequent error zergs are making per matchup. The one that are the most common mistakes you see during your coaching session. Today I go through 1h30 of your coaching video and write them down. Thanks for sharing! Have a nice day and week and year :)
Lowko, these videos are sick! I love the videos when you show the community new strategies and advance techniques. Keep up the hard work and good luck in LotV!
As i am finally getting back into SC after years of not, i now understand better why Day9 did use "FunDay". By focusing on one unit/idea you understand it much better.
Nice video lowko, 310 like for 0 unlike is just unreal, this just represent the quality of you're video serioussly, and thx a lot for the difference about the 'praticing efficiently', I'll try type of train, should be awesome
This was great great to understand and taught me how to improve at my playing style since I've been watching your content I've gone from lower bronze too top 8 gold thanks so much and keep making great content
Thanks Loko. I'm plateauing at platinum 3/2 and really don't understand where to even begin with the math of this game (that I guess is important.) I think this is a sound strategy for improvement. Cheers man. Take care :)
There is an arcade map, I think it's called, "Creep or Die" on which you can train creep spread. Goal is to cover the map with creep and you lose if your queens have more than x energy.
Love the specifics of this video! I hope you make a similar video with some ideas on Protoss-specific goals. Instead of spreading creep, what would some good goals be for improving with Protoss?
Spreading Pylons trough the map since you can warp whenever you want that way, also microing back units wich are getting low on shields or health is REALLY important since Protoss can regen that
As a Zerg player, I'm a fan of this. My creep spread is decent but takes a lot longer than this. I'm working on being more aggressive with it, but this is just nuts haha. It's pretty hard to practice this strategy versus the AI since they get mobile detection immediately and just destroy every tumor :P
What a great video! - Please make more of these!! (I'm so noob, that I don't even use hotkeys well) Could you make a video on how to focus your hotkeys? (For both building, and fighting) I think the way you broke it down on 'order of importance' is awesome, and if you make a video on hotkeys. - Please link it to me/and use the order of importance again so I know how best to put my focus! Ty so much! I look forward to more great videos. :)
I don't understand why people practice mechanics in real games. In the first 5mins of hots games you basically learn nothing. It's always almost the same unless you are 6pooling which isn't good practice anyway. This might be different in Lotv however. I recommend using the map editor from blizzard to set up specific situations you like to practice. It's some work, especially if you're new to the editor but i think it's way more efficient. Some people also published some nice training and practice maps.
WorldOfDeepThought Because real games are dynamic. Practice itself is helpful, but practicing in a changing and dynamic situation against a human opponent can also lead to new insights. Using map editor or custom games to practice timings or specific fundamentals can be helpful for improving your basics, but not for learning new things or gaining new understanding.
LowkoTVI don't doubt that you get a better understanding of the game and that you see the benefits of certain mechanics. I rather meant the practice of certain mechanics like: - repeat a certain macro cycle (depends on race) - micro that makes a big difference (marine split, hitting forcefields) - fast larva injecting (backspace method for example) - multitasking (macroing with hotkeys while controlling an army) - getting used to hotkeying in general Some practice I find very useful is to go in a unit tester and assign units on different hotkeys repeatedly. Also using the shift and control key to remove certain units or type of units on hotkeys and reassign them. I feel like i can't practice this in real games because I only get it down fast and precise with a great amount of repetition. The stress free environment makes me learn this type of mechanics faster as well.
It feels like videos like this are for the people who know how to (almost) perfectly micro manage and pay attention and manage multiple different things on the map at the same time. I can't seem to find anything on how you can practice using your keyboard faster for hotkeys, using control groups efficiently and how to select multiple units separately and micro them real well WHILE managing your base/tech/macro. Pls help
+Ronnie Kallio Can't really help with much,as I do fall into a similar situation,But I do know that the grid setup for your keyboard is quite useful if your having trouble with standard.
This is exactly my problem. I get flustered once I get on about 2 bases. I don't know what hotkeys to use while still having some available for my army / microing groups in a fight. Injecting, spreading creep, macroing your bases and expanding and saturating new bases while scouting more to figure out what you should actually be building and THEN building it, and being ready for a fight...I have always loved zerg but this is too much, it's just depressing
Hey it was a good video^^ ich am New in sc2 but und videos are helping me a lot an i am gold (1vs1) and got platin (2vs)^^ just dont stop making videos Greetings anithos
hi, I realise this is an old post but I appreciated your video. My weakness is after setting up my base I sit back or seem to take my eye off the ball, could you help keep me keep occupied or perhaps give me a list to complete to remain competitive? Thank you.
Thank you so much Lowko! I love how easy your videos are to watch. You've made this game much more enjoyable for me and I've improved significantly since I started watching your videos and putting them into practice! really appreciate all your hard work and generosity in your time :)

Getting a very positive response on yesterday's video. Let's talk about improving.

Yes! Definitely do more of these videos. Thanks you! ^^
Great tips and excellent attitude, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Alexander the Great said that your goal is just as important as your army.
Yes, please, keep videos like this coming.
I would LOVE more videos like this!!!
Lowko, nice video! I like your idea and im going to try it.
I loved it. I realaly wanna see other starts for all 3 races! BYE!
There is an arcade map, I think it's called, "Creep or Die" on which you can train creep spread. Goal is to cover the map with creep and you lose if your queens have more than x energy.
thx Lowko i just got LotV 2 days ago :) and this will help me alot!
Love the specifics of this video! I hope you make a similar video with some ideas on Protoss-specific goals. Instead of spreading creep, what would some good goals be for improving with Protoss?
Spreading Pylons trough the map since you can warp whenever you want that way, also microing back units wich are getting low on shields or health is REALLY important since Protoss can regen that
I found this video really helpful :D Now the only thing I've got to do is get over my incredibly low APM.
A great video with great tips!
Keep up the good work! Ty!
Lowko stopped his studies to play SC, then returned to his studies. Wise choice. I'm happy for him, he will have a bright and happy future.
i love this vid, very insightful you've helped me get a grip on playing this game and understanding whats important :D
Your videos help me alot! Thx Lowko, you are best.
Wow. Very helpful and informative. Gonna try it :) Thx.
Thanks for the vids I will practice, practice, practice
+MrBDB001 Good luck!
Hi Lowko, great video! still very relevant!
I don't understand why people practice mechanics in real games.
In the first 5mins of hots games you basically learn nothing. It's always
almost the same unless you are 6pooling which isn't good practice anyway.
WorldOfDeepThought I try and explain that at 5:20. It comes down to gaining more insight in the game.
LowkoTVI don't doubt that you get a better understanding of the game and that you see the benefits of certain
mechanics.
I rather meant the practice of certain mechanics like:
- repeat a certain macro cycle (depends on race)
- micro that makes a big difference (marine split, hitting forcefields)
- fast larva injecting (backspace method for example)
- multitasking (macroing with hotkeys while controlling an army)
- getting used to hotkeying in general
Some practice I find very useful is to go in a unit tester and assign units on different hotkeys repeatedly.
Also using the shift and control key to remove certain units or type of units on hotkeys and reassign them.
I feel like i can't practice this in real games because I only get it down fast and precise with a
great amount of repetition. The stress free environment makes me learn this type of mechanics faster as well.
Best video on sc2 I've seen
+SHIJIA ‘Jack’ LIU Thank you Shijia!
PLEASE MAKE MORE OF THESE VIDEOS ON IMPROVING INDIVIDUAL SKILL
More tips and tricks video's as this, nice vid btw!
Great video, thank you Lowko. Hope to see some concentration training tips from you soon, that's a huge problem for me ^^
Going to practice right now, thanks for the practicing tips :D
Wow, you look at lot younger than you do now. Haha, thanks for the great content. Even the vintage stuff
You making very cool videos. Keep it going.
NICE! I'm pretty much a noob at zerg.... and earned allot.
Can u please make an updated version too! With each race? Zerg Terran and Protoss?
very informative and great advice thanks lowko
Another great video. Please make more like this
I need these types of videos
Hey it was a good video^^ ich am New in sc2 but und videos are helping me a lot an i am gold (1vs1) and got platin (2vs)^^ just dont stop making videos
Greetings anithos
Great video, definitely enjoyed it.
really nice tips! Make more if you can :)
I am finally getting a PC that can handle sc2. I love playing sc1, so I'm so hyped to finally play sc2
I need to wait a full two weeks before mine arives (can't wait)
Excellent video dude. Keep up the amazing work! BTW my account recently got beta access finally :D
When you say hitting all your queen injects, do you mean spawning more larva whenever you have the energy, without missing it?
Great vid man! Could try to make something like this but for the other races?
hi, I realise this is an old post but I appreciated your video. My weakness is after setting up my base I sit back or seem to take my eye off the ball, could you help keep me keep occupied or perhaps give me a list to complete to remain competitive?
Thank you.
This is great keep it up. Thank you.
Thank you so much Lowko! I love how easy your videos are to watch. You've made this game much more enjoyable for me and I've improved significantly since I started watching your videos and putting them into practice! really appreciate all your hard work and generosity in your time :)
